Sarabeth's Park Avenue South Ratings and Reviews
Not sure what the hype is all about. The space
Is huge and loud with a lot of hard surfaces and Not personal, cozy, warm or intimate. several people in our party complained that their food was cold or just so so. Someone ordered toast but we had to ask for preserves, which is strange because that's what Sarabeth's is known for. I'm guessing this is why we were able to get a reservation at this location when all the others were booked.
The only reason I would come back is for the creamy tomato soup which is the Best I ever had.. It was amazing! All in all, I was disappointed and for the money, I would look elsewhere. PS they should take guacamole toast off the menu. This trend is creating an ecological disaster.
Terrible service. Just left the restaurant. Our waitress was slow, not friendly and never asked us how our food was. I've seen more personality from a mop!! My friend and I sat for 20 mins before we got bread and the restaurant was not crowded at all. We split calamari which was good. We each ordered a burger done medium, they were both rare. She never once came to ask how the food was. The waitress stood confused when we told her our meal was not up to par. The manager then came over, he was a wet rag just like the waitress. Oh, and our plates with our food sat forever before she walked over like a robot to ask if we were done. Zero personality from the manager and waitress. I guess this is the new management there? It's a shame, used to be great. He was also confused by our under cooked burgers. Then we got dessert menus. She never came to ask if we wanted anything lol... We sat their with the menus and she was MIA. The managers walk all around, never stop to see if we are OK even after we complained to him. So we asked the manager after flagging him down for the check - she then appeared and asked if we wanted dessert... No, we just asked for the check! We eventually were able to escape. Bad service. Zero personality.
We chose a bad day: New Year's Day. The restaurant was almost deserted so there was no atmosphere. The menus produced were, in error, from New Year's Eve. The service was not sparkling. The food was disappointing. It all felt like a bad hangover. I am sure this place is much better on every other day of the year and maybe better for lunch or brunch.
A fun place to go for brunch. Comfortable place, and very good service. you definitely need a reservation. I like some of their food better than others. The french toast is amazing. I don't like their English muffins -- taste more like biscuits and their chicken sausages are too spicy for me, but the bacon is good. Lunch and dinner are very good also, but you need to find what you like on the menu, and avoid what you don't.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, the food could be a little better. Also, waited a long time to use the Ladies Room, there's only two in the front, and one in the back. I feel like I missed a lot because I was in line waiting for the bathroom! The service was excellent, but the food was just good.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was delicious, and it was easy to carry on a quiet conversation. (Surprising, because it’s all hard surfaces) Two things were not quite up to par; we sat in a booth, and the banquette was so low that we felt like we needed booster seats. The other thing was that we requested butter for our bread and when it arrived it was in little plastic throw away cups with lids. While I appreciate them protecting the butter from other flavors in the refrigerator, the presentation at the table was tacky at best.
