Sarabeth's Central Park South Ratings and Reviews
Last night we ate at Sardis
Sardis had excellent service
Not so at Sara Beth- the service was rushed and we got our entree before we had finished the appetizer
The scallops were better at Sardis as well where
They were served with two sauces
At Sara Beth they were ok but not as good
The banana split was so-so
No chocolate and I love chocolate on banana splits
This was our second meal at Sarabeth's--we loved it the first time! We also made a reservation on OpenTable which was awesome. The second time around, however, was not the greatest. We ordered an appetizer, but then they brought out the appetizer with our entrees. We had to choose what we wanted to eat warm--sadly the appetizer got cold. They also brought out the incorrect eggs Benedict, which wasn't a big deal, it just wasn't what we ordered. We asked our server about both (the appetizer and the eggs Benedict and he kind of did this nodding of his head and said some "um, well, um..." Note to self for next time--do not order your meal and appetizer at the same time. Otherwise that, the food is delicious :)
I have been coming to Sarabeth for years. I like the breakfast, however the service is going down. I prefer the menu options at the Tribeca location which is different. I asked server about it he told me the menus are the same. When I showed him the Tribeca Menu which has a Tribeca Breakfast, he informed me they don't offer that at Central Park but he would let his manager know, made no sense to me. Disappointing.
We were a party of 5 and arrived for a 6.45 reservation and were seated at our table at 7.30. No explanations, no apologies, just left sitting inside the door on a freezing cold night. We asked a couple of times about our table and were just told it was being set up - though we spoke to 3 separate people nobody ever apologised. The strange thing was that when we got into the dining room there were LOADS of empty tables which remained empty all evening. It was chilly where we were sitting and when we asked if the radiator behind us could be turned on we were told they had no control over the heating. Again no apology. Our waiter was unfriendly and barely acknowledged anything that we requested. He was also pretty inefficient - taking away half finished drinks, not bringing drinks that were ordered etc. The food was lovely and the restaurant itself was also very nice although a bit lacking in atmosphere in the part we were in (with all the empty tables!!). We enjoyed the evening but the staff/service would put me off returning.
The food was delicious and fresh. Service was great. Large portions of food. The only complaint I have was they packed all those who were waiting in the lobby and it became very crowded, loud, and getting out of the restaurant was difficult. Overall I would go back, just make sure you have a reservation.
Delightful place to have breakfast or lunch. Welcoming staff and very patient for a super busy location. Easy to find with the Blue awnings our front, directly across from Central Park south. We made lunchtime reservations for 12:15 and were seated right about that time. Delicious food that was plated in an attractive way. Would highly recommend Sarabeth’s. I do suggest reservations or you will wait 45 minutes or longer during busy times.
I booked Sarabeths for my sister’s birthday and did not realize until we arrived that opentable had moved my original request til the following day so we had no reservation once we arrived. We were told we would have to wait for 30-45 min which we did. My sister and I ordered bloodied Mary’s which arrived beautifully but hers had two large hairs in it. The waiter brought her a new one but neither of us could drink ours after that. Food was good, we had waffles and omelets. Service was quick. I had to hail down our server a couple of times to ask for things but he acted quickly once asked. I honestly wish we had sent back Both bloodies and had them removed from our bill. I know things like this happen in the restaurant world but would have responded differently if I had thought about it. All in all a good restaurant with good service. I would recommend everything but the bloody
We went there because it had very good ratings and appeared to be not overpriced. Seemed worth a try... Since it wasn‘t possible to make a reservation for breakfast within the next few days we tried it out in the evening. Food was very good! Drinks were ok, too. Service was fine as well. Unfortunately the noise level was high -standard for NYC though.
There are 3 or 4 steps right behind the door but they have a „rear entrance“ to get in with a wheelchair. Just ask for help and they will show you where to go.
We‘d go back with no doubts when we are in the city again. It was worth the try! Enjoy it!
I have been to this restaurant on other occasions and must admit that I had not expected the service to be very good. However, our server was excellent and we were seated in an area of the restaurant that was out of the way and enabled us (two of us only) to have a conversation.
