Sauciety is a great restaurant. Location was great and breakfast buffet was terrific.
Concierge took a breakfast reservation for 7 people the evening before the meal and didn’t inform me that the restaurant was closed. Alternatively, the business meeting had to take place in the loud lobby bar over coffee (because we had no time to use the buffet). Simply awful and a huge embarrassment.
Although there were several fish entrees on the dinner menu (swordfish and salmon), the restaurant was out of both the night we were there. In add, we had multiple servers and neither one was helpful. We had to request water multiple times and our desserts were goofed up. We did notify the manager the night we were there, but after a long busy day, we were just looking forward to a nice dinner at the hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurant did not meet our expectation. In addition, my group felt the menu was overpriced for the fare received.
The food was good the wine was good and the service was good. We went for dinner and what I particularly disliked about this hotel restaurant was that you felt like you were eating in a hotel restaurant. The lights were up and very bright, there was no mood, no atmostphere that made you feel like you could really relax and enjoy. We felt like we could have gone anywhere for the same food and a much better atmosphere. If you are a guest of the hotel this is great spot, but I would not go out of my way to dine here again.
Whatever poor reviews I saw before attending restaurant have been turned around completely. The food was amazing - my group had duck, mahi mahi and chicken. When duck ran out, I was offered filet in its place... To be honest, the "choose your sauce" thing is kinda gimicky since the food was prepared so well you didn't really need/want the sauce to alter the taste (although spiced up the chicken dish) but was an interesting experience. Drinks were really well made. Service was available whenever needed (chef even came out to make apologies for shortage of duck)- would have expected a less casual waitstaff for the atmosphere, but were friendly regardless.
Went restaraunt week, three great choices, excellent starters and deserts. Recommend highly and will return.
I went for resturant week and would never go back, or recommend this place to a friend.
Im so glad i went with the pre fix menu because the food was definatly NOT worth the prices they had listed...
Average is all i can say about Saucity....I had heard some great thinks but i did not have the same experience. it was Valentines Day and the dining room was half full, but the service was terrible. We arrived a half hour early and sat at the bar for a drink. the hostess forgot about us and we had to go remind her to seat us twice! It didnt get any better from there taking over 15 mins for the waitress to come over and say hello. The food was average but not a $40 piece of steak...At one point the manager came over to ask how the meal was and I explained the lakc of service and he said his kitchen was being overworked because of how busy they were....If that was a busy night i would not want to be there when the dinning room is full.
The food was decent and the sauces were tasty but our food took a very long time and then was cold. The salad marked "vegan" on the vegetarian menu came covered in cheese. My husband's drink had something floating in it so we needed to send it back. We were sat next to the door where the waiters come in and out of the kitchen despite several other open tables and got to hear one waiter clear his throat as he passed us. As we finished, an employee "cleaned" the table next to us only wiping down the tablemat with a wet cloth and leaving crumbs on the table. Overall, not at all worth the pricetag.
Chose this restaurant as it has a separate vegetarian menu. It is in a Westin Hotel, so had couples, families and groups there for dinner. The service and food were good and it had a nice atmosphere. We would go back again if we were in that area of Boston.
We had a pleasant experience at Sauciety during our stay at the Boston Westin Waterfront while attending a conference. The appetizer and entree selections were varied and interesting. However, no chef specials are offered. We selected the pork chop and tenderloin dishes followed by their warm bread pudding. Everything was delicious. Service was good and the wine list affordable. Overall, we had a very good experience.
I took my wife to Sauciety for her birthday, and she was definitely impressed. Though the restaurant is located in the Westin hotel, it manages to isolate itself sufficiently from the lobby and creates a cool, sophisticated atmosphere. The staff were friendly and adequate, though the service got a bit slow when the restaurant started filling up. The food was good, and the concept of the restaurant is effective, since the different sauces do create different flavors with the entrees. My only other complaint is that everything was a bit pricey, but for a special occasion, Sauciety will not disappoint.
