Food was delicious, service was awesome, highly recommend Sassafraz!
This restaurant has in the past been one of our favourites. However, we were all hoarse trying to Two portions were highly salted (i.e., soup, noodles) - I guess salt was necessary for flavor? Not sure if we will return. The service was excellent.
Our party of four went to Sassafraz for Summerlicious. There was lots to choose from on the menu. I had the Caesar salad with crispy Romaine lettuce, thin shavings of Parmesan and anchovies. The entree was Salmon with soba noodles. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the serving of soba noodles just the right amount in a tasty Ponzu dressing. For dessert I chose the flourless chocolate cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A perfect meal. My companions had the burgers, which they found very filling and the cheese tray for dessert. Our fourth diner had the Heirloom tomatoes with white beans, the chicken breast and the strawberry Panna Cotta. We each had a Fuzzy Peach drink. Outstanding value for the quality of the meal! Service was also very good. Definitely would recommend Sassafraz!
We had a wonderful summerlicious lunch here. The service was great, very attentive even though it was busy, the food was excellent, wine pairing suggestion was also on point. We sat inside at the back by the waterwall and it was gorgeous with the tall skylight ceilings. Americano coffee was way too bitter for me, but they got me something else, so really, I have zero to complain about. Will be back, have already recommended it twice.
The summerlicious was pretty forgettable (Agnolotti was cold and tasted like it came out of the freezer) but the service and ambiance was great. The dessert course was very good.
Excellent scenery and service! We had a great time!
Chose the prix fixed menu. Salad? Okay. Didn’t much like my pasta dish, but my friend’s hamburger looked good. Didn’t realize the peas would be mushed in a quite revolting sauce. The stuffed pasta was otherwise quite good.
Dessert (the panna cotta) was tasteless and didn’t wobble like it should. Server was good.
I ordered the pork chop on the Summerlicious menu and the meat was tough. I am disappointed in this and want to know how Sassafraz can rectify this negative customer experience for me.
Went to Sassafraz for the first time for Summerlicious lunch. The ambiance is lovely for lunch, with sun streaming in the covered garden section with waterfall. The food and service could not be faulted ... everything was delicious. At Sunmerlicious prices, this is a real bargain.
Brilliant, as always. This time, Summerlicious with some US colleagues and impressed they were. Top service, fantastic plates. Reliable and steady kitchen, one of our favourites.
We went for the summerlicious menu which was delicious. We sat near the waterfall under the sun roof - it was beautiful! All the food was delicious and was served in a timely spaced manner. We definitely left the restaurant feeling full. The hostess, the waiter, the bus boy - everyone was so friendly and helpful throughout our time at the restaurant.
We had a wonderful dinner at Sassafraz with their summerlicious menu. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress Laurel was attentive an very professional. The restaurant has a very nice regular menu as well, and we enjoyed several lovely dinner there. We highly recommend!
We enjoyed our evening. The waitress we had was one of the best we have ever had! She made the meal fun and enjoyable. It was summerlicious which sometimes means get in and out as quickly as possible. We did not feel rushed and the restaurant had more choices than most for this type of meal.
Highly recommended- great food, great service, great atmosphere!
The decor and service was great. The restaurant was accommodating with our toddlers. Food was underwhelming.
Food was excellent - great choices and special wine was good!
My partner and I enjoyed a meal at this establishment a couple of nights ago. The ricotta agnolotti with lemon, asparagus and peas was outstanding as were the other samplings we enjoyed. The dessert of strawberry panna cotta was a bit bland, but to be fair, panna cotta tends to be a bit bland at the best of times. I would certainly go back especially if spending time in the Yorkville area.
Amazing as always
Great food great service lovely ambiance
We dined for Summerlicious, and had a wonderful experience! We didn’t feel that the restaurant gave smaller than usual portions, as many other restaurants do. We had the ceviche and ribs as an appetizer, the steak for the main, and the chocolate bar and Pannacota for dessert. All were delicious. Service was great too, as was the ambience. We will be back!
