Warm cozy welcoming great food and service.
We love this place! We have been here several times and every visit is exceptional, from the service to the food!
Would have like to rate them higher but we had several issues: the food took a very long time; Lemon for water forgotten, had to remind to get it. Never refilled the bread after requesting, and the scallops had some grit. I think their desserts are priced too high for what you are getting. Thankfully I brought my own candles because even though I put it in the reservation request and reminded the server before he brought the dessert, it did not arrive with a candle, nor did it have the whipped cream that we requested. We were told that there was no whipped cream on hand, which I thought was odd for this caliber of a restaurant. Might give it another chance someday.
My friend and I had the same, the special pasta dish with crabmeat, scallops and shrimp in a pink tomato sauce. It was delicious.
The problem is overbooking. It is often a half hour or more after you reservation before you are seated. Many people are frustrated and complaining, some waiting almost an hour. It is best if you have a reservation at 8:30 or later. Ours was 8 and we were seated about 8:40.
People are crowded in the hallway which is uncomfortable wait.
I will return because food is good as I did with a friend but my husband will never come back. He felt very rushed, we were barely out of our seat and it was cleared, reset and people in our chairs.
Sapore is an absolute GEM! There is talent in the kitchen and the food Never disappoints. You need to make this a stop every time you are in Cape May, I do!
The bread wasn't very good at all, tasted dry and did not taste fresh at all. We had to ask for the complimentary Antipasti as the server forgot to bring to the table - it was good and a nice touch. We would not have known about specials which we barely overhead from another table if we didn't ask our waiter. We both had the Italian Wedding Soup which was o.k. My Linguini Ala Pescatore was terrible - it had no flavor and the seafood was like rubber (overcooked). To be fair my wife enjoyed her Gnocchi Sorentina, which had nice flavor - it was also a nice portion as she took some back to the B&B. Service was average at best. Dissappointing considering how many positive reviews were posted for this establishment.
We were a group of 9 in for a 6:00 dinner. Sapore is in a nice old victorian house and we were on the first floor.
Service was great, attentive without being obtrusive and our server Max was very personable and knowledgeable. While it wasn’t very busy when we arrived it did get pretty crowded over the course of the meal but we were never rushed. I would think you would definitely need a reservation on any weekend night.
Form the complimentary charcuterie plate (so good and a nice start) to our entrees, we were all very happy with our meals. Some highlights:
Appetizers - arugula salad, a beet salad and the most delicious Italian wedding ever.
Shrimp scampi which was soo good in a blush sauce
Veal saltimbocca excellent and so was the veal parmigiana
Seafood pasta in a light cream sauce delicious
Two different fish dishes that were very good
I would say that the only thing which was ok was the dessert menu, it could be better, but we were all pretty full anyway because the portions are large and we had a some take homes. I do consider most of the items to be a good value, especially for being in Cape May.
I was here before with just the husband and enjoyed that meal as well. All in all a very nice restaurant and we will be back
Always a must when we go to Cape May. Everything is prepared to perfection.
Our first time at this restaurant and was very happy with the experience. Wait staff was great! The only negative was the grilled calamari - lacked flavor and was chewy. Entrees were delicious. We will be back to this BYOB!
Our first time, and we will definitely be back! Couldn't have been happier.
Great service and food! Also a BYOB which is wonderful!
Had a wonderful time we will definitely return!
Best meal we had all week
Everyone enjoyed their dinner. Food was great and our waiter, Maxx made for an enjoyable evening. Will definitely return
Tables too close together. My husband sat with his elbow in the wine bucket and the waiters just pushed past us the entire meal. My husband was served the wrong entree so they served mine and came back with his 15 min later. The food was good. I would never consider this to be fine dining. A little better than basic Italian.
We brought my mother in law to Cape May as a surprise for her 60th birthday, we reserved a table here as an added treat for her. Unfortunately she was having some health issues that night but the staff showed concern and were very accommodating when we had to leave quickly. Seriously some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. We will definitely be coming back again next time we’re in Cape May.