Sauciety is a typical high end hotel restaurant. People of all ages and backgrounds can be found in Sauciety's dining room. However, it's not fit for a romantic evening with your husband when you're surrounded by children at 9pm, especially when you've arranged to leave your child at home! The food in general was just ok. My swordfish was very tasty and our knowledgeable server suggested a sauce that wasn't even on the menu. My husband's steak, however, was overcooked and disappointing (we had better steak at Outback). Portions are conservative. Order more side dishes and an appetizer and skip the poor dessert selection. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, but our she kept disappearing. It took 3 hours to eat our meal!
I was very disappointed with Sauciety--everything from the food to the service was terrible. It started with the host rudely sharing that we were 6 minutes late (although there were plenty of open tables and NO one waiting). The food was not good--the tastiest items were the bread basket and accompanying spreads. The steak was overcooked and tough. The risotto tasted like a bottle of wine. The cappuccino was not a cappuccino but rather a double espresso with NO foam. The service was poor and in great need of an etiquette lesson. It's rare that I am so critical about a restaurant but there is no reason that anyone should go to Sauciety--especially with all of the wonderful establishments in a city like Boston.
This is a gret theme for a restuarant, but Sauciety does not coem through on it. There is a good selection of sauces, but they taste like they came out of a jar. It is extremely overpriced and I would never eat here again. That being said, the calamari is very good, the wine is very good and service was excellent.
The service was great, and the food was tasty. I would go back, but the portions are small, so great for girls who don't want to be stuffed but I can't see how a guy would ever be satisfied.
Sauciety is a bit out of the way, located at the Westin down in the Seaport district but it was worth the trek. The food was really good and trying all the sauces made for a really fun dinning experience. The service was fabulous! Our waiter was really nice and when we asked to move tables because we were seated next to the somewhat noisy bar area they were extremely accommodating!
The food here was fabulous, and the staff was very accomodating when my friends and I insisted on having more bread in order to finish off the sauces. GET THE SAUCES. I don't care if they go with your meal, eat them with bread. Absolutely tremendous.
Great selection of food, sauces are fun and an interesting twist, plus the service/attention was great for us.
Large, open dining room geared for large groups. Makes perfect sense being next to the convention center, but definitely not the place for an intimate dining experience. We happened to be there on Monday night of Restaurant Week and it was nearly empty. Select menu for Restaurant Week was adequate but not inspired. With so many restuarants in Boston from which to choose, it is unlikely we would return.
We had an awful experience. I always thought that restaurant week was about local restaurants putting their best foot forward. Sauciety acctually tried to discourage us from ordering off the restaurant week menu because they had modified the portion sizes so much that they felt we would be disappointed. Once we decided on the "special" menu, it was as if we were not as good as other patrons who were ordering from the regular menu. Portions were miniscule as compared to what they normally serve. We were served 1 shrimp as appetizer, 4oz of flank steak, and a hard brownie sundae. We ordered a "regular" side of rissoto which was HUGE by comparisson. They tossed our generous left-overs! I quote, "They're in the trash." No upfront appology!
We went for an earlier dinner, so the noise level was low, but I can imagine when it gets crowded that it gets noisy, as the restaurant is open to the hotel lobby. Food was good. My lobster salad was the best course. The steak was a little fatty, and the desert brownie was a bit dry. Overall great service, and being able to choose sauces made it a fun, unique experience. It was my boyfriend's birthday, and they sang to him and gave us an extra desert, which was really nice.
I dined here during Restaurant Week, and so expected service to be a bit slower than usual, but the restaurant was less than half full and it still took 25 minutes from the time I ordered until my drink arrived, and three inquiries from the waitress asking, "did your drink come?" Well, no, see how there's no martini glass on the table?
The food was grim. My entree of flank steak had to have amounted to no more than three ounce of meat with, albeit with a fairly good bernaise sauce. The vegetable accompaniment was a single brussel's sprout, although it was cut in half so that certianly made it seem like more (ahem).
