Sarpa Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were immediately seated upon arrival so I was initially impressed. Unfortunately the table they tried to seat us at seemed to be oddly positioned, almost felt like we would be sitting in an aisle. We had the choice to wait for another table and did so. About 15 mins later we were seated by the window. Nicer table, but a little cold ( close to the entrance) but they did have a portable heater near by so they were obviously making efforts to rectify the obvious issues. Our server was amazing. Friendly, attentive and on the ball. Apps were great! Pollenta fries... Mmmmm. And we all enjoyed our main courses. Striploin steak was amazing and I had the vegan sheppards pie. Pretty good. Friends enjoyed the seafood too. Great cappuccino and nice evening overall ;)
Good food great service. From the time we arrived we were warmly greeted and escorted to our seats and it continued to improve from there. The wine list is varied with good choices and recommendations at hand great food presentation. The rissoto ..flavorful.
Very consistent restaurant and always enjoy our dining experience at Sarpa. It's a little on the pricey side so mostly go for special occasions. Was a little disappointed with the table that was reserved for us (maybe because it was reserved through Opentable?). The restaurant was empty and we were given the table closest to the door and foot traffic. Asked to move and they accommodated right away.
I have been to Sarpa about ten times and this last visit was perfect as always. The service was exemplary and the food excellent. My pasta dish was too al dente, and the waitress had no hesitation offering to replace it.
All in all, it was yet another fine dining experience at one of our faves!
We had the Bufalo mozzarella with mint infused watermelon and heirloom tomatoes- amazing ! We both had the halibut which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. They wrote Happy Annniversary in chocolate around our desert- nice touch. Great wine, friendly service.
I had never been to Sarpa and was taking my brother and sister-in-law for an anniversary dinner so we picked Sarpa based on its Terra pedigree. I did not find that it lived up to its billing.
Service was fine - no complaints there at all. Food was OK but not spectacular. We were disappointed that the online menu and the onsite menu were not the same - there were far fewer items on the real menu than we anticipated. We asked why the difference and were told by the server that Terra controls the website and they have no control over what is on it. OK, fair enough but I did not find that the selection on the menu was all that diversified. I ended up ordering a pasta dish which I almost NEVER do (I love pasta but I can do that at home!) because the dishes I had wanted were not actually available and what was available just did not interest me that much. Pretty pedestrian in my view. In fairness the pasta dish I had (mezza rigatoni) was very good. My wife had a branzino special and it was excellent. However my brother said his veal parmigiana was tough and he did not enjoy it.
As for ambiance I found it average at best. We had a table near the back against a wall (fine) but the two tables that were flanking it on either side were very close. It was awkward when the other party was almost as close to me as my companion on the diagonal of our own table.
Overall the experience was OK, but I would not be rushing back there any time soon at those prices. The restaurant is on par with dozens of Italian eateries but purports to be a more 'premium' experience. I did not find either the food or the surroundings to be commensurate with the price.
This was my second time here and it was nothing like the first. The air conditioning was set at too low a temperature (as it was much cooler outside that evening) and it was freezing in the restaurant which made it very uncomfortable. The noise level was completely different in this section of the restaurant. The food seemed not as tasty as the first time. Don't know if it was because of expectations or if it was just rather bland. Too pricey for what I got.
Food was fantastic. Enjoyed the appetizer, main course and dessert tremendously. We had the charcuterie board, gnocchi and veal Parmesan and the chocolate torte for dessert. Cozy ambience which was perfect for our anniversary dinner. Server was attentive and knowledgable. Will return again in the future.
My husband and I met friends for a lovely dinner on the patio. The server quickly recognized we hadn't seen each other for a while and had a lot of catching up to do, so she was really good about giving us all the time we needed to read the menu and have a leisurely dinner. Our friends didn't seen an appetizer they really like which used to be on the menu but the chef made some orders for us and so glad; the shrimp diablo was delicious! We all enjoyed our meals and wine, and finished with very good tiramisu and coffee. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable Friday evening on the patio with good friends, and we will definitely be back.
I booked online for my wife's birthday. When we got there, we had no issues waiting to be seated and the service was great. The food was worth the price; it looked and tasted delicious. I had the veal chop and my wife the spaghetti with shrimp. We were both impressed.
If you're a fan of creme brûlée, you're going to have to try their Nutella espresso creme brûlée; was great!
The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because my wife was really looking forward to getting the zuppa di pesche which was showing on the online menu, but the actual menu was updated when we. Got there.
Otherwise I would definitely go back again and recommend this restaurant to others.
This was my 7th or 8th time dining at Sarpa and that alone should indicate that I've always enjoyed my times there! The food and the service are always great. Althought most dishes are on the pricey side, I would assume that people check menues and prices online before booking finer restaurants. No complaints from me and I'll certainly be returning for 9th, 10th and 11th visits.
Too expensive for strip mall and definitely outside the GTA - wine and food were high for a lunch. Didn't have a lunch menu. Service was slow and inattentive. Stood at eh door for 5 minutes before someone came and again we asked for wine and it was slow getting service. The staff seemed inexperienced for what was trying to be a high class restaurant. The food was good.
