Satchel's on 6th
Named after the owner’s youngest son, Satchel’s on 6th is the place to eat and drink. Our Chef has created a contemporary, eclectic, New American neighborhood menu using seasonal ingredients that results in refined flavors and inspired plates. Our service is friendly, atmosphere relaxed and sophisticated. Join us for Dinner, Sunday Service, or Happy Hour. We've put our heart and soul into this place and it gives us great pleasure to serve you. Now open every Sunday night for family meal and don't forget that we offer 25% off bottles of wine every Tuesday night.
Warm wood tones and exposed brick highlight this cozy, 50 seat space that has made its home on East Denver's reinvigorated 6th Avenue. Says Casalini, "Our goal is to become the best go-to, indispensable restaurant in the neighborhood. Period. End of story."
Satchel's is not really as good as it should be. Folks, this is a little "neighborhood" joint, and I think it might be best just to have a drink at the bar. The food is good and solid and I believe good ingredients are used... BUT, it is not at all good value. Most every entre is around $30 (including the chicken). I took my wife and 2 kids there and our total bill was about $200 (this was for 1 entree each and 1 glass of wine each-- no apps or desserts). Pretty pricey for a place like this. We also found it, on a WEEK NIGHT even, to be extremely noisy, like off-the-charts-noisy. Too bad, because I like the fact that they spin vinyl records (could not hear it a bit over the din, and had to yell to talk). Now, the wine list. I first discovered Satchel's because of the wine (I am in the wine business) and they use good stems (Riedel) and have decent wines on their list, including BTG. However (again!)... CHANGE IT UP, FOLKS!! You've had the same wines by the glass for it seems years-- there is a tone of good stuff out there. If they had a Somm or a wine-savvy person, this would fix itself and you'd have wine specials. Also-- $18/glass for a Pinot Noir?? (admittedly, it is a very good Pinot, but still...). We found the service just "ok"-- correct, but not personal really, maybe a tad of an attitude.
Overall, disappointed and there are better places nearby that have better ambiance, service and much much better value.
Great staff and wonderful food. Went with a large group and everything was awesome
My favorite place in Denver!
Best neighborhood restaurant in Denver. Great service, amazing food and perfect ambiance.
The service and ambiance were great. It was at times really noisy. The food was good but the dessert and cappuccinos were disappointing. I will go back again for a do-over of both because it is a fun place.
The food and service are always great!
One of the best meals we have enjoyed in Denver. Very knowledgeable, friendly server. Initially I thought that the cost of wine by the glass was too steep ... until I tasted the Pinot Noir. Worth every penny for the first ... and second... glass!
We shall return ... soon.
Lacey was amazing, the food was great! Will go back soon!
Our favorite restaurant in Denver! Great food, wine and atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or celebration!
Excellent food in a neighborhood "pub" atmosphere. A bit noisy.
Great food, great service! High quality in a casual, inviting environment.
First time dining at Satchel’s and we were very pleased with everything about our dinner. The server pleasant and efficient. Well made drinks from the bar to enjoy and the food was delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant transports one to Europe, smaller, quaint places to dine. Plus the music is provided by albums and what an assortment.
Excellent food and service. Always good, but this was best we have had.
You’ll definitely want to have a reservation. Very small place with quirky decor. Excellent food with fairly high prices. We went early on a Tuesday evening, and it was still pretty full.
This was a sweet spot! The food was excellent. We came for restaurant week and if they were trying to show off they certainly did. I had a seafood pasta that had shrimp that were perfectly cooked, not the chewy over cooked style. All three course was delicious. I am glad we checked it out.
The food and ambiance was excellent.
Absolutely fantastic neighborhood spot. Embarrassed I never heard of it until my recent visit restaurant week... great experience all around. Kitchen is spot on. Good wine selection. Friendly staff. Nice job.
Food was great
The food is excellent ... but the noise level is deafening. Can’t even hear the wonderful vinyl on turntable music. Please install baffels on the ceiling or I can’t come back and sample another of the chef’s excellent creations.
Consistently well taken care of here - a great place to get dinner!
Their menu was too small, not have enough choices.
They had only one kind of salad, which was plain and had no flavor.
After we were seated and the waiter finally took our order (a while) it took another 20 minutes approx. for us to get our salads. The food took a long time to come out. We both had the "Butcher Block Steaks". My date said the best thing about her meal was the scalloped potatoes. I thought the entire meal was mediocre at best. The service was lacking the entire night. Very disappointing especially based on all of the reviews on OpenTable. We eat out a lot and won't be coming back here.
Once again another great meal.
Comfy, bistro atmosphere! Fun Valentine's Day menu. Service was great!
It was a perfect experience—great menu, great service, cozy neighborhood ambiance. Sometimes it can be a bit too noisy for us, but this time it was pleasantly lively.
A superb local bistro, where all the details have been thought of, but unless you’re paying close attention, you wouldn’t notice, and don’t need to, as it’s an easy, casual establishment, with subtle sophistication.
I love Satchel’s. Great food, wonderful service, warm atmosphere. Met a friend at the bar for a glass of wine, then had dinner with another friend. The ricotta gnudi was delicious. Small but well curated menu and wine list. I’m lucky to have Satchel’s as one of my neighborhood spots.
Satchel's is the best neighborhood restaurant going!
One of our faves, and it never disappoints. The food menu is limited, but we’ve never had trouble finding something we like. And fewer items means more attention paid to each.
Cozy and beautiful neighborhood spot with fantastic food and wine. Enjoyed the burger, fries, sprouts salad, and muscles with my dad. We will definitely be back. Great touch with the record player too!
Great ambiance, service food, drinks and people. Love the vinyl tunes as well!
Excellent food and service. We will go back. This a great spot for a date night.
Best cocktails in Denver. Delicious burger. Cozy, laid back, yet classy environment. Will be returning to try more of the menu!
Cozy neighborhood spot
Very tasty burger and more
The food is good, well prepared and well presented. The service is casual, friendly, personal, and excellent. The overall feel of the place is casual sophisticated without being pretentious. My lady and I go back often.
This place is a gem. Feel as if it gets forgotten through the rapid expansion of the hospitality industry in Denver. But, great food, ambiance, and staff. Love it.
New Years Eve dinner ! Simply the best food and service!
Food was very good and we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. We had the winter salad and duck fat fries to start, both very good. I had the arctic char and sunchokes which was delicious. Service was good with friendly staff, could be a little more attentive to water and keeping table clean. Overall great dining experience.
Food was pretty good. Fish good, beef a bit tough. Overpowering bar, too much noise.
Amazing food, great staff, a little pricey but worth it.
