Excellent deserts. Special of the day was also excellent. Remember to take your own wine.
brushetta was packed. Very tasty. The shrimp scampi rosoto was very good and enough for tow. The spaghetti primavera was spicy as advertised and full of flavor. The creme brulee was to die for. Service was spot on, and prices fair for the area. Remember this is a BYOB. Not a tourist trap. Excellent food.
At the recommendation of one of the local shopkeepers we made reservations for our Anniversary. We were greeted by the hostess who wished us a happy anniversary and seated us a a quiet table. The meal was delicious and our server was very attentive . We wod definitely an to go back o our next visit to Cape May. Made reservations with open table .
Consistently excellent food. Enjoyed a lobster ravioli with spinach and scallops special along with a clams casino appetizer. Wife had veal piccata which was also quite good. Reservations necessary here! The word is out about this place and it’s become extremely popular. Highly recommend
Between the location being relatively close to our B welcoming them with a big smile and asking if they had a reservation. They were seated and the hostess returned to the podium, preoccupied again. Finally, we approached the podium to get our table. After we exchanged pleasantries, the one hostess requested details of our reservation (time, name, number of patrons) and then proceeded to leave the podium without saying anything-leaving us to stand there uncertain for another few minutes. She arrived back and requested that we seat outside. Neither my partner nor I enjoy eating outside, we denied the request. Again she moved onto other things without warning. Eventually, fifteen minutes after our entry/reservation time, we were seated. Once seated, our server, fell way below expectations. Her style reminded us of a poorly-trained chain restaurant server. Even unsure of how to serve parmesan cheese properly. The food itself was unimpressive. One of the nice things about going to an Italian restaurant is the table bread and its accompanying spice/herb infused EVOO. The bread was stale and tasted like the generic bread from the supermarket and was served with low quality wrapped butter. The chicken parmesan we ordered tasted of dirty fry oil that hadn't been left to drip off before the chicken was cheesed/ sauced and put in the salamander. The sauce was nice, however we were hoping for homemade pasta. Our largest complaint was the acoustics of the building. The sound in the dining room was unbearably loud, making the evening miserable. Overall horrible experience and would not recommend.
Simply Delicious Food. Lovely server. Love that they take reservations.
Food good, service passable, noise, never take a small table in a room full of large tables. You can’t stand the loud mouths
We love Sappore for what it is, a moderately priced italian place with good food in a relaxing, pretty environment. One thing that would improve the food tremendously is to cook the pasta for less time. The pasta is consistently overcooked based on several visits
Was recommended by a friend, I can see why. Food and service was outstanding. We will be eating here many more times.
We had appetizers of bruschetta and fried calamari. Both were excellent; super fresh and delicious. A complimentary antipasto was also served. Also fresh and delicious. Each member of our party ordered a different entree and we were all very happy with our choices. The food was tasteful and delicious.
We were a party of 5 plus a 2 year old. One of our group was vegan. They were able to accommodate everyone with a delicious meal.
We would definitely go back.
This was our first time to Sapore Italiano. It is a quaint little restaurant in West Cape May. The food was fantastic. The portion sizes are enormous. The service was very good. I would highly recommend anyone to go there. It was a great dining experience.
I haven't had such a wonderful piece of flounder in 25 years. The fish and crab just melted in my mouth. My husband had a seafood mix over spaghetti. I thought he was going to lick his plate. Great food, service and ambiance!
We came here for a beautiful dinner after getting engaged! It was a beautiful night and the server was so sweet and attentive to us and provided an antipasto appetizer. Everyone was so kind and it truly made the night all the more special. Thank you! Everything was delicious.
Wonderful friendly service portions are very large. Great antipasto complimentary to start. Salad, pasta and chicken dishes were all terrific
Freshest food , delicious wanted another plate. Wait staff were very delightful.
We loved everything about this place!! We had eggplant parmigiana and chicken parmigiana and both were delicious and the portions are fairly large. I had enough left to take home. Dessert was also delicious. We didn’t know they were BYOB so they brought each of us a glass of complimentary wine. Our server was excellent, as was the entire staff. We had a table outside (our choice as it was a beautiful evening) and the atmosphere was perfect. We were celebrating our anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place.
