Sad to see this institution has deteriorated over the years in terms of service and the quality of food. On arrival at 8am for breakfast with a booking meant no difference compared to those who lined up for a table and the waiter got my order wrong. Not the best experience.

Complete tourist trap. Dont - don’t go. I have no idea how it gets such good ratings. Cute name. Terrible food, etc. I had the Sarabeth’s quiche. It was. old, had to have been previously frozen and then heated again and again. Parts of it were so hard that it could not be eaten. I thought this was going to be like a nice ladies’ tea room. It’s not. First clue- paper napkins, and at my table, one of the napkins looked used. Paper over the table cloths, like they are getting ready for a crab boil. You won’t get out of there for less than $30 a person. I’m not sure why open table says that. That would be ok if it were really a nice place. The tables are all very tight together. It’s very loud due to so many tables. Your best bet if you do go is to sit in the front room or outside. Service was not great. There are so many good places in New Uork, this is not one. Also, as an aside, the following day I happened to be walking by with my husband about 4pm. We were set to have dinner at 6 with family nearby, and we had had a late lunch, so we thought we would sit outside, nice weather, and have drinks . There were several open tables outside and many inside. My husband and I just wanted to sit and have a drink outside there. My husband is 3 days away from knee surgery, so he was in terrible pain and needed to sit - and he could t walk up steps/stairs. So I went up the steps of the entry to get us a table. The middle aged male concierge would only allow us to sit in one of four seats at the bar- an undesirable place- if we weren’t going to order food. It was not really a bar, not in a good spot, all we wanted to do was order drinks which would have been at least $30. No, he would not allow my husband (who could not even walk up the stairs to go inside) to sit at an outside table. I think that is also discriminatory under the ADA. So if you have mobility issues Sarabeth’s is not going to accommodate. They struck out twice with us.

WARNING: DONT LET THEM SIT YOU IN THE BACK! We were a party of 2 and were seated at the back, in the corner ,unknowing of what was to come. Mind you… we passed several OPEN tables that would have been just fine. LARGE TABLES filled in, quickly, with families, with small children who were not well behaved - screaming, crying, you get the picture. Food was very good. Waitress disappeared once it got busy, once our food came - never got a refill of coffee. Had to ask the busser that was clearing tables nearby. Probably won’t return when back in the city. Convenient to our hotel, but so many other “quieter” breakfast spots all within a reasonable walk.

The service was excellent. The food however was not good. I ordered the steak frietes. I ordered the steak medium. It was as served very well done. Tough, rubbery. Not good. The fries must have been under a warmer because top few were warm the rest cold. But as I said service was excellent and wine (Pinot noir) was good.

We went for a last minute early dinner as we didn't feel like cooking. it's been a while since we've been to this restaurant. The food was good and the server was as well. However I must say that the reception was quite odd. It was very dark and unwelcoming as was the individual at check in. The restaurant was nearly empty and they presented us with a table stuck in the back.

A Perfect New York Welcome Breakfast at Sarabeth’s After a long overnight flight with two kids in tow, we were in desperate need of a comforting breakfast — and Sarabeth’s at Central Park South delivered exactly that and more. We arrived with high hopes (and hungry bellies), and the warm, classic NYC brunch vibe of Sarabeth’s instantly made us feel welcome. The staff were kind and attentive, even with our little ones running on zero sleep and 100% curiosity. We started our breakfast with the Avocado Benedict — perfectly poached eggs on a fluffy English muffin, creamy avocado, and a touch of heat from the tomato-jalapeño jam. It was rich, fresh, and flavorful without being too heavy. The Spinach & Goat Cheese Omelette was another win: light, fluffy, and filled with tangy cheese and vibrant greens — a perfect healthy yet satisfying dish. For our kids, breakfast became a morning adventure. The Child French Toast was golden, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside — exactly how it should be — with just enough sweetness to make our 7-year-old smile. The biggest surprise? The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Soft, citrusy, and just sweet enough — even we adults stole a few bites (okay, more than a few!). you can feel the New York energy while still enjoying a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. This was the perfect first meal in the city — comforting, high-quality food in a beautiful location with service that genuinely cares. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking to ease into New York with a perfect plate and a smile.

I went to Sarabeth’s for lunch. Food was delicious, service was on point, and a great location. The only downside is it’s pricey.
