Went to Sardis after seeing a play. The food was good, as was the service. We like going to places with a history and this fit that bill as well!

If you are a regular visitor to New York and you haven't been to Sardi's you are missing a treat! The dining room is festooned with drawings of Broadway stars past and present. The wait staff is experienced and the food is consistently delicious! Don't miss the Caesar salad or the lovely cannelloni with béchamel sauce.

Location first !
Right across the street or on the same block from five Broadway theaters. Could not be easier for lunch or dinner . Portions huge.
Cobb salads were great. Fettechini bolognaise was served hot . Figured I would try something different . It was okay .
I really wanted a sandwich like a turkey BLT, but only came as a crabmeat BLT, but because if the rush, no substitutions. Served breads by a waiter. Tables of six got bread baskets. We were three and didn't .

Nice restaurant to eat at before a Broadway show. Lots of history there - autographed portraits of the celebrities who’ve eaten there adorn all the walls. Service was good, food ok.

Great! Can't wait to come back! Cannelloni Au gratin was amazing as usual. Pork chops thick and juicy. Duck Confit rich and moist with crispy skin. Baked Alaska fun table-side presentation. All of our servers were top notch.

This is where we like to be pre-theater. The caricatures, the excellent service, the fine food and bread choices---all were exactly right

Iconic restaurant for Broadway theater pre and post dining. Character sketches of famous actors and celebrities cover the walls. Conversation, energy fills the room. The French onion soup is flavorful with essence of sweet onions. The clam chowder is plentiful with clams, flavor; not the thick cream new england style. The cannelloni is classic beef and pork crepe in a tasty bechemel sauce. The Caesar salad is classic with oil, romaine, lemon, anchovies and freshly ground black pepper.

Sardi's was everything we could have hoped for and then some - while waiting for our reservation, we had excellent drinks at the bar, and took the opportunity to begin scoping out the celebrity walls - so great - which continued throughout the meal. The food was terrific, although one of our party wasn't happy with her choice. Dessert was a spectacular affair, and while everything was scrumptious, we all agreed that of our choices, the mousse was the yummiest. Our waiter took excellent care of us, and included birthday candles on the birthday girl's dessert, making the event all the more special. Highly recommend visiting Sardi's, but make a reservation - when we went, the wait time was 2 hours - but our table was ready exactly at the appointed time. It was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday, and we can't wait to go back!

Storied but disappointing iconic restaurant. We were in the city for a pleasure trip and couldn’t get into Carmine’s. Sardi’s is famous, but the key words are “used to be.” What a great place it has been, could be. It appears they are dialing it in with service food. We ordered the caprese tomato and mozzarella. The mozzarella was rubbery and the balsamic reduction poor quality. We also had the chicken soup appetizer. The soup was fair and nothing special. We decided not to waste our time or money on the entrees. I am surprised management has allowed such a great place to deteriorate in quality. Ask the locals and they will send you to Carmine’s. Sardi’s could be but chooses not to be the star of the city. If you want proof of this review, just try to book a table at each place and see how much availability there is for each. Better book early for Carmine’s. You can walk in at Sardi’s.

My twin sister and I were there on December 7 to celebrate our birthday. She hadn’t been there and really enjoyed it. We had the pri fix dinner which was very good. We both had the crab cakes which were excellent. She had cheesecake and I the rice pudding for dessert . I had spinach cannelloni and she had tomato/mozzarella salad to start the meal. The waiter heard us tell our table neighbors it was our birthday. He had a candle put on our desserts. Nice touch. Since it was a Thursday, everyone had already gone to the evening performances so the restaurant was relatively quiet. I have been to sardi’s Several times and it’s always a treat.

A fun tradition! Can’t rave about the food but a great place for a pre- theater dinner - Tom Hanks sat two tables over from us - you never know who you’ll see here.

I have been coming here since I was a teenager usually before seeing a play or show. In those 40 years Sardi's only gets better reflecting the old school charm of theatre traditions. The food has gotten MUCH better in the last several years, too. (Sardi's used to be a place to meet for drinks not really known for its food. Now it is both!) The Maitre'd we met the other night was gracious and welcoming. The staff is old school professional. Keep up the great work!

The ambiance was incredible. I felt as if we had gone back to a different era. I ordered the tartar, which was delicious. It is a wonderful place to go before a Broadway show. The service was exceptional, and yes it is a tourist destination, but I would highly recommend this NYC experience.

Ate there before "Hello Dolly" which is across the street. Shared a chopped salad and both of us had soup beforehand.
The food was good. The service was fairly good. The noise level is high, but we could certainly hear each other. The upstairs bathroom is nice. I've been there before and will certainly go back.

Had dinner at Sardi’s before the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular, we had a person with dietary restrictions the wait staff and kitchen were extremely accommodating, and made sure they could serve her with all the restrictions she has: so appreciated! Food was delicious. We had a wonderful dining experience and the next time we are in the city, this restaurant will be a must!

Lunch was good but very pricey. I know we were in NYC in Times Square but it did seem excessive given the portions were very small. Martini's were $16.50 each (we only had one each). Appetizers were $18. Lunch for two (before going to see the musical BEAUTIFUL)was $121 plus gratuity . Service was very good.
The restaurant is a tourist magnet. I'm glad (for the experience) that we went but not sure we would return.
