I have eaten here so many times I can’t count but this the experience was not the same. The hostess seated us first at a bad table then didn’t give us menus. The waiter was engaging but forgot part of order. But the real problem was the food. There must be a different chef from our last brunch because the food was not the same. The omelette was over cooked and the folded eggs were fine but not up to their standard.

This was a special occasion to meet with two friends whom I have not seen in ages. The serving staff were excellent: they allowed us time and space to chat and also enjoy an excellent meal. The fish tacos are my favourite in the city, and I have them every visit. I must try something else soon! Wonderful ambiance, delicious food and great service - who could ask for more?

Service was excellent - friendly, efficient, unfazed by our 9pm reservation. Three shared starters: Tuna and shrimp ceviche was very good, although not blown-away-memorable. Hummus was excellent. Spaghetti could have been a little more al dente. Chicken for main - new item on the menu. Excellent. Brussel sprout side was an imaginative take on what has become a routine and dull dish for most restaurants - addition of pumpkin seeds, as an example, was inspired. NY Cheesecake didn't disappoint. Drinks - vodka martini was great. Rhubarb cocktail looked interesting, but was out. Spicy dark and stormy equivalent was not particularly special. Price of ~$120 pp. US, including 20% tip, was very reasonable. Overall, I would definitely add it to my roster of restaurants if I lived in the city, but not quite at a level that I'd urge people to include on their itinerary if they were visiting. Would give it 6/7 or 8.5/10 on a different scoring scale.

It was a beautiful day and we were sitting outside. It was busy as it was Father’s Day. The food was really good and the service overall, also pretty good despite being very busy. The only thing I would add is that having ordered the eggs Benedict, I asked to switch the peameal bacon to regular bacon and unfortunately and although it is on the menu for another brunch item, they would not do it. Apparently because of how busy it was. I did not understand how switching from peameal bacon to regular bacon, could be a problem but it seems that it was. Again, it is a very small thing and I thought it would have been easy to do. Overall great place. We are regulars either for a drink, a snack or a meal. Thank you. Céline.

We adore Sassafraz, especially having a few rounds of French 75s and enjoying the new Lobster Salad. We love to gather with pals on the patio in summer and cafe bar in cooler weather but this time it was so packed outside we sat inside.

Fantastic service and excellent food. We got oysters and burgers. The food was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful. We sat by the indoor waterfall. We highly recommend it.
