Santorini Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This is a secret gem! Always consistent with best service and food! Order the Greek wines, Mezzo Platter, Vegetable Platter and you cannot go wrong. The Calzones, Greek Salad and Kabobs are the best in the East Bay. Authentic and high quality food. We frequent this place regularly with family and friends and everyone always raves about it. Never had a bad experience.
If you want good Greek food where the service is friendly and prices are reasonable, give the Santorini Restaurant in Danville a try. The Pomegranate Chicken and the Lamb Shank are great choices with the former being the restaurant's signature entrée. There are many choices for families to choose. The rest of the party I went there with had the lamb shish-ka-bob and they said it was delicious. I will certainly return for another dinner outing.
Started off okay. Was greeted by the staff and sat us at a table outside. Took our drink and appetizer order.
However after close to 30 mins of no attention from our server, I was fed up and decided to leave. I mean he never came back to our table for our actual dinner order. What a joke!
We enjoy the staff, the food, the atmosphere, and the wine. This is a great find in Danville if you want to eat a gyro platter and Greek Salad or indulge in a full trout or lamb shank at very reasonable prices. We go there often! I almost forgot, my husband's favorite is the flatbread and dip. We always get seconds.
Wonderful food, wine and service! This is our favorite place to have dinner in Danville. The Greek red wine "Georges" (spelling?) was fabulous as well as the Septum Greek beer my husband ordered. We always get the Combination Platter and/or the Green Garden Platter before our meal. Served with their delicious Greek bread and fresh olive oil - the best I have ever had. I do love it when it has some crisp to it. My son always loves their Calzone where the rest of us get Salads with kabobs! I cannot say enough about the consistency, high quality fresh food they serve.
Nice place, it was the middle of the week and their weren't a lot of patrons. Service was good and friendly. Sadly though, we were told they were out of Gyro meat. We started with the sampler appetizer, Dolmas were amazing, Hummus was fresh and very tasty, Babaganoush was flavorful, but the Tabouleh was truly the best. My entree was the Mousaka, it was very good. My wife had the Lamb kabob, ordered Medium. It was cooked correctly, but was very dry and there was either little to no seasoning of the meat, so it was disappointing. We will try Santorini again.
Was there on Father's Day with my family. Never has the service been so poor. Three people ordered the lamb but it came out about 15-20 minutes after everyone else had been served. After that the waiter disappeared for what seemed like an hour. No one refilled our water glasses or checked on us for quite some time. While the food was good overall the service really was disappointing
The Greek cuisine at Santorini is as good as it gets. We all enjoyed the Mediterranean platter of Dolmas, Hummus, Falafel and Baba Ghanoush. The chicken, lamb and chopped beef kabobs were both moist and delicious. The dessert of tropical sorbets in a white chocolate coating was outstanding. This restaurant is REALLY GOOD.
We went with my friend there for an early lunch and had their Lunch special #3, which includes fresh Caesar salad, beef/lamb Gyros and grilled chicken with very yummy sauce. The size of the portion is perfect - just enough to fully satisfy your hunger and not overeat.
Will definitely go there again!
If I could give service negative stars I would. I ordered grilled fish with lemon caper sauce that came with seasonal veges and salad. The first time around the fish came fried with only salad and no seasonal veges in sight.
When I told the waitress she apologized, however, she got the grilled fish with neither the sauce nor the sides it came with. When I asked for it, she took 20mins and all she got was a small bowl of dry capers?! Where did the sauce go? Where did the sides go? The piece of grilled fish had gone cold by then with neither sauce or veges to be seen. I had to return it and was too angry to stay for another round of incompetency!!!
Such a tragic end to my relaxing lunch!!!
The food is fine and plentiful, and the service is super friendly and not rushed at all, but there is a fine line between not rushed and incredibly slow. Ten minutes to get the wine. Two wines are the wrong ones. Another ten minutes to get those corrected. Once able to place the food order it came pretty quickly. Combination appetizer platter was good. Salmon was a hit as was the chicken kabob with spinach salad.
