Just not as good. Something off with food, just not as amazing! I used to consider them a five star, but this week they were 3. Blue Ginko in BH is better right niw

After driving down main street over the years, decided to choose this restaurant as one to dine with a good friend. She, along with the food, proved to be great company, and along with the choice of fish, poultry, and greenery, and a smooth, cold Sake, served in a curved, iced, carafe, was an evening to remember. I'll definitely return for another visit!

This is a great restaurant which my wife found. We have visited on many occasions and and we have never been disappointment. I hope they continue with the great food and not turn into a bar.

We've been here several times and really enjoyed ourselves.

Lots of small, interesting dishes to choose from - something for everybody. Even the dishes that weren't my cup of tea were handled very well. Ambience is ok - kind've an upscale bar atmosphere.

Only con is it's a bit overpriced, but quality is better than much of what I've found in Walnut Creek.

Way overpriced for too little food. We were sat at a table with a broken bench seat. Waiter had to asked three times to bring us a side dish. She kept forgetting our rice, so we couldn't start eating. When we asked another waiter for help, he was very reluctant. The tea pot was missing the tea, so we only got hot water. All staff were very friendly, but it didn't make up for the disappointing experience. The restaurant was nice.

Delicious! Met friends for dinner. We ordered from the Tuesday specials menu - calamari and kale salad, Sasa special sushi . . . Reasonably priced and high quality. Staff was attentive and made perfect wine suggestions.

We were at Sasa celebrating a birthday. There was 5 of us. The wine was fabulous and the food even better. The service was very good. At first we were waiting for just a bit but once we met our server, everything was timely and very good. Can't wait to go back!

Place was packed so reservations are a must. Any dress is acceptable. The good is top shelf and the service was pretty good. Atmosphere is totally open, not a quiet romantic dinner place. More open, family style or groups. Couples are fine, just not private and cozy.

We had another good trip to Sasa. Sushi and sashimi were very fresh, service was good, got a bit noisy as the evening wore on....but overall, still the place to go in the Walnut Creek/Danville area for great sushi.

We have been coming to Sasa a lot since it opened! We love the ambience here and the unusual, yet scrumptious, tapas style dishes. When I found out my sister had not yet been here, I knew Sasa was the perfect place we would bring her for a special birthday celebration! P.S. My sister loved that a special menu was printed with her name on it and Happy Birthday greeting

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. They gave him a special menu with a happy birthday note in the header. They also gave him a birthday dessert which was really nice. I felt those small gestures really made the dinner sepecial. He and I were both really pleased.

Elegant ambiance, great service, and delicious, beautiful food that's loads of fun to pick, choose, and share from the large and exciting menu. Great drinks: our cucumber gimlets were off the hook. Food Highlights: Duck confit on steamed buns (crisp and absolutely delicious), wasabi wedge fries with spicy aioli, truly exquisite sashimi (Toro and Shiro Maguro the BEST!), Green Tea Crème Brule for desert. That's just a taste, but everything was inventive, tasty, and gorgeously plated. We had a wonderfully lively and enjoyable dinner. Highly recommended....And to those who don't know, Sasa's owner Phillip Yang also has a little gem of a sushi place in Lafayette called Blue Ginkgo. My favorite place!

We've been going to Sasa regularly since it opened and I'm happy to say that our most recent dinner there lived up to expectations and past experience. Three of our group of 5 enjoyed an amazing array of maki rolls on the Monday special priced list, while other two had cooked food, exquisitely done as always. The wait staff are experts on the menu and recommend specials with great care and detail. They are professional, fun to be around and together with the always helpful managers, make the Sasa dining experience memorable.

I had dined there a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the food and service. Went for a second time this week and was informed they had just changed thier menu that night. The selections on the new menu were even better than before and our entire group had a difficult time picking out what we were going to eat. Everything we had was fresh, the Roasted Asian squash dumplings were delicious - my favorite so far. We tried the shrimp and corn fritters and those were a big hit as well.

We got there around 5:45 and it wasn't crowded, but by the time we left at 8 the place was packed. Definately not a place if you want a nice quiet conversation, but if you're looking for GREAT food and excellent service it's the place to go.

We have been to Sasa many times. Love the food and the service is usually very good. But this time our waiter seemed more interested in the table of cute girls then waiting on us. He was fully distracted the entire time and we had to remind him for things many times. The food was still very good. Hope to get a different waiter next time.

Sasa is a cut above when it comes to sushi and related food. The restaurant has a nice vibe, lively but not loud, youthful but not a party. But the star is the food. We had the Omakase platter and split it....as usual perfect. By far, the highest quality restaurant in Walnut Creek. Cooked food is also excellent, but go for the sushi, sashimi and rolls.

Sasa has managed to continually produce fresh, inspired, quality food. The portions may not be huge, but they are just enough to keep you filling the table with more and more plates of amazing food. Fresh, local and imaginatively created dishes that change constantly make for different dining experiences. Pleasant, professional service is a plus - they know their menu and you will benefit from their knowledge if you have questions or need suggestions.
Do not overlook dessert.

The food was (eventually) amazing but I had to send back both my appetizer and my entree I ordered. I specifically ordered off the GF menu and spoke with my waitress about my allergy and I was served 2 dishes that were clearly not gluten free. Our supposed GF appetizer had a brown ponzu looking sauce all over it so, just to be safe, I asked the food runner that it was GF and he looked confused and said no. They brought out a GF version pretty fast. My sushi roll was served on the same plate as the person I was dining with (perfectly normal for a sushi restaurant), but not okay when there is sauce I am allergic to all over the other persons roll/on my plate. So I sent it back and asked for a separate roll. Very friendly staff overall.

We were so pleased with our choice to celebrate our anniversary here. Our waitress was attentive and helpful with making recommendations for various dishes to try. The food (we mainly ordered small plate items, although they have an extensive sushi menu) was great! I'd recommend the pork belly and the fig-Brie dishes for sure. We were treated to complimentary glasses of bubbly, as well. Fun place with tons of unique dishes to try, energetic with a cool and/or romantic ambiance. We'd for sure eat here again!

My husband and I wanted to take our dear friend and her spouse out for a special dinner for her birthday. We absolutely loved Sasa. The ambiance was lovely. Although we loved the inside, we chose to sit outside because it was such a beautiful evening. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The menu is extensive and they, on this particular day, had some incredible specials in addition to their fabulous food on the menu. We ordered a lot of different plates so we could share and none of us was disappointed. We love good food and enjoy going out to eat in addition to cooking at home. Sasa was a real treat and we can't wait to go back.
