Some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever eaten. Everyone enjoyed their meal. BYOB so don’t forget to bring a bottle of wine or some beer. You can buy at the bar across the street but it’s more expensive than a store.
Food was good but disappointed in the service. The server never cleared our appetizer or salad plates prior to serving us dinner, made for a crowded table.
We had a large group of 11 for dinner and we couldn't have picked a better place. They were very accommodating and we were all served our meals at the same time. The fact it is BYOB was also a huge plus and it was fun to share all the wine we brought. Great and friendly service!
I've been to Sausalido multiple times and the food is consistently very good. The fact that it is BYOB is another plus. The menu changes seasonally and therefore, there are opportunities to try different entrees.
I haven't been at there for about a year ad was delighted that the quality is still so high. I definitely recommend it as a great dining place.
Sausalido was packed to the rafters on Saturday yet they still managed with some small waits here and there to be very very good. It was nice to see owner Nick Mineo, who is so involved with their great catering business that we hardly see him in the restaurant, chatting and visiting with patrons. The food was really good and the wait staff pulled off the herculean task of waiting on all those tables, particularly Kate our server. Kudos to all, if you have not visited Sausalido yet you need to soon.
A group of 8 friends dined at Sausalido on Saturday evening. Our reservation was at 7:15, but the table wasn’t ready, so we happily grabbed a drink at the bar next door and were seated around 7:45. The waitress took care of our waters and opening wine bottles, but after that the service went downhill very quickly. It took ages for her to take appetizer orders and then even longer (more than an hour!) to take our entree orders. We sat at 7:45 and our entrees were delivered at 9:45. On a trip to the ladies’ room, I noted that the kitchen was a disaster. The floor was slippery, there was food everywhere. Based on other reviews, I have to believe something went terribly wrong the night of 2/24/18. Sadly, while the food could have been worse, it wasn’t nearly good enough to ever return. Our appetites were gone by that time, but the food looked like it had been sitting around, under a warmer, for way too long. Tasteless and just incredibly disappointing.
Would return for the food and the service. Very unique in its menu.
Sausalido continues to be among our favorites. The food is great and love that it's BYOB--always enjoy our time there!

Very quaint and authentic Italian restaurant. The owner interacted with us and gave us some meatballs on the House (delicious). The fried Gouda is one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had!! Excellent restaurant
Place was good but not great. It was Saturday night and 3 items off of a very limited menu were out. Appetizers were much better than entrees. Best part was that it was BYOB.
My family and I had a wonderful time. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, and the ambiance was perfect for that type of event. The food was fantastic, and so was the service. You can't go wrong at Sausalido.

We went to Salsalido with friends. We all really enjoyed our meal. All of the food tasted fresh and delish. It was a nice small room. Cozy and not all all loud with really bothers me about so many places these days. Our waitress was friendly and food all came quickly. She never made us feel rushed. It was a very nice night out.
The service was very poor even though it didn't appear to be busy. My fiancee order a pasta dish which was dry and the pasta was clumped together. Probably the lowest quality pasta I have ever seen in a restaurant. My meal came with a side of broccoli, which was a single piece of broccoli. And it took over an hour after ordering for our entrees to arrive. Although there was nearly an hour gap between serving appetizers and entrees, during which our server rarely took notice of us, the staff acted as of this as normal. No apology or even acknowledgememt of an unusually long wait. This was a first, last, and only experience.

My girlfriend and I had a great time here. The Brussel sprouts were awesome and the kitchen went out of their way to make a menu item gluten free for us and it turned out great! The pork chop and the NY Strip was great. Service was awesome and it’s BYOB!
Spent our third New Years Eve here and they never disappoint. Food was fantastic along with their friendly service.

