Sarabeth's East Ratings and Reviews
I happened to glance at the dinner menu and saw many things that I typically like to eat so although we typically only go to Sarabeth’s for brunch, I decicided to try it for dinner since it was cold outside and Sarabeth’s is cozy. The food was mediocre and waitor very odd. There are way way too many great restaurnats in NYC that have much better food for dinner. Stick to Sarabeth’s for brunch only.
Had reservations, but was put upstairs. I did not think that was a problem .... but .... the table next to us was not taken and that surprised me. Only to find out, after I saw liquid on the inside seat, that water was droping from the vent above it. We left quickly. That is exactly the conditions that lead to diseases. We will never return. In addition, the rest rooms are horrible, dirty, no handtowels.
I have heard about Sarabeth's for years, but I live downtown and rarely come uptown to eat. I was going to thr 92 Street Y and thought I would give it a try.
Super big disappointment. Waiter was terrrible starting with telling us that we would get 6 glasses of wine out of a half bottle. I knew he was wrong. So- we ordered a second bottle which never made it to us during our meal, but when our plates were clean. So we sent it back and went to another restaurant for after dinner drinks. The branzino was out so I got file of sole. The plate was not hot nor was the food. Lacked flavor as well. Seven servers with 40 people and the service was terrible. Never again --- I do not know what all the hype is about this place.
Good spot for brunch if you don't mind lots of noise and it's very kid friendly so not a "date" spot for sure! Food was great (especially lemon ricotta pancakes) but they couldn't get act together on coffee. We both ordered double espresso's and they were luke warm. Sent them back and again...luke warm. FIX THE MACHINE!
Having made a reservation and telling the hostess my name, very disappointed to learn not only did I receive a text stating I did not honor my Open Table reservation, I also got an email. This lack of communication is inexcusable. I also phoned the restaurant the following day explaining this.
The food is always very good. The writer perhaps a bit inexperienced but passable.
We had breakfast in Sarabeth's East and I must say that everyone should try their pancake - it's huge (multiple pancakes in a portion), fluffy and delicious. My husband had scrambled eggs which was also quite good. The service was fast. I recommend this place for Sunday breakfast in the city.
Very disappointing. Been to Sarabeth's Upper East side many times to take my mom out to dinner. Prices had increased 10% since our last visit in May. More importantly, the chicken that my mother and wife ordered was dry and the portions for both were much smaller than usual. My seafood salad was not the usual because they had run out of avocados at 6:30 pm.
So while we like Sarabeth's in general very much, this experience was extremely disappointing and will make us think twice about coming back at least to this location, as there are so many other choices in NYC
I was a little disappointed with the service- lunch is served at 11:30 and the waiter refused to take my order at 11:25 for "lunch". She also never delivered my drink.
But besides that, the food is always phenomenal, which keeps me coming back! This location is not a tourist trap.
It's restaurant week! There was a pre fix menu so we decided to take advantage of that. I had The braised short ribs. Absolutely delicious! The portion size was Enormous ! I couldn't finish all of it. Lobster Arancini and crabmeat guacamole for appetizers.
Everything about the meal was absolutely delicious!
Very rarified atmosphere which isn't everyone's taste. Since I was meeting a girlfriend for a quick lunch before a doctor's appointment on Upper Park, it suited us. The food was nicely presented but the flavors pretty weak. Especially nice service from the host Nina who was very helpful and friendly. I will return to try something more "brunchy" like the breads, pancakes, and omelettes which looked very appealing.