Food was great. Unfortunately, I received the wrong meal and had to wait a while for my meal.
I thought Sapore was excellent. My husband and I both thought our meals were delicious and our two friends also thought their meals were as well. The service was excellent, food excellent. We will definitely be back again. They have a big menu with so many entrees to choose from. We had the eggplant for an appetizer and it was excellent as well.
We have a condo in WWC . When we go down there (7th year) we always try to go to the restaurant (about 10 times). Their food is EXCELLENT. When talking to other people at our condo (96 units) we always mention Sapore.
Will be back again!
Food was great. Our server was very nice and helpful. Can't wait to back there to eat.
Excellent meal and excellent service by Max. Excellent meal and excellent service by Max.
Everything was fine
Need to get Italian bread
Sapore is a fantastic Otalian restaurant. The food is absolutely perfect. The portions are perfect size. The service was flawless.
Will worth what we spent. Parking ward a little limited, might be tuff during their busy season.
Service was great. Received a complimentary antipasto. The room we were in was busy but not too noisy. Portions were large and delicious.
We continue to find and spread the word that Sapore's is our favorite in Cape May; food and service is excellent. (The profiterole dessert is to die for!)
Delicious meal and excellent service. Both had the specials, one was veal and the other seafood and pasta. Also had Caesar salad which was very good as well.
Sapore Italiano has developed quite nicely since they opened a few years ago, and is now our favorite Italian restaurant in Cape May. Food is very well done, many traditional Italian dishes as well as some original ones. I had the Gnocchi Sorrentina and it was delicious. Salads are good and quite generous. My husband said the clams casino were some of the best he had had (and they were huge!).
Great BYOB in Cape May area. Impeccable service, superior cuisine and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended to us by some friends and now we, in turn, are recommending this neighborhood gem.
I have been there many times. The food is always superb, service impecible.
We were there for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Found it by accident on-line. We were originally going to be seating in the main dinning room. Ended up on the back porch. Was a bit tight. Would have preferred main dinning for special occasion.
Food was terrific. Would come back if in the area but request main dinning room.
This is my second time at this restaurant. The tables are way too close together, the noise level is deafening and the service fair at best. Our waitress never asked if we liked our food, wait time to get food was very long. Food was okay.
The food and service are good. Quarters a little cramped. Parking is sometimes an issue during the summer. Tomatoes were not ripe and if I was having guests for dinner, I wouldn't have served them. Overall a well run establishment with very good food
Alex was a knowledgeable server. He suggested the special entree with scallops, shrimp, crabmeat and orrechi pasta could be made with red sauce...yum! Veal with crabmeat was so tender and tastey. We love Sapore and are always p!eased with taste and va!ue. Very authentic Italian cooking and I'm Italian and cook a lot!
Great food and service! Did not feel rushed and waiter very accommodating.
Our favorite restaurant in Cape May, a town of fabulous restaurants. Food is consistently outstanding and the servers are friendly and efficient. Favorite dishes are veal scaloppini and capellini alla positano.
We enjoyed two different veal dishes, which were generously proportioned. This restaurant has one of the largest dessert menus around.
The food, service and ambiance are always excellent at Sapore. We dine at Sapore often
Sapore is at the top of our list for an excellent Italian restaurant in Cape May. We have eaten here many times and always have a wonderful experience. This past Friday night we ordered fried calamari and grilled calamari for appetizers. I had a creamy pesto sauce for dipping instead of a marinara sauce. Both were so delicious ! We also enjoyed the complimentary cold antipasto served. My entree was a special of the night; bronzino fish in a lemon, butter, caper, white wine, and artichoke sauce over pasta. It was incredible. My husband had penne pasta with steamed calamari in a spicy fradiavalo hot sauce and loved it.
Service is friendly and attentive. We look forward to seeing the staff when we dine here.
Make sure to make reservations. We will go back again next month.
Holiday dinner. Food was good, table a bit small, felt crowded.