Highly recommend! Great food and outstanding service. BYOB is great deal. Very willing to accommodate picky child food choice. Family really enjoyed our selections and the service person was friendly, attentive and spot on.
My friend and I started with the gouda cheese appetizer which was outstanding. The salads that came with dinner were not your run-of-the-mill side salad, good with a nice selection of vegetables. The artichoke bean dip that was served with the bread had a Pleasant taste although we could not decide what it was without the waitress telling us. The entrees were excellent my friend had the crab cakes and I had the hanger steak. Would definitely recommend based on this experience. It was my first time there
Absolutely loved this place! Crabcake risotto was delightful and not too expensive. My husband loved his porkchop too. Plus it's BYOB---we will definitely be going back!!
Every part of our meal delicious. We almost filled up on the pesto bean dip!

in response to a question about whether there were nuts in a pesto that came with the smoked gouda( one of us has a nut allergy) our waiter checked with the kitchen and came back and said " we are a nut friendly ." We took that as no nuts. NOT. The cheese cake granola topping definitely had nut! Good thing we caught it.
While this was a cute restaurant—service great—and food good we really had an ok experience for a few reasons. First I didn’t see any notation on OpenTable that this was BYOB, secondly, the menu on OpenTable was completely outdated—as the restaurants menu was completely different. Lastly we didn’t receive the bread and rosemary oil dip/white beans at all. And with no bar there was really no options for beverages beyond a few sodas and water. More like a locals place I guess as everyone else came prepared with wine and seemed to know the staff. Just not worth traveling for...
Wonderful service and fantastic meal! I'm always cautious eating out because I have a dairy allergy. The waitress and chef worked with me to alter a main dish just a little, so I could enjoy it dairy-free, but without losing any of it's grandeur. Always a great time and BYOB!
We have enjoyed Sausalido for years. One of our favorite "go to" places close to home.
Sausalido is consistently one of our favorite places to eat in Pittsburgh. Chef Michael's recipes are always as intriguing as they are delicious.
Neighborhood gem -- it was my first visit -- BYOB and no corkage fee.
Different food types -- so be prepared.
Appetizer -- smoked gouda was outstanding.
Polenta and sausage was tasty and not overwhelming.
Service is friendly and professional.
Will return for sure.
The meals are generally very good. The room is often cramped if it is a Friday or Saturday. We really like the option to bring your own wine for a nominal corkage fee of $2pp.
We selected this restaurant based on the reviews and four stars. Unfortunately, we left wondering why the reviews were so favorable. When we arrived, they seemed bothered, unprepared and surprised by our arrival despite being on their reservation list. A table was not ready in the main downstairs dining so we were shuttled upstairs to the dark and windowless restaurant area on the second floor. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. We should have stopped there. Our main dishes were disappointing, very tough pork tenderloin and under-cooked Swedish meatballs which seemed to be missing something (nutmeg?). The pumpkin ravioli was also under-cooked. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating which we appreciated, however, he stated he was called in last minute and usually only does catering. I hope this was just a bad night, however, we will not return.
I have been going to this restaurant for many years. The food is always delicious! We have never had a bad meal. Nick the owner is hard working and very gracious. Mike is an innovative and excellent chef. The hostess and waitstaff are warm and friendly. They all stopped and conversed with us. Very pleasant dining experience!
Unfortunately, my latest experience at Sausalido's was tainted due to the poor service. A 7:00 pm reservation was made via OpenTable a couple of days in advance. I choose Sausalido's as they accept reservations, and I was on a time crunch to make a 9:00 pm event. Unfortunately, Sausalido's did not value my reservation. I arrived 15 minutes early to make sure I was not late for the reservation. I did not expect our table to be ready as I was early, but at least the hostess knew I was ready and waiting. Shortly after 7:00 pm, I asked the hostess if our table was ready, and she noted that it would be ready shortly. After not being escorted to our table, I checked with the hostess yet again at 7:15 pm. With little luck, I then informed on of the wait staff at 7:25 pm, where we were then seated upstairs at 7:30 pm. I waited 45 minutes for a table that I had already reserved for 7:00 pm. Not only that, the table was upstairs, which they could have easily sat us at earlier in the evening. We then had to rush through dinner, so not to be late for our show. Not only that, but one of friends received a cold dish, but we did not want to complain as it would take us even longer. All of this resulted in us then having to spend money to take an uber to our location as we no longer had time to relocate our vehicles and find parking. We did not make it to our show until after 9:00 pm; therefore, we could not find seats together. I was very disappointed in Sausalido's and their service. Now I have been there before, but for a 5:00 pm reservation, so we were seated right away (as there was no one else there yet). If you decide to go to Sausalido's please make sure you either make a 5:00 pm reservation, or give yourself plenty of time to be seated.
