Very nice ambiance and convenient to theatres but wish the menu was broader with some gluten free options.
Sardi’s is one of those places that everyone knows and you should probably go there once. Just know that the quality of the food is nowhere close to what you’re paying for it. There’s much better Italian food to be had around NYC.
I always meet pals at Sardi’s when I am in NYC to see shows. Located perfectly, and a Big Apple Icon. I always make reservations whether for lunch or dinner. Doing so ensures a table even if the “between show” people show up in numbers. It is easy to have a nice conversation and have fun in a zesty historic environment. If those walls could speak! And they have! Caricatures of ages of Broadway greats remind us of the power of theater to change lives and make us better. Thanks, Sardi’s! See you next time!
A pre/post theater staple, Sardis is a place that everyone should visit at least once, but the food is average. Classic staples that have not evolved.
Way over priced and it took us an hour to be served. We ordered salads! The wait staff was fine, but the kitchen was very slow. Might be fine for drinks after the theatre if you really want to say you have been to Sardi's, but basically a tourist trap!
What a treat to eat at Sardi’s after our show.
Sardi’s has been around forever, and rightfully so. It is the classic place for your before-theater dinner, and the even more classic place for the cast to assemble after the opening and wait for the reviews to come in.
But what that doesn’t give you is the full flavor of both the food (which is more than decent, and better than you would expect) or the service (which is truly superb. It is the exact opposite of curmudgeonly old ‘classic’ places like Lindy’s. At Sardi’s everyone on the staff goes out of their way to make you feel special, whether you’re a first time tourist or an old NYC theater hound).
If you are going to a Broadway show, you owe it to yourself to have dinner at Sardi’s.
Nice atmosphere with an old time, classic feel. Delicious food, although a bit pricey. A nice night out, especially for dinner before a show.
Perfect pretheatre dining with kind and highly efficient staff.
Dinner was excellent, and the service was efficient and friendly. I will dine there again.
Sardi’s is becoming our go to for dinner before or after Broadway shows. The ease of a reservation thru Open Table is convenient. The wait is minimal, if any. Food always excellent! Few complaints are: the noise level as it does get crowded, tables are close to one another and a couple of the servers do not understand English well.
Thank you for the opportunity to voice a patron’s opinion.
It was my daughters 14th birthday and she is a broadway theater buff! We dined here before seeing Bettlejuice. Staff helped us to find cariacatures she was looking for. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was upscale without being pretentious. They served a simple sliced of cheesecake with a candle, no fanfare, to celebrate, which was just perfect. Will definitely be back.
If you like getting ripped off, this is your place! We went in for a quick bite and left paying a bill with tip of $78. My wife got a caprese salad and I got a small cheese plate and one glass of wine. This place is nuts. It was very average and very very expensive. Sad!
I love Sardi's--my mom and I have a tradition of eating here before or after any broadway show we see. Always great.
Iconic restaurant but awful food and so not worth the price. Better off having a drink at the bar if you must see this place. Big disappointment!
It's so comforting to be able to go back to Sardi's any time and it is the same classic, classy, non-chain-restaurant whose food is consistently delicious. As NYC becomes more and more impersonal with its endless towers of steel and glass, please don't let Sardi's be "relocated" or "updated". It is excellent just as it is!
Lovely table , food was served to our liking , great location for the Theather
Sardi’s never disappoints. A classic that has kept there quality of food through the rest of time. Order the meat cannelloni!!!! Perfect!
Sardi’s is one of the very last restaurants in New York that is true old New York. When you go there, you’re sitting where Broadway stars have sat and dined since the 1920’s. The menu has become more modern but still has some classic favorites; the service is top-notch. Love it!
We both grew up in suburban New York and Sardis was a legendary restaurant. Occasionally, my wife’s parents would take her and her sister there when going to the theater. We had dinner there because it was directly across from the Schubert Theater where we were to see “To Kill A Mockingbird”.
The meal was excellent and it was fun to look at the caricatures of actors and other personalities. Also given the intense cold and wind on Wednesday, we were glad to be across from the theater.
Great place and great food. Felt rushed by the waiters.
The food is always good here and you can't beat the prices for New York. Love the salmon! It is always perfect!
I guess our reservation was for "an off hour" - 12:45 PM on the Sunday after New Year's - because we pretty much had the place to ourselves. My French toast was wonderful - the bread well-soaked in egg mixture (not just "dipped," as at so many restaurants and diners) and not over-cooked and rubbery. The real maple syrup was delicious and, if anything, the amount provided was overly generous. My friend was happy with her Eggs Benedict. The price for a cup of coffee was prohibitive, so we skipped it. Including coffee - or at least discounting it when ordered with brunch - is the only improvement I would suggest. Or perhaps offering one " pot" of coffee with cups for two at the stated price for one person; I did not think to inquire about that.
Sardi's is just about the best "Go To" restaurant when heading to broadway for a show - it completes the experience - the staff gets you fed and out the door in plenty of time without stress or feeling rushed. The bartenders and wait staff are lovely and friendly. My family and I eat here often and it never gets old.
Service was amazing. Food was very good.
As always, old world service meets new world food creations. The perfect blend making another marvelous experience. Special shout out to our server Cassie....she was great
Awesome time after Broadway Show!! The Cheesecake and Tiramisu was delicious
The servers were rude and they food was not worth the price
In New York for NYE, we had a fabulous meal with immaculate service from the attentive staff. Even amidst the holiday bustle, Sardi’s always shines. Special thanks to Matthew for the portrait tour!
Food quality was good
servers were not friendly or efficient and were unable to help with suggestions
Food was not spaced nicely between courses and meal was rushed
Excellent food and service! So convenient for seeing shows and grabbing a bite to eat!
We've had better Italian food at a mall. This is an overpriced tourist trap in the theater district with comic book sketches of old celebrities on the wall.
The restaurant feels like a step back in time. As you take your seat, you expect to pass tables filled with the TV and movie stars of yesteryears. It was fun looking over the caricatures that adorn the walls of this restaurant and trying to guess who they represent. The wait staff is very attentive without being intrusive and the food was delicious. The Saturday night we were there the restaurant was full but we were seated within 5 minutes of our 7:30 reservation time. My family and I enjoyed our meal at Sardis. We will be back again.
Vacation for Christmas
In a word: fabulous!!! Brought back so many memories. We had an engagement party and our rehearsal dinner here in 1967. Vincent Sardi made it happen!
There are certain dishes I love.
Steak Tartar (if I can split it with someone.
Glazed Salmon special - GREAT
Smoked Salmon appetizer - just needs 2 additional slices of bread and more lemon
I use to LOVE the cannelloni until they started putting mushrooms in it, now I cannot eat it
Cant eat mushrooms - it was beer just meat.
They can get you in and out to theater quickly
Traffic was so bad - we were a few minutes late but we ended up with time to spare
Service and ambience were excellent
Food was good
Cassie was by far the best server...awesome food. Even better service
Enzo best bartender.
