Sarabeth's Central Park South Ratings and Reviews
We were a party of 5 and arrived for a 6.45 reservation and were seated at our table at 7.30. No explanations, no apologies, just left sitting inside the door on a freezing cold night. We asked a couple of times about our table and were just told it was being set up - though we spoke to 3 separate people nobody ever apologised. The strange thing was that when we got into the dining room there were LOADS of empty tables which remained empty all evening. It was chilly where we were sitting and when we asked if the radiator behind us could be turned on we were told they had no control over the heating. Again no apology. Our waiter was unfriendly and barely acknowledged anything that we requested. He was also pretty inefficient - taking away half finished drinks, not bringing drinks that were ordered etc. The food was lovely and the restaurant itself was also very nice although a bit lacking in atmosphere in the part we were in (with all the empty tables!!). We enjoyed the evening but the staff/service would put me off returning.
The food was delicious and fresh. Service was great. Large portions of food. The only complaint I have was they packed all those who were waiting in the lobby and it became very crowded, loud, and getting out of the restaurant was difficult. Overall I would go back, just make sure you have a reservation.
Delightful place to have breakfast or lunch. Welcoming staff and very patient for a super busy location. Easy to find with the Blue awnings our front, directly across from Central Park south. We made lunchtime reservations for 12:15 and were seated right about that time. Delicious food that was plated in an attractive way. Would highly recommend Sarabeth’s. I do suggest reservations or you will wait 45 minutes or longer during busy times.
I booked Sarabeths for my sister’s birthday and did not realize until we arrived that opentable had moved my original request til the following day so we had no reservation once we arrived. We were told we would have to wait for 30-45 min which we did. My sister and I ordered bloodied Mary’s which arrived beautifully but hers had two large hairs in it. The waiter brought her a new one but neither of us could drink ours after that. Food was good, we had waffles and omelets. Service was quick. I had to hail down our server a couple of times to ask for things but he acted quickly once asked. I honestly wish we had sent back Both bloodies and had them removed from our bill. I know things like this happen in the restaurant world but would have responded differently if I had thought about it. All in all a good restaurant with good service. I would recommend everything but the bloody
We went there because it had very good ratings and appeared to be not overpriced. Seemed worth a try... Since it wasn‘t possible to make a reservation for breakfast within the next few days we tried it out in the evening. Food was very good! Drinks were ok, too. Service was fine as well. Unfortunately the noise level was high -standard for NYC though.
There are 3 or 4 steps right behind the door but they have a „rear entrance“ to get in with a wheelchair. Just ask for help and they will show you where to go.
We‘d go back with no doubts when we are in the city again. It was worth the try! Enjoy it!
I have been to this restaurant on other occasions and must admit that I had not expected the service to be very good. However, our server was excellent and we were seated in an area of the restaurant that was out of the way and enabled us (two of us only) to have a conversation.
This is a must for brunch in the city. Make a reservation for sure. Portions are generous with fresh, quality ingredients. Don’t go on a budget. The fig and buck cocktail and the specialty mimosas sipped our cares away to start. French toast was wonderful. All omelettes are supreme.
I got really disappointed after our dinner at this place! There are a ton of reviews and I always wanted to try it! We ordered a wedge salad! Seriously it was the worst wedge salad! Only a few quarter leaves of lettuce and tomatoes! I can have better salad even at a crappy airport restaurant!!
I wasn’t able to chew the calamari... the octopus was so bad that I didn’t even have it! 3 small pieces of burnt octopus... overall I was really really disappointed as I always was looking fwd to try this place!
I am truly disappointed in this service we received at this restaurant. As we were ordering our food, we told our waitress that another guest will be joining us and asked to be moved to a bigger table to accommodate 5 people. She stated we needed to speak to the hostess at the front. One member of our party went to the front, she was told that they could not move us without permission from the manager. The restaurant was fairly empty and we could see multiple open tables about us. After about 10 minutes, I went to the hostess again and she stated the same thing. I waited at the front until we saw the hostess talk to the supposed manager, who I saw approach our waitress. Our waitress was visibly annoyed. I went back to our table and then after a few minutes our waitress said that we can only move once the additional person arrived. I placed an order in advance for the fifth person and I asked the waitress why we could not move to one of the empty tables now, as we will have to move with our half- eaten plates in the middle of our meal when the fifth guest arrives and she stated that is not an issue the staff will move everything over. Our food arrives and as we are eating, one person finds HAIR in their food. We have to wait for our waitress to come over and she takes the plate away. She offered to bring something else, but that person had lost their appetite by that time. Our fifth person arrives and he goes to the front to alert them. The hostess comes over and just points to one of the empty tables next to us and says we can move there. She did not help facilitate movement of the plates and glasses. No one did, in fact the staff watched as the members of our party made multiple trips moving our food and glasses to the new table. The bill came and included the meal with the hair. We asked for a manager who was not truly apologetic, I related the story and he did not seem phased. He took the bill and removed the hair meal. Worst service I have experienced ever!!!
