SASSI Ratings and Reviews
We wanted to celebrate our 39th anniversary and knew Sassi would be a good restaurant for that. We were greeted with complimentary Prosecco since we were celebrating. As it was our first time, the staff was very helpful with menu selections. We also spent time with their sommelier and she recommended good wines for our food choices. The food and presentation were excellent. Based on so many reviews, we tried the octopus and were pleasantly surprised how delicious and tender it was. It's accompaniments were perfectly seasoned arugula and hot spicy peppers. The salad with goat cheese was light and deliciously dressed. For entrees my husband ordered the wagyu beef. He said he would return and order it again. I had the pork chop that was served on a bed of polenta and dressed up with pesto. It was delicious. The spiced small fruit was the perfect compliment. For dessert we were given a complimentary order of delicious cannolis and we also ordered the Italian cookies. The cookies were fresh and crisp and the perfect compliment to my espresso and my husband's cappuccino.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who may be celebrating or simply want a fabulous restaurant experience. If you go, take the time to DINE in one of Arizona's finest.
We have had dinner at Sassi many times and it never fails to offer good food, wonderful ambiance, good wait staff, and is in a part of Scottsdale that has few select options for dining. We were devastated to hear that this restaurant will be closing next May to make way for a Senior living facility. It seems that this beautiful architectural masterpiece will be leveled to make way for more apartment style buildings. The loss of Sassi will be deeply felt by many of us who are repeat customers looking for a friendly, quiet and classy experience. Make a reservation and enjoy this business while it still exists.
We have been to Sassi several times and once again, for overall Experience; Atmosphere, Setting, Food, Service etc. etc. it just doesn't get any better than Sassi. Went for my wife's birthday with a total of 5 in our party and it was just wonderful. This high-end Italian lays out the menu by courses. We started out with the house-made warmed Olives, Eggplant Fritters, Meatballs in red sauce and one of the specialties of the house, Wood Grilled Octopus with Crispy Lentils and Candied Chilis. All were flavorful and satisfying. For the Primi we shared 3 plentiful homemade pasta dishes around the table. The Garganelli with Wild Boar Ragu, Safron Cavatelli with Pork Ragu, and Ricotta Gnocchi with Taleggio Cheese and Shaved Black Truffles. All were sublime! For main courses we had the Branzino, Flat Iron Steak and the Iberico Pork Chops. The Creamy Polenta that came with the pork chops was "other-worldly". Just crazy good!! For desert we had homemade Cannolis and Coffee Affogato (Ice-cream with Espresso poured over the top). A little sweet, a little bitter and little pick-me-up. The service was very attentive bordering on doting which was refreshing given the legions of high end restaurants these days that rush you along in order to turn tables. Sassi is a bit expensive depending on what wine you order but it's not shocking given the level of service and experience. Apparently the restaurant is closing in June of 2018 to make way for another project so get there in the next 6 months so you can experience Sassi in all it's glory. Unparalleled in this area of the country!! Really an treat!!
A somewhat hidden gem in North Scottsdale. Italian motif, but they have exceptional food that is not explicitly Italian cuisine. Server was attentive and very engaging. Food was exceptionally well-prepared and delicious. Room was romantic. What can I say, besides we'll be sorry to see this marvelous venue close next year.
Sassi has a lovely facility. It is charming and romantic. The menu could be expanded. I found a limited number of entree choices that I could order. Our meal was delicious. The bread that is served is fabulous and the drinks we had in the bar, were excellent.
Sassi was recommended by several of our friends, and though it is pretty close to our home, we had never dined there before. For our anniversary this year, we decided to give it a try, and it was well worth it. We had an early reservation, so there were not many other diners when we arrived, but that give us the pick of the patio for our table. We also got to experience the sunset, which made the experience even better. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere divine, and the food was delicious. What more can one ask for? Highly recommended for a special occasion, or just a quite night out.
Great restaurant that is unfortunately, closing soon. But I was there for opening night and again, last week and plenty of times in between. It is a very nice spot for dates, romance, pretty scenery if you dine outside. The food is good but in my humble opinion, over priced considering the quality. In other words, these prices should give you exceptional dinners and I think most diners would conclude these meals are good but pretty ordinary. Same with the drinks. Two glasses of house wines was over $40.00
