Savannah Chop House Ratings and Reviews
Not as good as it used to be
Ate here last fall and it was excellent. They recently changed the menu to appeal more to a bar crowd (sliders, jalapeño mashed potatoes) and took off the nicer fare like the foie gras. The ribs were tasteless and the prime rib was horrible -- clearly they put some sauce on top of it to mask the taste. The baked potato was dried out like it was cooked a week ago. They do a good happy hour bar crowd and clearly want to push the alcohol but the food just isn't worthwhile.
Great place and food. However, this time we have been in happy hours. This is not a real happy hours. For example: one plate was Crab Cake. If you buy as a normal food ,it will be $15 for 2 Crab Cakes. Happy Hours cost $9 for just one Crab Cake! I have ordered Salmon Fish. One year ago this restaurant has offered great Salmon with potatoes under the fish for $19. The fish has normal size. This time my fish has been inside the paper ,tasty but small size. It was written- Salmon with green beans, peppers. I die not see any beans at all! It was strange color rice. Inside the paper bag together with fish I could find only 5-6 stings of onion and 4 small 1.5" by 0.25" peppers. Is this a joke?
The house wine was very good.
The pork chop was big size with backed huge potato.
Nice music in the bar area.
I recommend to arrive before 6pm, best time 5.20-5.30 to grab the best site and order happy hour food.
Went for Mother's Day. Not super busy. Even got seated early. Waitress took 30 min to bring our drinks. Appetizers were great when we eventually got them. Took an hour for the main course since our waitress never placed our order. Desert was chosen for us.
Great food, but overall horrible service. It would be expected at any place for Mother's Day, but there is no excuse for not doing your job right. All the tables that were seated after us came and left prior to our meal being served.
We chose Savannah Chop house to have a nice quiet evening to celebrate our 41st Wedding anniversary.. It was fantastic, from the service, the seating arrangement and the food choices to the special touch of a wonderful dessert, on the house for our celebration.
The Bacon wrapped Halibut was delicious as was the Fried Chicken that my husband chose to have.
The food, as usual was outstanding. However the service was awful. We waited over an hour for our meal as tables that had arrived after us were served ahead of us. Only a half hearted apology from the waiter and nothing taken off the bill for our troubles...
Our server was so lovely and solicitous.
Our dinners were excellent and seasonal. We ordered from the seasonal menu.
The restaurant also offers a menu of value meals which we've enjoyed in the past.
There is a beautiful outdoor dining area in summer.
The interior rooms are very well appointed and comfortable.
Though we don't see many children there, when we do they've been well behaved and made to feel special.
The restaurant offers many special nights so it's fun to be on the mailing list.
We had the opportunity to celebrate my wife's birthday at Savannah Chop House. The service was exceptional and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. We have been customers of this restaurant for close to 15 years and are typically impressed with the overall experience. We will definitely enjoy many more meals there in the future.
Food was good, service lacked. Ordered 2 glasses of white wine in the bar. Server opened new bottle but it was hardly chilled. I let our dining room server know and she promised a very cold bottle. We ordered a $40 bottle, it was not that chilled either so she poured us all sips and put it in an ice bucket to chill. Received wrong appetizer, server was not that attentive for what our party ordered. Expected better.
We came here for a birthday and got their ribeye steak. We asked for medium and it was cooked medium well so it was dried and not very flavorful. The baked potatoe was really overcooked the skin was so hard and it was this tiny little potatoe not what I expected. Overall the reataurant is beautiful and it has a great atmosphere just the fod quality and taste has to improve.
Sat at the bar with my wife and ordered dinner. She ordered Mahi Mahi and I ordered a basic steak salad. My order was lost or never submitted. My wife's dish came out cut not mine. After much complaining, my salad finally appeared about 30 minutes later, long after my wife had finished. Btw, her fish was mushy and cloyingly sweet with an abundance of coconut. Regrettably, my salad was missing the steak. The steak appeared later totally uncooked! The restaurant was apologetic but this was such an epic complete fail that I would never dream of setting foot in here again.
Fried chicken was not good. Lobster thermidor was not what I would consider lobster thermidor per any preparation method I know of. I looked up online the next day and it was not prepared per any preparation method I could find online. No one in our group will return for more.
