Delicious food but details were not taken care of. For example: menus never taken away, missing straws, didn’t pour drinks for us (dropped off beer and glass). Still considerate and good waitress! Just busy.
Food was acceptable but overpriced. Portions could have been larger given the price charged. The wine brought to the table was not the wine listed on the menu, with a lame excuse that they were equivalent. Entres were not served hot. The chocolate cake dessert, however, was delicious. The restaurant has a full, well stocked bar. A good place for a drink and a snack, but look elsewhere for a full meal.
We had the sea bass for dinner and it was delicious! Our waitress was super cute and friendly. Service was excellent all around. They always knock it out of the park on all fronts, which is why I keep coming back.
Right size portions. Great cocktails!
We went to Saphire for Valentines Day. They offered a special menu for food and drinks in addition to their regular menu. The food was excellent. They had a nice assortment of drinks as well. We were well taken care of and not rushed. Would totally recommend this restaurant!
The cocktails are amazingly creative and very tasty! The price of the cocktails ($10 each) was a little on the steep side.
Staff was amazing and informative.
The food was okay, but expected better for the price.
The service was good except our server was caught up in an unforeseen dilemma with an exceptionally intoxicated patron. She had to be carried out by her friends. It was interesting. The food was expensive considering the portion size, though it was quite tasty. We ordered the hot chicken sliders and bbq chicken sliders. I believe they were $13 each for 2 sliders to make a total of 4 sliders coming in at $26. That’s on the appetizer menu. Overall it’s certainly more of a bar versus a restaurant. It’s probably not the place you’ll want to go for a date night dinner, but rather the place for drinks afterwards.
Best cocktails in Knoxville. I had a Sazerac and it was amazing. We also shared appetizers and they were all delicious.
Apps, drinks and dessert are the shinning stars. Everything else is just ok.
Bachelorette dinner for 12 on a busy Saturday night. Service, food, and drinks were superb! Highly recommend!
Restaurant was not busy but it took our server more than 5 minutes to greet us. Then a 10 minute wait for drinks and the 3 apps we ordered took 25 minutes.
Food was good (not great) but was not worth the wait.
Go for drinks, but eat before. Food is not their forte. We weren't having drinks this particular night and were sorely disappointed. Even the arugula salad was lacking - too much vinegar.
Great food and good service! Quality food for good prices! Good bourbon selection!
We reserved our table, honestly because Café4 was all booked up for our time slot. We had tickets for a 7:30 PM show at the Tennessee Theater. Sapphire had an opening so we took a chance as first-timers. We are so glad we did! I had the Pan-seared Barramundi, which was an incredible piece of fish - highly recommend! She had the Masaman Curry which was a little on the spicy hot side for her taste, but delicious for anyone liking the extra kick. Decent prices, casual, yet upscale atmosphere. Service was excellent, relaxed yet got us out in time for the show. We will be back. Thanks!
The food was just OK... Trying to be more than just bar food and not quite making it. Food lacked flavor. Dessert of mousse was the only thing worth mentioning..... Definitely more of a bar than a restaurant.
Terrible service. Clearly understaffed and it took forever to get our food and drinks.
The food we ordered was good, and we'll made. Price was reasonable for the food received.
Great atmosphere, very cool place, food is great and our server was exceptional!
Great place for a casual meal or a night out with friends! We went for the Pirate Party over Halloween weekend, and the atmosphere was great. Laid back, but great service and great food. Staff was professional and very friendly/personable. They seemed to enjoy interacting with customers, rather than seeing them as a dollar figure (as many do). I'd recommend this place and I plan to go back.
Great atmosphere and food. I really enjoyed myself.
Sapphire is not the place to go if you want to dine out. Basically they are just a big bar where people go to drink. They have a very limited dinner menu, only 5 dishes, only 2 of which are actual dinners (1 chicken and 1 fish). The other 3 "dinners" were a burger, a chicken sandwich, and pork tacos. It was worth a try, but we won't be going back.
Server forgot our appetizer. The food is overpriced and not tasty. Maybe this is an OK place to grab a drink but skip the meal.
Sapphire is a good place to meet friends for a drink. They have a full bar and a pretty good wine list; however, the pours are a bit stingy for both wine and spirits. The food menu is very limited (a few appetizers and a couple of entrees). It was tasty, but not worth the big price. Location downtown is prime. The staff was polite, but not overly friendly, especially to strangers from out of town. I got the impression that this place is either getting ready to grow or go. Seemed like they had tight purse strings in running the place.
Reserved a dinner for two here while making late Valentines Day plans out of town. The food was outstanding. The mixed drinks were exotic, maybe a tad strong, but worth the price for a change of pace.
