Sarpa Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We’ve been to this restaurant a few times in the past and really enjoyed our stay , however this time the quality of food was not really what the price dictated $$$premium . Server and hostess tried everything possible to make experience enjoyable - 5 stars for them.
The restaurant was cold and uncomfortable. For the price, you would expect table linens on the tables. Tables were jammed in and crowded. The service was not timely or attentive. The food was mediocre at best and the vegetables were awful. The wine menu is poor with very little selection. The main courses included next to nothing with them. Overall, dinner was a big disappointment!
I visited Sarpa with a friend on Saturday, January 20th. We both ordered the spaghetti vegano and both agreed that the meal was very bland with little flavour. Very disappointed. The waitress was good enough but we felt that we were rushed and had very little personal connection. I understand that the restaurant can get busy but it is important to maintain a level of personalized service . It is not a fast food drive through restaurant. A meal that was not creative enough and lacking in any flavour was over priced. Vegan/vegetarian meals can be creative and very delicious!
Finally, one would think that a restaurant would offer a red and white house wine. We were told there was only red to choose from. Also, only one copy of the dessert menu was offered to share. I think two would have been more appropriate.
We made our reservation online and it was confirmed back to us, but they couldn’t find it when we arrived. We arrived 4 people instead of 2 but they were very accommodating. The food was excellent and the ambiance was great. It is a bit pricey so we would likely keep it for special occasions. Very nice place to dine.
We arrived for our reservation and were told to wait. There really is no place to wait unless you sit on those ridiculous high chairs. So we wanted to wait at the bar. That couldn’t happen because of a private function.
The service was very poor. Again sat down and waiting again for someone to take our drink order. Finally she shows up and explains nothing about the specials just would we like water. The menu was nice but the service was uneventful and the lacked knowledge.
The food was great, interesting choices and the service was absolutely outstanding - they were able to accomodate us with oysters. The overall ambience is a bit noisy and they did not have any music playing initially so we could hear everyone's conversations.
A reservation for lunch wasn't necessary but still a good idea. Tee restaurant was smaller than expected but the Romaine Salad and Chicken was the best I have tasted. My wife enjoyed the fish and soup feature of the day. Unlike the other reviews the portions were a great size and we didn't need desert. IT was more money than I expected but the food, staff and ambiance were good. Not a place we could afford to go to regularly. We will save it for a repeat visit for a special occasion.
We were disappointed in the fact that we were celebrating a birthday, once we finished eating we were asked to leave as there were 20 other customers waiting for tables. So we felt we were rushed. We spent over $500 for 4 people and being rushed out of a restaurant like that is very rude. We will not return as this is not the 1st time this has happened. Which is why it took us a while to return, but obviously this service hasn't changed. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs throughout the meal, it wasn't her that asked us to leave.
Nice restaurant. Very overpriced. have eaten in fine dinning restaurants that had a little more substance to your meal. It was dinner not lunch. 6 people to share finger length bread. Seriously there should have been two plates. For the price you pay for dinner you couldn't afford another plate of bread...
It is a very nice place we sat in corner to close to other tables. Four people were seated next to us after us. Even though our order was taken first they got their dinners first, table cleaned off first , serviced first all evening long. not sure why that happened. but I still left them a very good tip!!
As usual, a very enjoyable evening at Sarpa. We shared the charcuterie plates - great selection of delicious items. I had my fave grilled lamb chops lamb with the amazing cannellini beans. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Sarpa is by far my favourite restaurant in the Newmarket/Aurora/Oak Ridges are.
