Sarabeth's Park Avenue South Ratings and Reviews
We had stopped going this restaurant after we went with a friend of ours last Christmas Eve and were disappointed with the food that night. But we realize that it was a holiday and the kitchen may have been short- staffed. We gave it another try the other night and were glad we did. The food and service were great. We loved the crabmeat guacamole for the appetizers and both fish dishes we ordered— the Branzino and Ahi Tuna— were fresh and creatively prepared. My glass of red wine revived my memories of how well they store their wine to prevent it from turning bitter, something that many NY restaurants including some five star places need to learn.
Service was slow. It took quite a while to get our burgers. The fries were cold and the guacamole had a brown layer on top. We were so hungry we just ate it. The food was fine and it probably would have been great if it was hot and on time. We told one of the managers when he brought over the bill and he just said Sorry,we are so busy.
Was travelling to New York on business and hoping for a pleasant breakfast with a variety of menu options. Was with a group of three with various items ordered. The food was very inconsistent. Baked goods were terrific omelets were suspect sides were average. Latte was lukewarm and coffee refills sporadic.
Despite requesting a quiet table we were seated at a small table no more than 6 inches between the two tables on either side.
The server was working his tail off but having a very difficult time keeping up with the traffic. Perhaps the restaurant was under staffed on the day.
Very vibrant restaurant and would be keen to try again although Sarabeth’s missed the mark on this particular day.
Our visit to Sarabeth's was disappointing. Our server's shift seemed to end after we ordered and no one told us. Then, all of our meals came except for one. No one said anything or came back to check on us. After 5-10 minutes, we flagged down another server and asked him to check on the missing food. It came out quickly thereafter (meaning it was ready but forgotten about), incorrect, at which time, another server took the incorrect side item and brought out a new one. There was no apology, no recognition that there was a mistake made or the food was forgotten about, etc. Beyond that, the portions were tiny - a grilled cheese and cup of tomato soup for $20 - I have never seen a grilled cheese so small or with so little cheese. We likely will not be returning.
This is my favorite Sarabeths in the city. It’s larger than most so the wit isn’t too bad. The bar is spacious and if you are a party of 2 and can’t get a table it’s a great alternative. Brunch is my favorite meal at Sarabeths. I highly recommend any one of the omelets with a choice of bread or a popover (can’t get a popover at the other locations), the lemon ricotta pancakes and a mimosa are my favorites!! Cannot go wrong!! A staple in my brunch Arsenal!
Great food but terrible service and we felt like anything we asked for was greeted with derision. The wait was very long for our drinks and food, and there were periods of time where 10-15 minutes would go by with no sign of our server. I’ve always loved taking family to Sarabeth’s for a special breakfast, but sadly I feel those times are over.
We went to a very late lunch and were seated in the back next to a wall separating us from the majority of the restaurant. The waiter didn't even know we were there until we finally called for him. I had also indicated in the appropriate place on the reservation form that it was my friend's birthday but they did not acknowledge it in any way. I've been here many times before and almost always had a good experience so I was disappointed in this visit. The server was very good until he had to leave
Sarabeth's Park Avenue never disappoints. It's very close to my office and they're open for early breakfast. I love that breakfast is available until 3:00pm for those who want brunch for lunch. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is attentive.
I echo what others have said recently about their positive experiences. I want to add that one of the people in our party is on a low carb (yuck) diet and requested several changes to her meal. The waitress was very accommodating and went out of her way to provide low carb alternatives (e.g., providing a nice selection of vegetables for the crab/guac dip).
Worst service and overpriced food that I’ve experienced in a very long time in NYC. I️ don’t recall being this disappointed and disgusted with poor service and poor management in quite some time. People should just go to a regular nyc diner for better food and prices.
Very poor service. Slow, incorrect as to what was ordered, preperation only mediocre, and food presentation was non existant. Main course arrived before our second course, and when it was time for our main course the food arrived ice cold and had to be sent back. Not a good experience!!!!
I was there for Thanksgiving dinner. One disappointment was that they served white potatoes with the turkey. Sweet potatoes are traditional for Thanksgiving. Also, the pumpkin soup had some cold, white stuff in the middle which I did not like. Other than those things, food was excellent.Service was superb.
thanksgiving dinner, away from home.. $100/ person by the time you pay for tips. They made an accommodation for one in our party that does not eat pork. Huge portion of mixed turkey meat. Stuffed when done, ate almost all just like at home. I must admit I would have loved 2 pie choices... the crisp was lovely. The only downside is that tips are not pooled, our waiter was great, took orders and checked in but the bulk of the work was done by other staff. I tipped this person separately.. I do hope they get paid a minimum wage but this was unknown to me and I live here in usa so assume they do not get a livable wage.
Had Thanksgiving Day family brunch. We were told we would be the last order for brunch as kitchen was switching for lunch service. My husband ordered pancakes & was disappointed. He told me after we left the restaurant that the pancakes were surprisingly dry and not warm. Seemed it had been sitting in kitchen all morning. For the price, we expected freshly cooked pancakes. Unfortunately, my husband did not tell this to the manager who checked on us mid-meal.
