SASSI Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had never been to Sassi, however, we had heard positive things about it. So, we celebrated our anniversary there recently at a lovely table by the fireplace. It is truly a beautiful place - gorgeous finishes, warm atmosphere, terrific patio dining area, would be a fantastic wedding venue. While the food was very good, the menu is surprisingly limited...i.e. only six selections in starters, pastas/salad, and entree (didn't see any desserts listed, however, we were treated to a delicious cannoli to celebrate our anniversary). I chose the snapper and it was already sold out at 7:30 pm. My husband had the veal chop which he enjoyed. I ended up with the Branzino, also good. It was not a busy evening, even though it was Saturday night. Our server, who was delightful, said there were no reservations beyond 8 pm that night! This restaurant is closing in June, so if you have been wanting to try it, make your plans, but be aware of the limited menu.
We frequently use Sassi for family celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. This time it was to celebrate the engagement of our niece and her fiancé who were visiting from Texas. When I placed the reservation I noted the celebration and its purpose. Unlike other times, no mention was made by the staff. Additionally, after being seated we were totally ignored by the wait staff for quite some time. Once our waitress arrived she was disinterested and rushed. Totally disappointing visit for our party of 6. What a let down from what we anticipated.
When we arrived for the 8:30pm seating (at 8:00pm), due to a lack of signage or direction from employees, we couldn't tell where to enter. It was as if Sassi didn't care to expend the effort to insure the customer service one would expect from a $400+ special event dinner for two. I must admit ... this initial impression soured the experience a bit. I enjoyed the quality of the food and the service, but the lack of presentation and information for the special NYE event made it seem almost like an afterthought or last-minute preparation
I discovered Sassi is closing its doors in 2018 ... perhaps this is why the famous Sassi attention to detail seemed ... a bit lacking?
The overall experience on NYE was horrendous. The service was non existent and the food was almost inedible. For $250/person I would have rather flushed the money down the toilet, stayed home and went to bed early. This was honestly one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever eaten. If it wasn’t for the good company of friends we would have walked out.
Unfortunately on our Second wedding anniversary this was not the best choice. The ambiance was amazing and that’s about it . The manager on that night came in and walked right past to ask another couple how there dinner was . Had she stopped I may have told her. My husband and I eat out a lot and really wanted a new special place . Sassi was not it . The waiter was lucky he even received a tip
Our experience was nothing short of SPECTACULAR !! Our waiter was SO professional and took care of our every need !!! My husband and I each had the same main entree of Iberico "Belloza" Pork Chop which was the BEST we have ever experienced !!! We also complemented the pork chop with a Capresse salad which was delicious as well !!! Our drinks from the bar came quickly and were DELICIOUS !!! The ambiance is unbelievable at this restaurant !!! Quiet, tucked away tables and a wonderful experience as a whole !!! Scottsdale is LUCKY to have this restaurant and we should be fighting/petitioning to keep Sassi open !!!! It is an entirely wonderful experiencing dining at this restaurant !!!!
A beautiful restaurant with lovely ambiance and a creative menu! As out of state visitors, we make a point of eating dinner here during every one of our annual trips. Very sad to learn that it's closing in summer 2018, but look forward to following Executive Chef Chris Nicosia wherever he goes next!