Be serving staff was attentive and professional, and the Valentine's Day menu was a pleasing combination of diverse tastes. My understanding is that the owner is also the primary chef, and I was pleased with his creativity and the food quality. This is probably a great place to go for happy hour or evening drinks and small plate style meals. While I have not been here on any other occasion, it seems like this might be a trendy early evening bar scene. I strongly recommend it.
If going as a party less than four...sit at the bar. There are these little alcoves right behind the tables on one side that were being used for two folks. Looked tight and boxed in...didn't look comfortable. days.plsce for party of four. ..tables were nice. The appetizers anica nice to share and were good. Will try again on a Monday or Thursday...specials sound good on those days.
Food was great, service was prompt, atmosphere was cool. Noise level was ok, crowd was probably louder than music, not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Pulled pork nachos....ohmahgawd
This was a repeat visit for us. The service was spotty - other tables that came in after us were served first, the manager did not explain happy hour and tried to blame the server for it, and just generally overall disappointed. We won't be back.
My wife and I, together with some relatives, were in Knoxville for a funeral. After visiting the funeral home, we needed to find a place for dinner. So I looked on Open Table and found Sapphire. It looked good online. Unfortunately, when we got there, my wife discovered that Sapphire is a nightclub. We were looking just to have a nice dinner; we don't do nightclubs. So we turned around and ate elsewhere. It was a disappointment and a waste of time.
A limited menu, but what they had was excellent. Mostly small plates with a few special entrees and a couple of entrée salads. Their drink menu is outstanding and well-organized by the primary ingredient - 4 different rye whisky based drinks had us hooked. Although quiet when we first arrived at about 9:15, by 10:00 it was very loud with some of the worst "party music" I've ever heard. We'd go back, but only earlier in the evening.
Upon arriving at 715 most patrons drinking not eating. Service was very slow due to the server doing double duty. Food was OK but not what I'd expected based on the reviews. A artisan cheese board made up of pepper jack cheese, Manchego and per the server some stinky but good white cheese. The burger was good and made to order. Wine pours good. Noisy based on the number at the bar and number of beers per each.
It is summer and a college town.
Drinks are different, but not that good. Strict drink policy not allowing you to exchange them if you don't like them. Food is below average.
I chose Sapphire because it was close to the Tennessee theater and based on the extensive menu and grass fed beef selection. We get there and we were seated promptly and given menus. I looked at it and asked the server to the "other" menu. She said they didn't have a head chef right now and had to downsize. It was very disappointing. However, the choices we made were very good and the kitchen crew did a good job preparing the menu that they did have. Service was a little slow but the overall experience was good. I just had a higher expectation regarding the menu items.
My friends and I met for drinks on Saturday night, stayed for hours and listened to music. We managed to get up the next morning for Sunday brunch and it was SO worth it!! Sapphire sat us on their back patio and it was quiet and very comfortable. The food was fantastic, great portion sizes, and the drinks hit the spot. And our server, Courtney, did a great job taking care of us. Thank you Courtney, we will be back to see you next week!!!
Food was only ok. They did have a nice selection of cocktails. Good place for a drink or two, but if you are a foodie not that great a choice.
My wife absolutely loved the place! We went early, so it was quite quiet with a good atmosphere. Might have to go back sometime when it is later in the evening to catch some live music!
I made a reservation through portable for Sapphire from Christmas dinner. The reservation was for 430pm. We my family arrived to the restaurant, there was a sign out front stating they would not open until 5pm. I called the number listed on open table and it just rang. The telephone number on sapphires web site did have an answering machine, so I left a message. ( never received a call back )
When the two lovely ladies opened the doors at 5pm they explained to us that the kitchen was not opened and the cooks would not be in until 6pm, since they were spending time with there families.
Thank you open table and sapphire for the great Christmas !
If you are under 30 and love to be assaulted by loud voices and poor service then this is a place for you. My husband & I were in town for a conference and decided to try out the area, we were so disappointed. I ordered a shrimp/pasta dish and I counted 4 shrimp and the dish was not hot, mildly warm. The only highlight of the meal was the black eye pea hummus, that was good.
Always a pleasure to dine here. The food is fresh, appealing served, and very tasty. While I like bringing clients in, the waitresses' skirts are getting shorter and shorter and the blouses are getting lower and lower. Some of my clients need blood pressure medication and heart attack meds after being served their dinners! Can't beat the food and the price for drinks....
Six people met for appetizers and drinks prior to a performance at the Tennessee Theatre. Drinks came fast (bottle of wine) and water. Food orders were placed and it took a very long time to get them. Not many people in the restaurant at the time, so couldn't quite figure out why. When they finally arrived, they were absolutely delicious. Placed in the center of the table with small plates and silverware all around, enabled us to sample each dish. Everything was superb. Made the curtain but were a wee bit worried about it.