Needless to say I will never dine here again.
This was a very average restauarnt and was disappointing
We went there for restaurant week and were very disappointed at the size of the portions. We have eaten in many restaurants during restaurant week this year and years past. The appetizer had one shrimp and a different one had only a one inch circle of lobster salad. The stripped bass also was a strip not even one inch wide. We ate last night at the Intercontinental Hotel Miel dining room. The food portions were not different with from diners not eating the restaurant menu and the restaurant made us feel like special guests.
It is a nice location if you live in South Boston and want a special night out. It is really close to the convention center if you have extra money it would be a nice place to go before a show or something.
I was really looking forward to this Restaurant Week reservation. I had heard mix reviews but most of them were positive. However, after dining at Sauciety, I was less than thrilled. The service was very inattentive. For instance, we ordered a bottle of white wine which the waiter brought out to the table after 20 min without an ice bucket. He just left the bottle on the table through out our meal.
The food was not worth it either. The appetizer looked promising and was tasty, but not enough. The presentaiton of the Bass was unappealing and the kitchen overcooked the steak. Finally, I feel that I could have gone to Friendly's and had a better desert.
It was far away and I would not go out of my way to go back there.
Sauciety has a very cool contemporary look to it. Great plates and bowls too, lol! The food is very good but not mind blowing or anything. The seafood cobb salad is to die for. It's still just a hotel restaurant though, but it's good and I'd reccommend it. It's in the Westin Waterfont hotel which has a GORGEOUS lobby. If youre looking for flash/pizzaz with an adequate if not slightly above average menu Sauciety is for you. Like I said, Ive been before, and I'd go again. One major disappointment was the parking. I aksed the valet if they validated and he said yes. When I returned he asked for $20. I told him I was validated and he said, "Oh, then it's $10". Apparently validation only gives you only 50% off..shoulda told me that to begin with

The staff was very solicitous and helpful, and the atmosphere was comfortable and quiet, making for a very nice experience. The food was excellent. One of our party especially appreciated having a vegetarian menu to choose from. All the dishes stood out on their own as very well done, not needing the sauces except as an interesting complement. The sauce concept seems a little strained in that the sauces are more ancillary than central to the food, and thus seem more like an enhancement of the dishes than a reason for being for the restaurant. The restaurant could dare to be a little more adventurous with the sauces. For example, I expected the 'jerk' sauce to be very hot but the spiciness was barely discernable. Overall - excellent.
We were there pretty early in the evening in order to make it to a show, so it was hard to tell what the ambiance would be and whether or not there was any kind of bar scene. Food was very good though.
Enjoyable ambiance-sauce sharing fun-service was slow-2.5 hours is a long time for three courses
Hostess was rude and ill-mannered and set a bad tone for the meal. Waitress was pleasant, but seemed to be overworked.

For a restaurant famed for sauces...the spreads with bread were all typical and too similar. They were all VERY garlicky. One with garlic great-all three? The Sauces in general didn't have enough kick. Disappointing. Won't go back unless staying in Westin. Fine for hotel lobby but not great for destination dining.
I had read some reviews before my reservation that said the service was bad. However, I have never been one to cancel a reservation bc of poor reviews. After our entree but prior to our dessert we came to realize that the waitress had not once come over between courses to see how our meal was or to see if we needed anything. we couldnt even see her to signal that we wanted drinks. Our serving assistant, Cheri however was GREAT! she could see we were annoyed and come over to check on us. She got us our drinks, and even comped them. I dont know if they assume bc it is restaurant week they dont need to bother with their customers but I found this rude and I would not return.
When I tried to get a reservation for other hours of the day, the online reservation service said the restaurant was completely booked. However, when we arrived, the entire restaurant was empty during the whole 2 hours we were there! Service was ok. They tried to take away our plates before we finished eating and despite how EMPTY the restaurant was, they tried to get us out of there as soon as possible. It was definitely not a leisurely dinner.
