Sapori Italian Restaurant - White Plains Ratings and Reviews
One of my favorite restaurants and this being Restaurant Week I took the opportunity to introduce a friend. I always worry about recommending a restaurant to a friend, because this might be the one time the chef is home sick and the experience is less than was promised - absolutely not here. Everything was really wonderful. I know my friend will be back as well.
We had lunch today, started with their always delicious mussels as an app, then had the seafood pasta - loaded with seafood and al dente pasta, wife had the brozino. All delicious. And BAU fabulous service, with great wine list loaded up with Croatian choices -- we had the red babi (babcic) reserve from the family vineyard -- very nice.
Sux if us had dinner and one meal was better than the other. The Cesar salads were crisp with lots of anchovies, the eggplant rollatini delicious. The clams organata were delicious but the clams themselves on the small side. The entrees were equally amazing. The fish was so fresh and desserts were great. Try the ITALIAN cheesecake
Good Italian food we have enjoyed over time but we may not return because of the noise level. We could not hear the waiter or each other, and it seemed worse than ever. The restaurant needs to address this. Also, the $65 bottle of wine that the waiter offered he would "give us at a price of $50" was not worth 20. A very bland red. Have not found this low quality of wine typical of them in the past and hope it does not become a pattern.
We skipped dessert and coffee and had it elsewhere to get away from the noise -- a loss for all.
The food and service at Sapori was excellent. They couldn't have been more accommodating about the food selections. Even though it was restaurant week and they had a fixed price menu you could order from...within that menu we had to make some changes due to dietary needs. They made every change we asked for and with a smile! The service is impeccable! We would return in an instant!
We had a poor experience. We had 7 family members & had to wait 15 min past our reservation in a very small area with other diners waiting. No apologies for the wait. No offer to get us a cocktail while we waited. When the waiter came to take our order one of family members was not ready yet. He said he would be back in 5 min. After 15 min we had to tell one of the other waiters to please go get him for our order. The two different salads we ordered were bland(Cesar & a pear salad with Gorgonzola cheese dressing). When we got our entree courses 1/2 of party liked their dinners & the other half didn’t. Steak seemed to be the best option. This doesn’t speak well for an Italian restaurant & I am Italian! When we didn’t want to order coffee & desert the waiter who wasn’t the original waiter made a face. They try push appetizers, wine & deserts to increase the bill. Our eating experience took over 2 hours & 20 minuets. This was with out desert & coffee. No thank you when leaving. When we left we didn’t realize that there was valet parking. We parked at a building next door which was closed for the evening. When we came out the valet had blocked our car on purpose. My husband was able to get the car out with a bit of maneuvering. When we were about to pull out the valet came over screaming at us, saying didn’t you see the sign. My husband told him no, the sign was very far from where we parked & it was not visible. He kept on screaming & we left. This is no way to treat your patrons!!
I like the ambiance of the place, it reminds me of a NYC restaurant - loud, crowded, tables close together - but nice. The food was very good, however my husband never got the oysters he ordered for a starter. My problem was that I ordered the Lobster Ravioli special. Unfortunately I couldn't detect any lobster taste whatsoever (never mind any actual meat). I am convinced I was given their cheese ravioli. I mentioned it to our waiter who said he would mention it to the chef. After a while of him walking past our table, I stopped him to ask if he had spoken to the chef. He said yes, that the chef insists what I got was Lobster Ravioli, and that the lobster was in the actual ravioli itself (odd). I told him they tasted like cheese ravioli, and he said it wasn't possible as they don't have cheese ravioli on the menu. Well, clearly he is mistaken as it was right there on the menu. I was charged $24 for what tasted just like cheese ravioli. The waiter said management agreed to provide a shot of Sambuca free of charge, which was very nice of them but I didn't feel was compensation enough.
I may go back there again as they do have a gluten-free pasta option which is good for my husband, and the food was tasty. It was probably just a couple of mistakes - a bad night.
Food and service were excellent. Very creative, innovative and tasty specials. The owner was extremely friendly and circulated throughout the restaurant and very friendly to all of the patrons. Can't wait to return to this restaurant.
As usual consistently excellent food with very attentive service. Accommodated our guests who have dietary problems. Overall as always a very pleasant evening. If you haven’t visited Sapori you must try it, but not Saturday night.
This small Italian restaurant (with it's own parking) is really excellent. Fish, veal, veg, -out standing. It's near the County Center so a great choice if you're going to an event there. Great food, great service, quiet enough to talk to friends!
The food was excellent but the noise level was quite high. This was our third time dining here and I do not recall the noise level being so high on previous visits. Maybe it was just the groups at the tables around us on this particular night. We still enjoyed our night and we will return again since the food really is very, very good.
Sapori is truly a neighborhood gem for excellent Italian cuisine. We enjoyed the special stuffed zucchini blossoms for an appetizer as well as the branzino and gnocchi entrees. All were delicious. The owner was attentive to ensure we were happy with our dinner experience and came by several times to chat with us. The wine selection was very nice.
Hands down...the Caesar Salad at Sapori is the best I've ever had! It is prepared from scratch tableside with the freshest ingredients. We love their Pasta dishes and Chicken Marsala is fantastic as well! I have never ordered anything that I did not love.
