Sarento's on the Beach Ratings and Reviews
After hearing about the views at Sarento’s, I thought it would be worth a visit. We arrived on time (5pm) but there was some loud guests trying to find a table that delayed us from being seated.
When we took our seats, the views from the table were amazing. Our server came to the table to explain that Sarento’s menu is a blend on Italian and Greek cuisine, which was somewhat of a stretch. Candidly, neither the appetizers nor the salad selection looked interesting so we went directly to the mains.
For our main courses, we ordered the Island Snapper and the Mixed Seafood Grill. The Snapper has good flavor but the reliance on olives was unnecessary. I did like the clams. The Seafood Grill was disappointing - an over abundance of salt overpowered the shellfish, with the scallops being both chewy and gritty.
For us, expectations and hype far exceeded the realities of our visit - the noise level at 6pm was higher than expected, as the open dining room layout is really for patrons to enjoy the open ocean view.
Based upon our experience, I was disappointed and wouldn’t recommend Sarento’s
We go here often. We had a special occasion this time which the staff delivered on. Service was friendly and on point. Head waiter from Michigan was nice and made sure all was taken care of.
Atmosphere on breach can't be beaten. Try to go about 45 minutes before sunset. Cocktails were fine. Wine list is impressive and quite good. Sadly, we found the food to be lacking on this visit. Two out of our party of seven thought the food was actually poor. I do remember the food being much better overall then what was served on this night. We will try it again of course, but we are now a bit leery about the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen. Does the view, service make up for meidiocre food at these prices? No. So, politley I ask that they test their quality coming from the kitchen and get back on track.
Amazing beachside table, delicious foods and impeccable service; such a special way to celebrate a birthday dinner. We highly recommend Sarento’s to all our friends that will be coming to Maui over the Christmas and winter months.
Thank you for a wonderful and memorable evening!
It was our wedding night. Hair in the appy, they got us another but didn’t take it off the bill which is standard procedure. Made an error on the final bill charging us for a round of drinks our friends called in and paid for. Food was good not great (for the prices they charge). Nice view but wouldn’t go back.
We had a great table next to the beach, which was a good start. Service of the food was quite slow but they served us bread a couple of times. The mixed grill we both ordered was ok but not great as the shrimp was over cooked but the rest of the seafood was good.We ordered a second drink but we never got it. We will give it another try but I won't rush back.
If your looking for fine dining this is not the place the prices are outrageous but the food is just ok. My husband and I ordered each a glass of wine and each an entree no apps and no dessert and it cost $144.00 before tip to me that's crazy. This was our first time and certainly our last.
We had a very enjoyable lunch, and on leaving the server mentioned that the dinner menu was very popular... and that for small corkage fee we could bring our own bottle of wine... A NICE SUGGESTION!
I booked for dinner and brought a nice bottle of wine, "the manager" who was at our table in flash.. and took great pleasure in letting us know that the corkage was $40.00. What a welcome !!!
Their was wine was soooo over priced.. I paid the $40.00 and even included it in the tip%.
Food was great and the staff were very attentive. .
Manager needs to let his employees know that a small corkage fee is $$$$40.00.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here! It had a lovely quiet ambiance and was right next to the beach. The food was fantastic! The mixed seafood risotto was wonderful - we even took home leftovers and had it with our eggs in the morning! Service was wonderfully attentive! We will be back next time we are in Maui!
After reading so many glowing reviews, we had been looking forward to our dinner here. The ocean breezes were delightful, but we thought the food was very poor. The cocktails were uninspiring. The Osso bucco potstickers has a minuscule amount of tasteless filling. I had the snapper en nage. I expected a nice piece of local fish over a small amount of broth. The dish was a few chunks of fish and some clams in a casserole of soup. My husband’s mahi mahi was prettier, but also quite disappointing. Service was slow.
Folks seem to like this place, but we wanted to submit our honest take.
For comparison’s sake, we loved Monkeypod Kitchen and all of the restaurants at the Andaz.
Celebrating a milestone birthday here. Requested a table along the ocean and they saved the perfect table for us. Wonderful view of the sunset with perfect ambience for a romantic dinner. Food was amazing along with the service. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
One of the best settings for dinner. However the level of service and food presentation are average. The pan roasted island snapper with sausage and clams alentejo was disappointing. I expected a piece of snapper with clams/sausage accompanying it on side with a little sauce on it. It was served in a cast iron pot with a lid more like a Bouillabaisse. Might as well used a cheap white fish than ruin a piece of snapper swimming in sauce. Oh and they ran out of clams so it was a “clam sauce.” Wife had steak with garlic-Parmesan fritte. Steak was excellent. Cook med rare. Parmesan was overwhelming and garlic was lost in the fritte.
Waiter talked extremely fast and hurried like he had too many tables. Bottle of Cade Cabernet was excellent.
We have found plenty of sunset restaurants in our two weeks here. We may or may not try sorento again. Sunset only lasts 20 minutes but the dining experience shouldn’t be anticlimactic.
Have been there several times, but this was decidedly a first class experience worthy of the location. The manager, Jeff, oversaw most of our service. What a trip he was! The epitome of a service attitude. I had th e Acqua Pazza and loved it. We shared profiteroles. Delicious. A great 60th anniversary celebration for our friends.
We came for our anniversary dinner. My wife had the diver’s scallops and tiger shrimp with gnocchi and it was absolutely outstanding. My mixed seafood grill with risotto was also good, but if you’re a fan of gnocchi and scallops, you can’t beat that other dish. Great food, friendly staff, a little pricy but I think you more or less get what you pay for.
Terrible service. Ordered wine. Never came. Had to ask again. Had to ask for menus. Due to poor service, appetizer was to be complimentary. They charged me anyway. They forgot to charge me for the wine. I pointed that out and all the waiter said was “good catch”.
Waited at least 45 minutes before getting any food. Won’t be going back
There are good restaurants on Maui and great restaurants on Maui. Sarento’s is a great restaurant — with impeccable service, great food and all in all a wonderful dining experience — guaranteed – – especially at sunset.
The view in the morning for breakfast or in the evening at sunset is something out of a fantasy movie. Highly recommended!
We wanted to have a romantic, nice dinner out on vacation, our table was seated in a great spot, but the overall service from our server was not satisfactory. Unfortunately he was sat a large party and was unable to continue waiting on us, but didn't communicate that to us or anyone else, as we were left wondering who to get the check from. I ordered the seafood mixed grill, and thought the risotto was overly salty. The martini was however good.
Very over priced but well worth it! Great fresh fish, prepared correctly and served hot! So many restaurants fail on serving food hot. Only glitch was bus boy trying to clear half finished drinks half way thru dinner. Definitely recommend for best $un$et dinner on Maui.
