Satchel's on 6th Ratings and Reviews
The service was wonderful and the ambience sublime.
The majority of the table enjoyed the burger and duck fries and salmon and crab cakes.
But my husband and I ordered the duck which was lackluster: undercooked and tough. Baklava was also subpar.
I really love the vibe of this place so plan to return for drinks and apps.
We went to Satchel's because it was close to the Botanical and what a find. The food was very Good, items were flavorful and items you just can't make at home at least not easily. The charcuterie plate was great as we the cauliflower soup, something I would never order but it was outstanding! Fries in duck fat were also good. I had the Stout which was great and my wife had Tanq and tonic and Leigh had some chardonnay. You are right on 6th Ave but there was absolutely no noise from the street. We will be back!
Staff are so friendly and service was great. Cute cozy neighborhood restaurant. However, the food was less than mediocre. Crab cakes were good however the Satchel
Burger was served cold and the bun was oversized and tasted stale. My spouses entree was not flavorful and the cut of meat was tough. Chocolate dessert was bland and the crust Was not fresh. I would definitely go back for drinks ,! Crab cakes and sit at the cozy bar but not for dinner.
I almost hate to write a positive review for satchel's on 6th, because it is so good I don't want to share! It is the best a neighborhood restaurant can be. It's relaxed quality is familiar, and delicious. And you can taste the pride in every cocktail and meal!
My husband I wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time. Took our two older children. Very limited food options for them. We adults enjoyed the menu. Overpriced for what you get in regards to both drinks and food. Service was slow so be patient. Thank you.
Satchel's is a little neighborhood gem where the food and service is always good. They have a great record collection they play and they take album requests if you want to hear something in particular. If we want a good, reasonably priced meal we always go to Satchel's.
We never get to Satchel's as much as we mean to, since it is right there in our neighborhood, but every time we do we are very pleasantly satisfied. The people who work there are so friendly and accommodating. We had a delicious tomato and burrata salad to start, and it was enough for three of us to share. Ingredients were fresh and bursting with flavor, the balsamic reduction sauce was really a great compliment to the acidic tomatoes and the creamy burrata. The we each had a steak frites (but this particular evening the "frites" were replaced with crispy fingerling potatoes). The steak was cooked to perfection and had a carrot top chimichurri (there were the most delicious braised carrots with our steaks and nothing went to waste). We were so happy with our meal! The only hesitation I have about recommending Stachel's is that it may get too crowded for us to get a table relatively easily!
Excellent food, well prepared, had steak well cooked, tender, salad had fresh ingredients, good dressing, excellent drinks well prepared we had perfect manhattans with rye whiskey, friendly owner and staff cozy, nice brick walls, bar in middle of restaurant for good bar seating for singles or couples, a little noisy.
