Beautiful room the service was slow and the food was good but not good enough for the price!
Fanstastic food but most importantly fantastic service
It was our Anniversary. We had ex
The place has tradition ambience. Maybe it was trying to give you a relaxed atmosphere and allow you to spend time leisurely we didn't get our bread and water at least 15 minutes after sitting down then after another ten minutes to get the menu. But the food was good. Because our reservation was at 7:00pm and was in the atrium, we can see the light from outside going from bright to dark and lighting was replaced by the inside light. The atmosphere is good. Too bad I don't drink, therefore I could not touch their wine offerings. Overall was good.
Great Anniversary Dinner, great service and the food was amazing!!
I could give this place a minus 20, I would. We are locals and decided to come back after many years. We wish we hadn't This experience was beyond bad on a every level. First, the service was awful--because they had two servers for the entire dome area where is where we were. More importantly, the kitchen was backed up and the bar was backed up. Our server did her best. But, to make up for it, she gave us free chowder. We turned it down because we were so disgusted. AND SHE GAVE IT TO THE NEXT TABLE. Really?? My appetizer was mediocre, but that could have been a matter of taste. However, my main course--Calimari steak- was so salty and disgusting-- and it was recommended by our server as one of the very best dishes. If this is the best, the worst must make you gag. If you want to come to this restaurant because of the Clint Eastwood movie, just order a drink and hamburger and have very, very LOW expectations.
After 30 years, still an outstanding experience. Highly recommended.
Great dining experience. Would highly recommend!!!
Probably the worst Caesar salad I’ve ever had. It was $14.00 and made up of all the yellow innards of the head of lettuce. No outside green leaves. You know, those spiny yellow ones you wouldn’t give your rabbit? I had an Italian pasta dish that was $30.00 that should have been $15.00? Our server didn’t make contact with us near enough times. I’ve been there before. Won’t go back..
When we arrived for 5:30 reservations we had to wait 10 minutes for our table. Took at least 10 more minutes to ask if we wanted a drink. Had to ask for the early bird menu (order before 6:00). Overall, overpriced and SLOW service.
We came with high expectations since the restaurant was Michelin rated, but they left us completely disappointed and unsatisfied. The food was mediocre at best. It came to Luke warm and under seasoned. The waiter was lackluster and not very helpful with ordering or checking in on us while we were eating. After we were done eating we ask for a to go container for my teen daughter and they just left it for her to do it herself. She ended up spilling the leftover food in her lap. I I’ve never been to a fine dining restaurant that doesn’t take care of packaging the left overs. For $190 for 3 what a joke, take your money somewhere else.
Service and food quality left a lot to be desired. Inflated prices left a bad taste. Limited knowledge of wait staff was an additional detriment to what was supposed to be a wonderful special occasion.
Great food and service. Seats were close together.
This is a special occasion place to eat in Monterey, pricy but a fine dining spot. The menu is varied, has seafood, pasta, steaks, all are amazing. Our meal consisted of , abalone soup, Caesar salad, and we chose to split a steak, all the food was delicious. The wine we ordered was not our favorite, so that was a little disappointing. The conservatory room is lovely, and most popular room. The servers were having a difficult time reaching our table due to both how close the other table was to us and a huge potted tree in the room. Maybe they need to get a smaller plant and space the tables further apart to help the servers. Since this was our first time coming back from Covid shutdown it was great to be back inside. This is a call for a reservation at least a week ahead of time to get a time slot you desire.
Splurged on the Abalone. Was fabulous but ouch $85.00. Service excellent. Would recommend
Wife and I went for our Anniversary. Amazing service and one of a kind food. Overall excellent dining experience.
Pleasant atmosphere. Great food. Recommend early dinner menu
Food was delicious service was great. Observatory is beautiful.
Prices are very steep. Memorable location and food.
A classic Monterey eatery with excellent food and a great menu. The portions are generous and the quality is first rate. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it.
Returning after 30 years and still very enjoyable
