About Santorini Greek Taverna
For over twenty years, Santorini Greek Taverna has represented the best in Calgary’s Greek cuisine.
Santorini was founded on the Greek values of filoxenia; literally the notion of befriending strangers. Thus, as all guests to Santorini quickly realize, they are immediately made part of the family, whether laughing with host Maria’s comedic personality or joining in on an uplifting Greek dance.
While other Greek restaurants have attempted to reinvent a good thing, Santorini continues to offer the classic, authentic tastes of Greece in a welcoming, Mediterranean setting.
With over 40 Greek dishes, it promises an unforgettable experience.
At Santorini, every day is a celebration!

Santorini Greek Taverna Ratings and Reviews
Santorini’s quality & service has really declined over the past few years, Though they’ve never been a “fancy” restaurant, their staff always treated you as if it was. Not this time around.
We entered the restaurant after making a reservation hours earlier for a birthday dinner/date night. There were three tables occupied - one of which was a loud, extended family - which for some reason we were seated immediately next to. There was a wailing infant on a chair less than two feet away from us, and we were close enough to the family that we could have easily joined into their conversation had we wanted to. This was not the intimate date night we had planned for, so I asked if we could move to the two-top just behind us. The host who sat us said no, because if they had a party of six come in that evening, they’d need to join the two top with the adjacent four-top. I can see the logic in that, but considering the restaurant was almost empty & that we had gone to the effort to reserve a table where this potential six-top had not, good customer service would dictate that it would be worth accommodating our reasonable request. He again said we could not move. Then, after reluctantly taking our assigned spots, our server came back with water and she said we could move. Which was appreciated, but the effort it took to get to that conclusion seemed unnecessary.
Our server, while accommodating enough, hardly spoke, no specials or anything were mentioned. Her appearance was disheveled, with a wrinkled and untucked shirt. There was no wine service, the white was left on the table without an ice bucket. We ordered the saganaki and were confused when she brought it out to us already sizzling. I guess they don’t do the flambé at the table anymore? The meal was alright. “Veggies” on the side consisted of what I’m assuming were frozen green beans with the odd chunk of carrot.
For the price point, it was all pretty disappointing. Won’t be back for awhile.
We had a lovely, evening. The food was great and service was perfect. The waiter was friendly and very respectful of our desire for a leasurely evening. Allowing us to enjoy our time together. He timed the food to give us time to talk and enjoy our wine. A favourite fun restaurant
Had a craving for lamb. Booked a table just in time as it was super busy that evening. The octopus was tender and delicious. Had to wait a while for my lamb rack and my partners moussaka. But they were both delicious. Lamb was perfect for me - medium well with hardly any pink and very tender. The potato was also tender and tasty.
We sat on the patio on a nice day, and it was busy! The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed through no fault of their own (kitchen injury with a server) but they worked very hard to ensure everybody was kept happy.
FOOD WAS AMAZING. The dolmades alone were so good we ordered some to go. Moussaka was delicious. Everything tasted homemade. It is definitely pricier, but the food.... so good!
We picked Santorini as we wanted Greek food. We were seated upstairs, tables are close together but not the worst I've been to. Food quality was good but very overpriced in my opinion. $25.00 for chicken souvlaki...one skewer, a scoop of rice, a small portion of veggies and 3 potato wedges. Seriously, you get more for 10 bucks at Opa and the quality isn't far off. Others had salads, lots of fresh veggies but smallish portions. Soup and spanakopita was very good.
Very good quality but overpriced.
I have been looking for a great greek restaurant since moving to Calgary and have found most places lacking. Not Santorini! Their food is fantastic! My husband and I enjoyed their 'eat like a Greek' meal and every course was better then the last. Service was impeccable and comfortable! All around a great evening! We will be back.
