Satchel's on 6th
Named after the owner’s youngest son, Satchel’s on 6th is the place to eat and drink. Our Chef has created a contemporary, eclectic, New American neighborhood menu using seasonal ingredients that results in refined flavors and inspired plates. Our service is friendly, atmosphere relaxed and sophisticated. Join us for Dinner, Sunday Service, or Happy Hour. We've put our heart and soul into this place and it gives us great pleasure to serve you. Now open every Sunday night for family meal and don't forget that we offer 25% off bottles of wine every Tuesday night.
Warm wood tones and exposed brick highlight this cozy, 50 seat space that has made its home on East Denver's reinvigorated 6th Avenue. Says Casalini, "Our goal is to become the best go-to, indispensable restaurant in the neighborhood. Period. End of story."
Liz was an excellent wait person- knowledgeable and attentive without being overly intrusive. Super food and good wine selection, but the noise level got to be too much for a casual conversation with my wife.
Thanks so much for having a rather large group on Sunday to celebrate her birthday. When asked what she wanted to do, she immediately said, "Satchels" This is our go to place and love the vibe and the staff!
They were very busy on Valentine's day. Our server was frazzled and forgot to put in our drink order. He came back to ask what we had ordered in a rushed and rude tone, like it was our fault he had forgotten our order. Well, he must have seen the surprise and disappointment on our faces, because he course corrected and was courteous and more humble for the rest our time at the restaurant. I love Satchels, so was glad they redeemed themselves after a minor slip up.
Satchel’s is always a treat. Inventive takes on every dish and great cocktails. “We’re all in this together”, vibe toward enjoying life.
We had a sweet Valentines Day dinner. Beets, scallops and fried chicken were tasty and the service was also great!
Went for Valentine’s Day and that can be a challenge. They absolutely crushed it—fantastic food and service. This place is a jewel.
Always great consistent food and Awesome service!!
Came here for Valentine’s Day last minute, and it was fabulous! Amazing food and fun atmosphere. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a great meal.
Wow! What a hidden gem. Can't believe we had not found this place before. Aside from being a little chilly (it's an older space and it was only 25 degrees out!) everything was wonderful. the food was delicious even though we were not aware ahead of time that they had a different menu on Sundays. Service was good and drink/wine choices were spot on. We especially love the record player and great selection of music played. Will definitely be back.
Our table wasn’t ready for 40 mins past our reservation time. Having said that, the host was quick to seat us at the bar and serve us cocktails quickly. Food was great and service was excellent once we were seated at a table. Fun, energetic vibe with vinyl 80’s music spinning away.
This is our new favorite place. We can walk there and always see neighbors and friends. Last Friday was magical as we ate with friends and the snow was falling! We'll be back.
We introduced another couple to Satchel's and they (and we) were so pleased with a particularly fun and delicious evening. Fun with live music and a bustling venue. Delicious--fried chicken and a marvelous duck breast dish; then Brown Butter Cake for dessert. Can't miss
Wonderful! Very tasty, moderately priced food with a cozy atmosphere. We’ll be back!
Reminds one of old neighborhood restaurants with a regular clientele. Very friendly service. Could have a few more menu items or daily specials.
Lovely little neighborhood jewel. Good, food, cocktails and service. Fun lively vibe.
Delicious and delightful neighborhood restaurant Love the potatoes with smoked butter salmon toast and tenderloin skewers. Beet and kale salad with roasted vegetables just so tasty and comforting overall
Always a great time. Magic service, wonderful food, warm ambiance, great music...great neighborhood vibe!
My food was somewhat tasteless but others enjoyed their meals. But the noise was unbearable. Love the ambience but level of noise will keep us from going again.
Love this place! Great people and great food with a thoughtful menu. Thanks to staff!
Always our favorite neighborhood restaurant!
Always the perfect neighborhood restaurant! Service superb and food always exceeds expectations.
Great. As always!
Great place! We've been several times and they love to shake up the menu with fun and tasty new items. They keep the menu relatively small and make sure each dish is great, vs. massive menus with huge selection but mediocre quality. Whether you're a new guest or a local/regular, you'll feel like family with great service, lots of attention, and an always fun atmosphere. Give it a shot and you'll thank yourself!
My favorite place in the neighborhood!
Service was fun and engaging, food was amazing, and the restaurant was small and cozy.
Fantastic place to have great food without the pretentiousness of white table cloth restaurants, and reasonably priced. Excellent wine and cocktail menu. The service is personal and attentive. It's relatively small so don't be surprised if you strike up a conversation with people next to you.
Small and adorable place. Unfortunately there was a birthday party for someone the night we were there so we could barely hear each other. Food was tasty! Butternut squash hummus with the house made pumpkin crackers was delicious!!! Loved the lighting and vibe. Would nearly 100% recommend if it weren’t so loud.
it was excellant!!
Great neighborhood location, great food, great service. Friendly atmosphere.
Satchels was a great experience. Definitely make a reservation as it is a small neighborhood spot. The vibe is amazing with vinyl records playing while a movie is projected on the back wall. The food was okay with small plates that came out a little colder than preferred but the service was attentive. Great drinks and just a very cool atmosphere. Go here if you get the chance.
Thank you for the review and feedback. We are always trying to improve our service in both the Front and Back of House. Hope to see you again soon!
I really wanted to love this place when we first walked in. It looks just like a classic neighborhood gem. However, several things led me to rate it poorly. The first issue was the size of my pasta carbonara. It was so skimpy, I thought there had been a mistake. Even our waiter said he agreed that the portion was small. After a salad, shared appetizers and pasta, I went home hungry. BMy wife’s hamburger tasted fine but the bun had to be 2 days old. My son’s duck breast was good but not outstanding. Despite the very small pasta portion it cost $29!!! The same for the average duck.
I mentioned something to the staff who graciously wanted to make things better and though I said no, still sent me home with a carry out of pasta. The last problem was the carbonara was not very tasty, even with a few black truffles.
The staff were all very nice but this will not be the neighborhood gem for us.
We have been here before and the food is excellent, but tonight’s clientele was incredibly loud and my husband and I couldn’t talk to each other at all. Guests should understand this is a small place and be respectful of other diners.
All excellent except noise level a little high, but overall a fun experience, seeing neighborhood friends.
This is a very good place. If the only reservation available is at the bar, take it. The food is so good, atmosphere is fun, casual and comfortable.
Phenomenal scene and staff!
What an “unhidden” treasure! I have driven by numerous times but never considered eating there until I searched for a restaurant that could accommodate food sensitivities for my friend. Everything’s about the dining experience was terrific. I will definitely be coming back again and again.
I've been here many times and it keeps going down hill Sunday family food is the pits!
I love our little local restaurant. But the last two times the noise level has been overwhelming. We agreed never to go again, despite very good food and friendly if inefficient service. We will miss it.
Fun spot, great people and service — very creative!
I have a gluten, dairy and soy allergy but had a delicious dinner and great service. There are some Sunday nights when they only serve one thing like fried chicken so if you are Celiac don’t go on those nights. I heard they have a Paella night without gluten so I am planning on going to that night soon.
