If you want old-school NYC/Italian, this is the place to go. It is so convenient for a pre-threatre meal. I remember going to Sardi's in the 70's and it hasn't changed a bit except for probably a few more pics of celebs on the wall. The waitstaff is friendly and informative and the prices are reasonable. If you are looking for 'that' kind of place, this is the place to go. Our waiter was Johnny and he has been there for a long time. He was awesome--so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We also asked him about things to do in NYC and he was very helpful!
Pre theater dinner was very good. Chicken parmigiana and Canelloni were delicious. Our female server was friendly and efficient. We were pleasantly surprised with our dinner and experience.
Sardi’s is a wonderful New York institution, a place that offers excellent service and attention to detail. We hadn’t been here in a number of years and wondered whether it had aged well. It did not disappoint, and we’ll return sooner next time.
Still a great pre-theater stop for dinner. Excellent service,
Excellent service and food. Chicken scalloping was perfectly cooked and flavor was excellent. Nice quick dinner before a play.
We stopped by before going to see Hamilton. The ambiance of the inside is amazing for any Broadway fan. Food was phenomenal and service was reliable and quick!
We still love Sardi'd but noticed a change in a few things that used make it just about perfect. there used to be more personnel, and they would come around and offer more bread and look around constantly too see if someone needed something. That ism no longer the case. I wanted a second glass of wine and our waitress was so busy that I never was able to get her attention. This was not her fault. She was just extremely busy. Also, there was no ladies' room attendant. Although the laddie's room was. clean, we noticed the change. This all seemed to be due to an effort to save personnel costs, but it is coming at the expense of a notice;e decline in customer service. With that being said, we still plan to go to Sardi's again at the end of the month after a matinee and to bring a friend.
Great food. Friendly staff - will definitely go back!
Day w my daughter
I have been to Sardis many times. The food is great and it is the perfect place to go pre/post theatre. The chicken parmagiano was delicious. The portion was really large and I do recommend splitting it. It also comes with a side of spaghetti. We did sit for a long time and they never rushed us. I really appreciated that.
I would recommend Sardi’s just to see the caricatures of Broadway actors and other celebrities. The location is very good for plays on 44th st. Nice bar upstairs.
I had ordered the classic Sardi’s Caesar salad , which should have been prepared table side . My server was not attentive . Busboy later offered me dessert menu . So service is erratic .
Great fast service. Nice wine but from a narrow list. Food was good and the setting was vibrant!
The ultimate Pre-theater dining venue. Location, atmosphere, staff just works for this. Canaloni is always excellent. Loved the crab cake as well. Wine selection could be a little more broad.
My aunt’s 70th birthday. Food was excellent and service perfect! Ambience is also very much Broadway in NYC. I hope to be back!
The food and ambiance were wonderful! We will certainly be going back and recommend it to everyone!
Quite pleasant. Accommodating
We have been here before with teenagers that remember the muppets. It is so close to all the theaters. The food is mediocre but the staff was delightful. Cassie was amazing. She gave us all kinds of information about restaurant and really made the night.
We all enjoyed the old fashioned menu items, the generous portions and the moderate noise level. The prices were also moderate compared to other places we have been.
The room is unique with all the famous celebrity drawings. Everyone should eat at Sardi’s at least once!
A classic. Very nice always.
It took several requests to get the check. Wine almost undrinkable.
We went to Sardi’s for the feel of history. What we received was a waitress, Michelle, who was fantastic. Excellent food. We had a corner table and for us romantic.
Appetizer, entrees, deserts, coffee all excellent.
Service also excellent. No rush atmosphere.
Ambiance, it’s Sardis. Enough said.
Great location for dining going to or from a Boradway show. Menu was great with many options. Was able to substitute a different side dish/veggie because I am not a risotto fan. Loved the appetizer for two. Very interesting with lots of options and worth the price. Scallops were delicious, but would've loved having a few more.
enjoyed dining at Sardi's.. The proximately to the theatre was a plus
Before and after the theater this is a great call! Went with my high school daughter and it was perfect for the both of us! One night we were very casual the next night we were dressed up! The service is impeccable the food is wonderful it’s a must for any theater experience! Make sure to leave time to check out the Character drawings on the walls ! We will be back!
I would not recommend Sardi’s for dining, as the food is sub-par & quite pricey. My entree arrived undercooked, vegetables were cold & the risotto tasted like it came out of a can.
A New York experience to be had only once, and unfortunately the history there can’t rescue the current dining.
Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Our food was excellent (salmon and filet mignon, with cake for dessert). We were easily able to make it in time for the show we were going to see because the service was great! Love looking around at all of the pictures at Sardi’s!
Only semi-snarky waiter. We had early reservations due to an early curtain for the off-Broadway show, Fiddler in Yiddish. There was no sense of this fact with our waiter. As a result, we had to run to the theater and got to our seats 4 minutes after curtain. Thank heavens it was nearby. Drink glasses were super small - for a martini and a margarita. Talk about squeezing the patrons at every turn. We did enjoy our meal - we had the cheese tasting plate and scallops. Food was good, it just needed to come out more quickly.
We had such a nice time. We were not rushed. All enjoyed our choices. We’ll definitely come back again.
All good but waiter did not want to split our checks up for separate parties.
A wonderful dinner and a friendly and attentive server. Sardi’s tries hard and delivers. I recommend.
Our dining experience at Sardi’s was everything we thought it would be. Maybe the only part of our New York Trip that topped dinner at Sardi’s was seeing Hamilton.
Really enjoyed everything we ate! It was supper easy to get to your play afterwards!
We had a super server . ... wish I could remember his name . He was very attentive.
Food has been better in the past. Dining Room rug and matching rugs should be replaced.
The water service was excellent. Any time our glasses were less than full he appeared and refilled them. We enjoyed looking at the walls to see who we recognized. The meringue dessert was better than the chocolate cake.
Everything OK! Congratulations!
Always a good spot prior or after theatre. Tasty food and great service.
Dinner before a play across the street
My friend and I both ordered scallops. Scallops were tasteless & risotto was terrible. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay & it was also not good. I asked if they had another choice & was told no with no other solution offered. Waiter was not at all helpful & had to flag him down if I needed anything. Great place to have a drink but don’t bother with the food.
