Sardine Factory Ratings and Reviews
A great evenin! Service was impeccable, food selections outstanding. The sommelier was expert and accommodating resulting in excellent selections.
Completely blown away... the steak was phenomenal.. the service was impeccable.. the ambience was amazing and to meet the proprietor was simply a pleasant encounter. I'm certainly looking forward to coming back to the sardine factory. Oh by the way our server named Aaron made it an amazing experience.
We went to the Sardine Factory to celebrate my mother's 80th Birthday. The hosts welcomed us by wishing my mom a happy birthday and then proceeded to tell us that they had a special table reserved for such an occasion. We sat in an atrium that was so beautiful it took our breath away. We were treated like Queens for the evening by the wait staff. It was a magical evening with the best food and conversation. It was an evening that we will never forget. Thank you for helping us make the best birthday memory for my mother!!!!
Having seen Rick Stein’s visit to this restaurant on BBC TV we were expecting a treat but unfortunately it fell short of our expectations . A disinterested , offhand waiter didn’t start proceedings off well . Food was OK but I have to say we dined better at some of Monterey’s less famous eateries . Disappointing but probably it was just one of those unfortunate nights . Wine waiter was cheerful & friendly .
Had their Valentines Day dinner. Shrimp, for the shrimp cocktail, was a little over cooked. Wonderful Cream of Asparagus soup. Not thickened with too much starch. Good flavor. Great beef filet. A real quality value.
Sardine Factory is still a Monterey classic.
I took my wife for Valentine’s Day and there special menu. Service was slow and very poor.
My wife’s salmon dish was served cold. Warm to the touch cold on the inside. Wa sent it back. No apologies from management or the chef himself. Felt like we were rushed in and rushed out. When we asked server what was the sauce for the salmon special that evening he did not now. It was written right on the menu. It was obvious he had not even read the menu that they were serving that evening. Extremely poor preparation.
He stood there and read off the menu what type of sauce what is being served that evening with the salmon. My wife and I looked in each other and thought to ourselves you’ve got to be kidding me. Certainly not what you would not expect at this restaurant. We will chalk this up to maybe him being a new server or lack of preparation on your management team to train people prior to serving clients. Definitely will not recommend to friends or clients.
This was the first time my wife and I have ever been here and I must say it was amazing. The decor was beyond amazing and the food was cooked to perfection, we will be back for sure many more times.
We had a reservation & I requested the atrium, where they sat us. Food was excellent! Yummy bread was brought out first. We had the abalone bisque & that was delicious! I had the diver scallops, so tender & cooked to perfection! My husband had the veal & lobster tail. That was delicious as well. I had the late harvest Riesling wine. Oh my goodness, absolutely delicious!! I love late harvest wine! Great dinner! Will definitely go again.
Everything was great! We arrived about twenty minutes earlier then our reservation, we were greeted in a very friendly manner, we felt very welcome and were seated right away. The meal and wine selections were wonderful! We enjoyed our evening, our second visit and we will certainly return. Thank you so much!
We have been to the Sardine Factory many many times over the years and was always a favorite, but hadn’t been in quite some time. On a recent trip to Monterey, we looked forward to dining there again and met old friends who also loved the restaurant. Sitting in the Atrium didn’t disappoint and our server was great, however the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the linguine with clams and it was dry and flavorless. The salad was horrible and fishy tasting. One person had the special sword fish and loved it, but the other had the bone in rib eye and he said it was horrible. To make things worse, the wine steward had an attitude and wasn’t helpful at all. Totally different experience from the past. We won’t be back.
Food was excellent, along with the service. There were a lot of tourists in casual clothes which was disappointing to us as we had dressed nice for a special occasion.
We go to Monterey each year for our anniversary and we eat at Sardine Factory. Always a nice meal and good service in a pretty restaurant. (Since our wedding in Monterey 40 years ago). This time, however, not so much. The service was marginal, the food was simply not good and the value for what ordered was very bad. I ordered the special. A small filet with a jumbo shrimp. The steak was over cooked and of poor quality. The shrimp was ok, but no big deal. Then the bill revealed a $56 price tag for the steak and shrimp. Ridiculous price for a marginal entree. Not so sure next year we will make the effort or spend the money to go to the restaurant again. Can get better food for less money in restaurants all over Monterey and Carmel.
this was one of the nicest dining experiences we have had. We chatted with the owner and everyone was exceptional. The food and wine were top notch. We will try to come back often.
Our servers, Felix and a gentleman whose name I regretfully cannot recall, went above and beyond. Their service made for a wonderful date night at a restaurant my husband has been dying to take me to for years. The food was good, and while spendy, it did not lack in quantity or quality. If I’m ever in Monterey again I’m sure we will be back.
This was honestly the best meal I’ve had in years. Everything was perfect.
We had the prix fixe menu, offered between 5 and 6 pm. Wonderful selection. Great food and service. Beautiful restaurant.
This is one of my favorite “go to” places when in Monterey and it did not disappoint. From the reception to appetizers to main course everything was impeccable. Had the seafood special this night - Corbina sea bass over a bed of risotto absolutely delicious paired with a terrific Chardonnay. Nothing better
Five of us from the Midwest had a fabulous dinner at Sardine Factory. The service was efficient and professional, but very welcoming. The food was so flavorful and attractive that we plan to return again at the end of the week - the only restaurant in the area where we chose to visit a second time.
Try to eat here every time we are in Monterey NO better place to eat and staff and Food is always amazing
Food was fantastic. The only thing we did not like was the Wine Steward was not to friendly
The Sardine Factory always delights! The food is superb and the wine list extensive and fairly priced. My husband enjoyed talking about wines with the sommelier. The Servers are professional and very helpful.
We always spend a pleasant evening in the Captain's Room -- less noise and more personable service. The seafood courses are always fresh and well prepared. The wine list is extensive, and the desserts are always wonderful