If yes, try the combination appetizer platter- best baba ganoush ever(!) The hummus, grape leaves and tabouleh... all went perfectly with the warm bread too ! For dinner, the moussaka and chicken kabobs were very tasty...hats off to the chef.... and while the pizza crust could have been a little crunchier, the taste of the toppings was good. The atmosphere is casual, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating but a reservation would be a good idea on a weekend night. We were greeted and served by extremely welcoming, polite and professional staff. We'll definitely be going back!
We got engaged on the island of Santorini, so when I saw this restaurant I thought it would be perfect for a romantic Valentine's Day celebration. The positive reviews were encouraging, so I booked a table.
The place was very busy, but the staff handled everything with aplomb, remaining very friendly and gracious.
As others have noted the pocket bread and dipping sauce is fantastic. Off to a good start, along with a bottle of Santorini wine (although it pains me to spend $40 for any Greek wine---as a Greek once told me, "Greek wine is cheap--there's no need to pay more than $10 for a bottle. If you want to spend $20, buy two bottles"). Oh well, we're pretty far from the Aegean.
They had a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. We chose the mezza platter as a starter, which was fantastic. My bride chose the filet kabob (reinforcement of the other review about an identity crisis), which was mediocre, with flavors more of Afghan than Aegean. I had the braised lamb shank, which was quite nice. For dessert, my sweetie had a wonderful cappuccino ice cream bomb and I went with the baklava.
The combination appetizer was practically a meal in itself with the humous being very creamy and delicious. My wife did not care so much for the dolmas. The mashed potatoes were too salty for me. They came with the musaka which was fine. My wife has a chocolate tarfuro (sp) that was incredible! Will return!
This restaurant has a serious identity crisis. They need to figure out what kind of food they serve. Pasta, pizza, Iranian food, Greek food... They label the restaurant as Mediteranan; newsflash people, Iran is in the Middle East, not Mediteranean. The service was slow, and the kabobs were marginal at best. The filet was cooked bone dry, and the rice was loaded with butter. When they brought the plates to the table, the rice was shiny, it was so greasy.
The only good thing was the freh baked bread they serve at the beginning, and the dip. Although I wish they would use a better quality olive oil in the dip. The staff was very friendly and nice. The food was pricey, for the quality. Would not recommend, or go back.
We struck out quite by chance to Santorinis and found it to be a VERY pleasant surprise. The wine, although no-name and inexpensive, was wonderful. The greek specialties (especially the Moussaka) were delicious. Don't waste your time on the flatbread pizza, but the rest of the fare was super. we'll go back here weekly, i suspect!
We went here for my birthday and we were a party of 11. We ordered our dolmas and hummus and they were delicious. The first plate of pita bread were not warm and they were crunchy and black on the edges. We asked for more as there was a lot of hummus and the nex batch was warm, not burnt and soft? Much better. 3 people in our party ordered rack of lamb.. 2 had 7 pieces and one order had 6? 3 orders of filet mug on kebabs.. One medium well, two medium... All were well done... Too done... These were the bad parts of the evening.. Otherwise delicious trout, moussaka and appetizers for the most part.
I love mediterranean food, am not a meat eater and was dining with three others who were not very familiar with mediterranean and are meat eaters. Santorini had something for everyone. The combination appetizer platter was perfect for four. The hummus and baba ganjou were some of the best I've had. Our table ordered a chicken dish, pasta dish, two salads, one with a beautiful piece of grilled salmon. Everyone was pleased and agreed would return again. The restaurant is in a corner location of a shopping center with patio seating. It was a beautiful night and we chose an outdoor table and it was perfect. The service was excellent. The servers were attentive, but not intrusive. Would definitely go back.
We've been to Santorini more than a few times, but the first time was the big surprise for a restaurant tucked into a shopping center. The food is amazing, and plated beautifully. The entire staff makes you feel like family. We come with our family, and three grandchildren, ages 12, 15 and 17.
They are adventourous eaters, and world travelers, but there are always couples and other family groups dining there. It always feels like you are dining in a European restaurant, and when you first enter, the smells are calling to sit down and enjoy a few relaxing hours with nothing else to think about. Danville has so many wonderful restaurants, and Santorini certainly belongs in the mix.
