The food is very good, we ordered three brunch options and they were all very flavorful and prepared perfectly. The ambience is great for having conversations, not too loud nor crowded.
I would not recommend. They charged us for a bottle of water and hot tea we did not order. Very polite and understanding when we pointed this out and removed them from the bill, but I fear tourists are the ones who categorically suffer in these types of situations.
This restaurant, unlike my childhood memories of Sarabeth's, is a corporate behemoth. There was nothing cosy or comforting about it. And they were out of scones!
I'm sorry you were disappointed in your experience. We charged you for the bottled water that was on your table that you requested from the busser initially. You were charged for hot tea because you asked the server for a selection of teas that were still on your table. We removed both from your check because we value our guests and are fair. Tourists are our guests as well as our neighbors in NYC. It's unfair for you to insinuate that we are taking advantage. Sarabeths Mgmt Team
We felt rushed because the servers came to our table three times within 45 minutes to ask if we were done even though our plates were half-full. Our cocktails were only half way done. I asked the server if I can get the sourdough bread with my griller-cheese instead of the pretzel bread. He said of course but it came out with the pretzel bread.
Service was terrible. I would not go back to this restaurant. Our waiter was inattentive and rude and not up to Sarabeth's quality.
Service was really good. Bar and host area were modern and chic but dining room was very dated. Reminded me of a 1990s Marriott hotel restaurant. Food - grilled chicken BLT - was really bland.
This could be the worst restaurant in New York City. The coffee was cold, the soup was tasteless, the salad was wilted and very salty with roast chicken that was obviously cooked on the flat top and absorbed the flavors of all the other food cooked there. We were going to order the fish tacos but the restaurant could not tell us what fish was being used in the dish. Do yourself a favor and buy a hotdog on the corner and save yourself the money.
Horrible experience. For starters it took 10 minutes to seat us even though I had a reservation. Then another 20 for the waiter to take our order. Waited and waited for the food. When it finally came my eggs were cold. Asked for ketchup and hot sauce three times. Finally got up and got it myself. Waiters were clueless, running around seemingly without any organization. Had several approach us to ask if we were okay but when we asked for things (see note above about ketchup. Also asked for a spoon at one point) they would disappear and not return. Then to top it off, one of the waiters spilled a tray with mimosas that shattered and soaked my date. Her cashmere sweater will have to be dry cleaned. The manager was responsive to this and said they would take care of it once we send them the bill. Comp’d about half of the meal (should really have comp’d the whole thing but whatever). Date was ruined. Not going back ever. Don’t think anybody should give this place any business.
Celebrating a fiends’s birthday. We did not tell the waiter but he overheard and brought her a dessert. Very nice of him to do that.
Best lemon ricotta pancakes and coffee! We come here every time we are in New York.
Gave this a try ahead of a show at the cutting room. Service was prompt and excellent. Food was great. All of us had the steak frite - prepared as requested and was excellent. Drinks were great.
Great place for brunch. Crowded
Food is excellent! Service was impeccable. Our server, Steven, was polite and attentive. We had pumpkin pancakes, French toast, egg popover and a muffin basket. Everything was delicious!
We came for late lunch, then met friends for pre-concert cocktails, apps, and desserts. The food was good and service extraordinary.
Never had more attentive service from the wait and bus staff. Coffee and water cups never got less than 1/2 filled.
While the food and service is always excellent, the tables were extremely tight. We were truly sitting so close to the two tables next to us that it made conversation difficult. I am a thin person and I had to wedge myself past the neighboring table making for a very awkward start to the meal.
Sarabeth's is always solid. No matter which location you go to. I happen to like this location the best because it is the biggest open room with nice high ceilings. It is also much easier to get a reservation at this location as compared to the ones uptown. The food was good as usual. Will go back again and again.
Delightful as always! Staff and good are excellent every time.
Love Sara Beth’s especially for brunch. It’s my neighborhood go to!
I always have a good time when I'm at Sarabeth's! The service is great, the food is delicious and the ambiance is perfect. Congrats guys!
I left the restaurant and noticed I forgot my shopping bag on the table. I returned 5 minutes later and the bad was nowhere to be found. The staff was not helpful at all and barely searched for it. I ended up leaving without finding it back
Super attentive service. I like the availability of breakfast items at 1pm. Food was delicious. The place was crowded but not noisy, able to enjoy a nice lunch.
I know it’s Sarabeth’s policy not to seat a party until everyone is there, but with 4 out of 5 there early, and the place half empty and our table ready, why make those waiting crowd uncomfortably at the bar? Next they always push bottled water - even for a party that has cocktails!! The waiter was nice but we had to flag him down to ask for more drinks or coffee or even more water. And then there was the check. We wanted the check split but one person was charged double the split. It took almost 20 minutes to straighten out while we sat there waiting. Odd for a place that clearly publishes the amount of time a party “has” the table. Anyway we finally got out of there. The food is good and it’s a pretty place and it’s a favorite of my friends. So it won’t be the last time I go there.
RESERVATION FOR 7:45.
Kitchen does NOT open till 8:00.
Had a meeting and other part of my party had a flight to catch.
We had a great service.
The hostess was very rude and did not understand how this was a problem. This must be fixed! Dine here fairly frequently though this was very disappointing! Need to have communications and information inline not a great experience with her -
Great food with generous portions!
My problem was the service. Our waiter was in an word awful. I was a waitress in my 20's so I speak from experience when I say he was just terrible. The host and the bus people were fine. We actually saw the bus staff constantly, but our waiter remained elusive for the most part. We ordered, and all seemed fine.
His personality was flat..that would be the best way to describe him. At any rate the drinks came without my Virgin Mary...I thought okay it'll be here in a few minutes. Well I was wrong and since I never saw my waiter again I walked up to the host desk and complained that I did not receive my Virgin Mary and could not seem to locate our waiter (there were 5 of us). The waiter I assume was informed and he brought over my drink. He walked over and said Virgin Mary? I held up my hand and he put the drink down. I am so sorry but as a former waitress I would have said I am so sorry at least. We could not find him to pay the check...we asked one of the other waitstaff, so he went to get him as we were using multiple cards.
He came we explained and that was it. There was never a smile nothing...flat. I left a 20% tip because he was not rude, I normally tip higher but he did nothing to warrant a better tip. Food was good and came out quickly, with no issues. Oh and the manger did come over to check that I had received my drink.
My husband said as we were leaving, well maybe he was having a bad day, I said I am sorry but when I was a waitress and no matter what might have been going on in my personal life had no bearing on my guests...they always thought that I was happy and friendly. If you cannot put aside your personal life while your waiting on people you should not be in the service industry. It's like acting, you play the part.