The restaurant ambience is welcoming and lively. The Summerlicious menu was tasty and contained a very good selection of food. The beef short ribs appetizer was tasty along with the Halibut entrée. Dessert was the decadent chocolate bar. Overall, it was a great experience and would recommend Sassafraz as a place to dine in Yorkville!!!!
The salmon was overcooked and dry. The soba noodles were in a soy sauce that was too salty and heavy which clashed with the rest of the dish. A lighter shoyu sauce would've been a better choice for the soba.
I always enjoy my experience at Sassafraz and that is why I keep on going back.
Meal was delicious, waiter so nice and service great!
We went for "Summerlicious" lunch, so the price was reasonable and we the value for money was good. The service was great, the food was ok, some dishes were excellent but some not very good.
Sassafraz was a fine dining restaurant. The service was impeccable, the food was presentable and delicious.
We did not have a great experience. The service was terrible - we were there for over an hour before someone took our order. I had to go up to the bar to get the drinks we ordered myself. I mentioned to the hostess that we had been waiting an hour to order and she said she would speak to her manager and send him over but he never came to speak with us. Not impressive on any level.
We had brunch there and it was awesome. Great service and delicious food.
Great food and ambiance. The servers were friendly and attentive. Great place!
Lovely space (we sat near the rear atrium) and good food. The service was friendly but haphazard, however. The server seemed distracted, forgot to bring us promised bread (had to ask a bus person) and the food arrived with incorrect sides. Also the wine glass had a small chip in the rim.
All was corrected quickly, but still, we felt like we were working too hard at making this a good experience.
Great restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. Nice corner location in Yorkville.
As always, Sassafraz was fantastic from moment I walked in until I left. Top-notch service, food and atmosphere. Looking forward to next visit already.
It was a significant birthday celebration, and everything was perfect. Food, service ( conducted with much-appreciated humour). Warmly recommended!!!
The ambiance was good. Our server was very helpful and accommodating. The food was excellent was but I found the portion was a bit small for the value.
I have a very serious food allergy to many items present in a restaurant kitchen. In advance of going, I speak with the chef and send my allergy list. We then talk about a possible menu that the chef feels he/she could accommodate me comfortably. Chef Geoff at Sassafraz is a great listener and has always worked with me to design a safe and delicious menu. The ambience is elegant and gorgeous, waterfalls and greenery galore, lotsa space between tables & a peaceful atmosphere. Our server was Bettina who was outstanding....a warm smile always. Service is impeccable and there's many menu choices. This is a fine retaurant. I have been many times and will return again.
I requested a table in front and was immediately moved, our waitress Bettina was awesome and made us feel special . Great bottle of wine and very good fries, I wish good restaurants could cook a burger medium rare, my only complaint was the burger was dry, and I didn’t order a bun with it to avoid the extra calories ,so the dryness was amplified. My sisters grilled cheese and my wife’s soup and salad were excellent.
The food was generally very good, except the pasta was so over spiced it was not edible.
What left a poor impression was that no one even asked if everything was good during the meal or when they picked up a main that was less than half eaten.
I expected better service and an attention to such details.
Great ambiance, great service! Our weekend brunch was amazing.
Look at this brunch!!! What you can’t see are the different mimosas. Highly recommend.
Ate dinner here with my girlfriend on a weekend visit to Toronto. The cocktails were amazing. We had the northern fashioned (a maple-rosemary flavored old fashioned) and the raspberry margarita. The cheese/meat board combo was a very tasty app, the burger was very good but cooked a touch more done than I normally like. I loved the onion jam on the burger. The chicken dish we ordered was ok, the chicken was cooked nicely and tasted great but neither of us loved the sauce it was served with. We both loved the ambiance with a beautiful wall of tropical plants including orchids behind us. Lovely neighborhood too, with plenty of other restaurants, shops, bars and cafes within walking distance.
The food was excellent. Our waiter, Austin, was extremely helpful in selecting the wine. He has a great attitude and added much to the ambiance.