My wife and I scheduled a little getaway for a few days to Cape May. Sapore is always at the top of our list as the food is excellent. Our visit this time around did not disappoint.
My wife got the special, Bronzini over angel hair pasta. She said it was the best she's ever had. I had a taste test and concur. I had Jumbo lump crabmeat over pasta. It was fantastic.
Our server, Max was great.
Excellent restaurant a little off the beaten path.
Excellent food and service.. would highly recommend
We were seated right away. Actually a little earlier than our reservation. Both service and food was great!!!
Excellent delicious food! Our waitress gave outstanding service..I could have licked my plate clean!
Excellent Authentic Italian Food. Great menu, and service. Can’t wait to go back!
Perfect place for an early dinner on Mother’s Day. Service and food were excellent. We will recommend to friends and return ourselves.
It was wonderful and interesting food with outstanding service
Awesome! Love this place. Visit every time I am in Cape May!
Sapore was our go to Italian restaurant in Cape May, that was until Saturday. We ordered mussels in red sauce, clams casino and grilled octopus. Mussels and octopus were way overdone. Clams Casino was tasty. Our entree’s were chicken and veal parm and a special. Gnocchis with crab and shrimp. My veal parm was very soggy although my husbands chicken parm was very good. The gnocchis with seafood just didn’t taste fresh. Very fishy smelling and tasting. Will we go back? Maybe but, not soon.
Sat on the front porch—was too cold and damp. They need heaters out there on cold rainy evenings.
We love this restraunt. Food is awesome and service is peaceable. Always friendly.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Cape May area. My husband and I always seem to go for Veal dishes because it is so tender. Best Veal Saltimbuca according to my husband.
This was our first time dining at Sapore. I read positive reviews online, and thought it would be worth a drive to Cape May to celebrate Mother's Day with my fiance. It was perfect! The food was amazing! The waitress was very knowledgable, accomodating. She had great suggestions. The service was timely. The dining room was quaint, cozy...perfect for a dinner date, or for a family dinner. I would definitely recommend Sapore to friends, and we will be back!
The whole evening was very good. The food and service were what matters most and Sapore did a fine job with both. The food was prepared well and the antipasti plate was a nice start to a delicious dinner. We will make sure to stop there again when we are in Cape May.
For an Italian restaurant the sauce should not taste like Ragu.
The food was good but over priced. The bread was just awful as I read in other reviews. I cant understand why any restaurant would not fix such a simple thing after receiving feedback from so many customers.
We love this restaurant. The food is always exceptional. Staff are all very friendly and eager to ensure a great dining experience for the guests. One of our favorite restaurants in Cape May!
The four of us each had a different selection, three veal entrees and one pasta. We started by splitting two salads between us and the servings were large and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their main course and we all took some home (large servings).
First time there and sorry we hadn't tried it before. We will definitely be returning.
We love going to Cape May. We decided to try a restaurant that we’ve never been to and the reviews are Yelp were all favorable. They start you off with a free antipasto with mozzarella and tomatoes. I ordered the rack of lamb which was not a rack. I was disappointed because the ribs were very thin. I prefer when they serve the nice thick double cut ribs! My husband ordered the chicken cacciatore. The portion was large but the dish was not what he expected and he was disappointed as well!
Professional!!!! Waiter to the staff.
I will be back Memorial Day weekend.
This is one of our “go to” places. The food and service are always exceptional. This one of the very best restaurants in the Cape May area. We just came back from our winter vacation in Florida and couldn’t wait to visit again.
Even in a foodie spot like Cape May, Sapore Italiano is our favorite place in town. Excellent dining, great service, very reasonably priced.
A great place for classic Italian dishes. Situated in an old house in West Cape May, it's the perfect setting for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. They bring a nice antipasti sampling dish out with the bread. We started with the clams casino and calamari fritti and both were outstanding. A good fry on the calamari and the clams were so tasty. For entrees we had the veal parm and the lasagna and were not disappointed. Hearty portions on both. Attentive and professional service throughout the evening, and it's BYOB. Prices very fair considering quality of food and portion size. We will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Cape May.
