Sapore Italiano is a relaxed Italian eatery known for its tasty bread and hearty cuisine. The restaurant serves everything, from pizzas and salads, to veal scaloppine Marsala and tiger prawns with a basil and white wine sauce.
Try Sapore Italiano's homemade meat lasagna or signature insalata Sapore with greens, chicken breast, raisins and sliced apples in a balsamic vinaigrette for lunch. Sapore Italiano's dinner menu includes irresistible antipasti like carpaccio Veneto with raw beef, shaved Parmesan, arugula, Dijon mustard, olive oil and lemon. The restaurant's rigatoni with ground sausage and vegetarian pizza are both standout dishes. A large wine list includes a nice variety of Italian and Californian wines. Sapore Italiano also serves gluten-free and whole wheat pastas.
Great food and service.
I made reservations on Valentine’s Day and the place was so packed and crowded that I couldn’t even get through the crowd to check in. It was madness. Poor operational planning on the restaurant’s end. Don’t allow people to make reservations when your restaurant can’t handle it, totally defeats the purpose.
Excellent Food. Loved my arugula salad with Shaved fennel, oranges and champagne dressing. Because it was Valentine's day...it was packed and noisy. Also generous but unusual they were not serving dessert just giving free tiramisu to go. It would have been nice to sit, talk be romantic...but I understand they were trying to get as many people in as possible. We were out in 45 minutes.
Food was delicious!!
One of our most favorite restaurants! Always excellent, we’ve never been disappointed! We went for an early Valentines Day dinner and it was the best ever! Thank you Sapore for always being spot on!
Great meal. Best Rustica I have ever had.
Will return for sure
Great food, fast and friendly service and a charming atmosphere. An overall wonderful dining experience for me and my team!!
Good meal which we would try again.
The food was really really great! Will go back here many times!
After posting a sub-par comment of my experience in January, the owner of Sapore immediately contacted me and apologized for the experience I had and offered us to come back for a complimentary dinner. We spoke and he fully explained what happened. I appreciated the learning curve he was experiencing with his new help.
I revisited the restaurant with my wife this time and met the owner. Our experience was so much better this time. The service was extremely good, the food was excellent. My wife had the salmon and I had the prawns. Both were sensational and were generous portions too. I will leave what I first wrote below, but want to share that the owner and his team were so kind to make up for the bad experience and this has definitely changed our mind about Sapore.
Haven't been to Sapore for a few years. When we came in and asked for our reserved table we had 3 (not 2; 1 would suffice) people ask us if we wished to be seated. Yes, sounds nice, but it was evident there was very poor communication among the staff. When we sat down we initially had 2 people ask us if we wanted something to drink. What was troublesome, again, is no one knew what the other was doing. Finally we had multiple staff ask us for our orders. C'mon!
My dish was "okay". Linguine Vongole, not much to criticize. Pasta was fine but really no spices. Many tiny little clams and some broken shells as if they were dumped into the dish first, and then the pasta.
Finally, what really annoyed me was as the dinner time got more crowded ( we had a 515-520pm seating) another person, not any of the 3 waiters we encountered, came to drop the bill on our table. No request for dessert! Sorry, this was truly insulting. Would love the manager to see and respond!
One of the best Italian restaurants on the Peninsula!
Post holiday celebration
Husband’s Birthday celebration was delicious & friendly environment with best slice of lemon birthday cake!
Great food and great waiter. We had 7:00pm reservations, we arrived on time and we were seated right away. What better service!!
Daughter s BD
everything WAS VERY GOOD. The only thing that bothered me was that we were seated at the very last table next to the kitchen with a view of the 2 back tables that weren't cleaned up. Not the most wonderful view....but will be back
Always good food you can count on.
Been eating there for over 18 years....one of the best places in Burlingame, Elio the owner is a trus friend and great man.....the staff all know me and my wife (whole family also)....I will continue to eat at Sapore until I'm dead and buried...:)
Delicious dinner & good service
This was my first time dining here, but it will not be my last! My son and I celebrated Christmas Eve here. The food was delicious and the service was good. Angie was the perfect host and made sure we were well taken care of! It was beautifully decorated for the holidays which made for great ambience. It was a bit noisy but that wouldn’t keep me from going again!
Food is always good. They can get packed so make a reservation.
Always a good time....we closed the place and never mentioned a word to wrap it up.
I have eaten at Sapore on two occasions before and it was pretty good. This last visit I had a fish dish that I was not happy with. Some of the scale/skin was left on the fish and there were bones as well that I had to try to pick around. I do not want to have to deal with that in the event I accidentally swallow any and getting them stuck in my throat.
Noise level was beyond manageable. We had sore throats from having to practically yell within our party of four! I asked twice for oregano and it never arrived. Food was good but not great.
Delicious food and great service! Always love coming here.
Comments from owner and waitress that they were quite busy!
You don’t tell customers that are excited to come to your restaurant this!
It’s the holidays! What would one expect!!
Food delicious but not hot
Everything about the restaurant is just fine - food, service, atmosphere, and when we went (outside of busy hours) it was quiet, one of my top criteria for a restaurant. Not too many vegetarian options and almost nothing vegan.
As first timers at this restaurant, it was a pleasant gastronomic experience!! The food was excellent and the bread was perfect. The waitress Julia was exceptional!! Will be back for sure!!
Always great. Owners love the customer. Always feel welcome and known. Truly a cozy environment and delicious food. Salmon superb. Ps get new printed menus.
We were looking for a place to have an Italian dinner and found this restaurant thru Open Table.
The food was great, but it was difficult to enjoy the meal with my family as the restaurant was quite noisy. We were sat in the back where the door was kept open so there was a chilly draft. Our server lacked presents. Examples are handing appetizers to someone in our party, when it should have been placed In center for the entire table and we had to repeat ourselves multiple times when talking to her at times which was frustrating. She lacked common sense.
This is our go to place for Italian comfort food. Their pastas are excellent, among the best in our area. The fish is always excellent and the Rigatoni Rustica is unmatched anywhere. The servers are fast, competent and friendly.
I recently took clients to celebrate a home purchase. Sapore is always THE place. Food, service and ambiance - excellent!
The best italian food in the bay area! No exaggeration
Great food! Wonderful pastas and other dishes. Very generous pours on the booze. Helpful wait staff. I’d come back!
Excellent salmon, lovely setting, great salads, would return again.
The food is delicious and our service was very good... For a local neighborhood restaurant - it is truly a joy!
Also, reasonably priced....
We always enjoy this restaurant whether we go as a couple or with a family group or with friends -- Good food, pleasant service, relaxing location.
We went on a week night. The ambiance was pretty bland - maybe because it wasn't quite dark yet and the place was not too busy that the decor was so obvious. It could use more festive decor. The food was good, but not great. I feel the caesar salad had too much dressing. The chicken took too long to cook. It took a while to get the food as a result. The kids pasta was not that kid friendly - too many big chunks of tomato versus a puree. Service was very attentive and friendly. Prices were high given I was not impressed with food or ambiance.
Good food served quickly in a place run by Italians.
We had gone to Sapore a month or two before and had some sort of prepared dish and a pizza. The prepared dish was amazingly good and the pizza was B-.
Took two friends there Friday last, and it was excellent (no pizza this time).
I had a sautee'd fish and two had the prawns. Everyone was happy.
The waitress (and her minion) were efficient and unobtrusive.
I had an affogato for desert and was happy. Four dinner w desert and one glass of wine at a good price.
