Great little restaurant! Great service - appears very clean- great food! Will be back!
Fast turn around, great food, friendly service!
We just enjoyed another great vegan meal at Satay...it's a hidden gem for vegeterians and vegans here in Austin!
Read a lot of reviews before choosing Satay to meet friends for dinner. Some reviewers, who described themselves as being very familiar with Thai dishes, described their (Satay's) food as "bland". I suppose that could depend on the menu choices made. We dined on our 47th wedding anniversary and most recently al fresco with friends. On both occasions we were not disappointed. We will continue to patronize Satay until then.
We don't believe you would be disappointed. If you are, please accept our apology for steering you wrong. Stuff happens. Would it be a first? Probably not. Decide for yourself and vote with your wallet!
BTW, lots of choices on the menu. Some are pricey, some are not. Choose accordingly.
This was the first visit for my husband and me. I have wanted to dine here for a long time. We were celebrating the birthday of the husband of the couple who joined us on this occasion; and for them, they had been coming here for years. And, for all of us, this was a wonderful experience. Foo came to our table and visited with us and our experience was made even the more amazing, if that was possible! We can't say enough about the dishes we ordered for our dinner. . . everyone was pleased and the dishes were shared around. We can't wait to revisit Satay and highly recommend the experience to others! You will NOT be disappointed!
A hearty dark roux filled with the holy trinity, cilantro and thai veggies and spices. A little light on seafood this time, but everyone should try it, maybe often. Doctor Swasdee has another creative dish!
We went for lunch last Friday and had the worst food that I've had in a very long time. My wife had chicken pad Thai and I had Asian flat noodle with chicken. The chicken in both was rubbery and tasted a little off as if it was on the verge of going bad. The flavor on both was lackluster, but they flat noodle dish was almost fishy and sour. my wife loves pad Thai and has it as often as she can. She says this was the worst she's ever had. There are too many good restaurants in Austin to ever waste time going here again.
After years of visiting Satay only with a friend from work, I finally got my Boyfriend to go for dinner...AND HE LOVED IT! Now he asks to go more than I do. YAY!
Everything on the menu was unbelievably fresh. The sauces were perfect compents to the entrees. This was our first time dining at Satay and we will definitely return!
I brought my boyfriend here for the first time and he has declared that we must return. Yay! I always enjoy visiting Satay. This time I had the Laksa Noodle Soup with chicken and my standard Mango Martini! The boyfriend had both Thai and Vietnamese Egg Rolls.
Great food in a setting that is casual and not fancy. Interesting dishes!
Food and service is always excellent and I come here a lot for lunch.
I love coming here because the food is always great and also wait staff is very attentive. During the afternoon It is never that busy so feels like having the place to yourself.
Some of the best Thai food we've found in Austin (we lived in southeast Asia for a year so we know good Thai). We try something new on the menu each time and it always turns out delicious. Each of the dishes are extremely fresh and full of flavor. Definitely worth giving a try
If you like good Thai, this place will surely disappoint. The coconut soup had separated - it's by far the worst we've had in NW Austin. And the drunken noodles were visually bland and tasted the same. We will not go back.
I come here often and always enjoy the food and the waitstaff is very pleasant...has the mom and pop feel.
I didn't like the food here – it was fried in unhealthy oils, was lackluster, and frankly unimpressive for Thai – but the scenery was something else. The whole shop glowed with a kind of magic, and I'll be back again soon just for that.
I always enjoy eating here...best Thai food in Austin ...great waitress too
The larb gai was hard to find on the menu, we had to ask. It was worth it - nice entree size, with lots of mint.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you know Thai food, this is definitely not the place for you. Everything seemed to have been made well in advance and just kept warm. We were really disappointed.
