The crab cakes were the most delicious crab cakes I’ve ever had.
Food was fantastic! We had a very nice table upstairs near the window. Our server was very efficient. She was there whenever we needed anything. I would recommend that you visit Sardis and check out the pictures hanging up on all the walls of famous people. Some have actually been signed by them. Also we had the baked Alaska flambé! It’s was to die for. The presentation was a show in itself. We will definitely be back next time we visit the city.
Great food, service and ambiance. Quiet enough to hear each other at the table. Highly recommend.
Sardis? What can we say? We waited on going here FOREVER and what a disappointment it was. When you enter establishments like this, their name and their brand sometimes carry them. You get a bit of an edge from the hostess to your waiter. It’s almost as if you are bothering them. Simple questions like “Do you have a specialized drink menu?” Are met with answers like “We have a full bar. What do you want?” The food was mediocre. We are fans of steak tartare and have had it prepared differently in different spots, but Sardis is REALLY different. What we think show be smaller cubed/diced meat cam out as a hamburger looking patty. The sardines killed it. We’ve never had sardines in Tartare before and unless you like it A LOT, I would avoid the tartare. The drinks were weak. An Old Fashioned was met with a large Orange wedge and a floating cherry. I thought I was on a cruise ship. And to add insult to injury, while we used Open Table to make and confirm our reservation, they didn’t “check” us instead they cancelled the reservation, forcing us to send a copy of our receipt to OpenTable, proving we were there. Sort of sucked and work on us since it was 100 points at stake. Go if you must, but don’t waste a meal in NYC there. Sit in the bar, have a weak drink and eat somewhere else.
Wonderful food and service! We had a terrific time!
Only negative ....One must climb a full flight of stairs to reach the restrooms. This is not ideal, especially for seniors like us or the handicapped. (We were told we could leave the restaurant in order to access an elevator; this is not a good solution on a 30 degree night.)
My 2nd visit to New York and choose Sardi’s for dinner before our show! So glad we did it was joyful!! Great food, wine, service and atmosphere!
Interesting caricatures on the walls. Very nice atmosphere and we weren't rushed.
A classic NY experience in an iconic setting. Very festive for the holidays. We had excellent service and a very good meal. There is a prix fix menu available- but we had to request, it was not presented along with the regular menu and specials.
Went for lunch before the show. The service is wonderful and good is terrific. My cosmo was perfectly made. We were in and out in an hour as we had 1 pm tickets. Will definitely recommend and will be back. I had the crab BLT on a brioche roll. My mom had chicken parm. A bit pricey but it is nyc. Lunch, 1 drink and dessert was $92.00.
Wonderful New York dining tradition with great food and service. Before or after a show or for just a very fine dining experience, Sardi’s is outstanding.
The service was excellent, very attentive and informative and pleasant. The food was also very good!
Great food (don’t skip the rice pudding!), great service (never felt rushed), and theater atmosphere like nowhere else. On my must-visit list for every trip to NYC!
Worst meal in a long time. And value for money, worst experience in decades. Sardi's has a spectacular location, right in the middle of theater district, which entitles them to charge prices appropriate for a decent restaurant, while serving tasteless food. The one star rankings I gave were way too generous but negative stars weren't available.
As a theater goer, I’ve always wanted to try Sardi’s. I’m glad we went. It was cosy inside, I loved seeing all of the famous caricatures, and it was cutely decorated for Christmas. My friends and I had a great time and the food was good and decently priced. Cons, the bread basket we were served at first was hard as rocks, like, like of my friends cut his mouth on it. We turned it into a funny experience, but warm soft bread would have been nice. The place is also in drastic need of an aesthetic upgrade. It just looks old, worn, and...old. Waiters need new uniforms as well. They need to close for a week to upgrade the interior and lighting, without hurting the class and charm. That’s a big part of my dining experience. Overall, glad we went, but I won’t be rushing back or recommending as a go-to dining spot.
It was a very nice meal as Sardi’s does it.
Very friendly and accommodating staff...loved the celebrity pics...thanks for the birthday treat!😍
The portions were so small. If you are going to charge those prices, at least give a better size portion.
Grabbed a quick bite while doing the “tourist thing” in the city. The French Onion soup was excellent and the portobello sandwich was good too! Good thing we had early reservations because it got crowded quickly!
Very pleasant before Broadway Show experience... would do it again. Perfect service and perfect food... perfect price !!
Great experience, will go back
This is not the Sardi's of my younger years. Definitely a tourist trap. Go find a better meal with better service
Definitely worth the meal...iconic experience
The team at Sardis made our night in the Theater district perfect. The food and service were extraordinary.
Wonderful service and charming waiters with great personalities. Nice to meet the manager as well. Food was great both nights we were there pre theatre.
Sardi's is an outstanding choice for pre or post Broadway or just for a great meal in Manhattan. It's hard to describe the feeling eating there...you just have to experience yourself. The pork chops were amazing and you don't mind spending $15 for a cocktail when it is made so well. And the Irish Coffee...sublime.
Arrived after Radio City Christmas show for 1:00 reservation. Table was ready. Service was professional and attentive. Food came quickly. We remained at our table long after the lunch crowd had cleared and the service staff never made us feel hurried or the need to clear our table. Love everything about this restaurant!
We enjoyed two dining days in December to bring in the Christmas season. Delightful atmosphere and wonderful on point service. Food and drinks were fabulous.
All the food was delicious. Portions were a perfect size. Service was excellent. I liked how the waitress asked us if we had to be finished by a certain time. That way she could pace our meal. It was perfect.
It was our first time and we loved it all around. The ambiance was nice and the service was amazing. Our food was also just incredible. We loved everything and would definitely go again!
Excellent service and great food
One of our all time favorite theater district restaurants. Such a classic NYC experience!
Loved it! I would recommend. Will return next time we return to NYC.
Classic and classy NY restaurant. Great service, food and ambience
It was better than expected
The location of Sardi's is wonderful because it's in the heart of Times Square area and reflects the character one would imagine from decades past. However, the food was mediocre with the exception of the meatballs which were delicious. We were there during the holidays and likely meals were being cranked out for tourists at a frenetic pace. It just didn't feel like there was the attention to detail or anything special put into the food which is what once made Sardi's a landmark. Hopefully the restaurant will return to the focus on the food because all of the bones and character are already in place.
Sardi's is certainly an important reference point. But it has lost some its luster and the whole operation seems a little creaky.
The food is just OK, I was disappointed, and service not all that great - and I was not expecting too much.
Could use an interior update, something to make the celebrity portraits stand out and be noticed.
* Redisplay the celebrity portraits so that you can identify the people, easily.
* Create and sell a guidebook to Sardi's, combining a little history with a key to all the celebrity portraits.
The service was great and it's fun to be in such an historical location before a show. The food is pretty good, but not great. Very expensive for the quality of the food, but the place was packed, so they are probably charging the right prices. I think you are paying for the history, not the food.
