Came here after a long and tiring weekend and needed a nice meal and some wine. It hit all the right spots. We absolutely loved this place from its super cute interior to our excellent waiter to the incredible meal. We tried the octopus, raw oysters, and scallops and were not disappointed. We will absolutely be back!
Very good attitude with the staff and reception And good Red Snapper
Good food and great service.
One of the most pleasant dining rooms in Chicago. Almost always good service. Greek classics and some innovative twists.
Old world charm in the heart of Chicago... Great food, wine list & service...
They have safety issues with some steps in the restaurant. People are tripping over steps. They are aware of the problem, yet are doing nothing to address it.
Excellent all around, fish is amazing.
The best Greek restaurant we went to in Greek town.
Great restaurant, great food! Tuna steak was delicious! Very recommended!!
Food was solid, service was good. Loved the fireplace smell when walking in on a chili, rainy night. Decor could use a bit of an update but otherwise, a good, casual place for a Greektown meal.
Very nice spot with better than usual Greek food.Calamari ad fresh fish outstanding
We had a big Greek dinner for my big Greek family! It was a blast, everyone enjoyed the dolmades & saganaki for appetizers. The BBQ lamb & sampler platter were among the stars of the dinner course. Everyone had a blast & it reminded us of dinners at our great grandmother's house growing up! Brought out the Spartan spirit for sure!
Excellent food and service. The seafood was all prepared exceptionally well and the house cocktails were a nice touch.
Love Santorini for decades. Fresh delicious food. Always consistently yummy
Great Greek food at a reasonable price. Service is prompt and friendly. They have interesting and good shrimp dishes.
It was delicious as always
Great atmosphere, great food and great staff
As expected, very good. Post-lunch gave us time to have a quiet conversation. Server understood this and attended to us without hovering.
Huge portions, good food, poor service
Good dining experience but bathrooms were disgusting
Have enjoyed Santorini's in the past but this visit was a bit of a letdown. Our table was up front, in the corner ... comfortable and quiet enough for easy conversation. Our waiter showed up and ran through some recommendations so quickly we couldn't understand him. My Hillas beer showed up quickly. The bread was warm and fresh. I had the Shrimp de Jonghe which was tasty. (I asked the waiter if he knew of another shrimp dish that I couldn't find in the seafood listing; he said that was it. Subsequently, I found the dish in the pasta section ... Porto-Hydra. Would have really liked that but I guess my communication skills weren't too good). Some of the roast potatoes were fine, other tasted and chewed like they were three days old. My wife ordered the walleye pike and enjoyed it.
When it came time for dessert, she had the creme caramel and I ordered lemon sorbet. The sorbet was frozen so solid an axe wouldn't split it ... had to have been in the freezer a long time. (The waiter didn't charge us after we complained).
The food was generally very good except for the stale/over cooked potatoes and the ridiculous sorbet. The valet parking was quick and convenient. The waiter, though efficient, was quite brusque and seemed generally disinterested. May have just been an off night but with so many good Greek restaurants in the area, Santorini's should be more attentive to their guests.
I really enjoy Greek food and eat it whenever I can. Santorini was Reccomended by a friend so I tried it. I was disappointed in the quality of the Octopus - it did not taste fresh, and I know Greek style octopus.
The whole fish was deboned table side and the server did not do a great job in that it took him a very long time to try and make sure he'd gotten all of the bones and as a result the food was barely warm by the time it was served.
Perhaps it was an off night, but I'd really need a reason to give it another try.
Eight of us went to lunch at Santorini to welcome a new colleague to our company. I picked this place because it is a short distance from our Union Station office and offers great food and service with a decibel level suitable for a business lunch. You can't get that in the loop. Outstanding octopus dishes and a nice Mediterranean ambiance.
The food was great, as usual. Our server “up-sold” us on the grilled fish special. I specifically requested a single serving of the grilled sea bass that was offered that night at $30. When the check arrived, I was surprised that the sea bass was listed at over $50. I questioned the server about the charge and he just shrugged his shoulders and said “there are two of you”. We’ve been dining at santorini for over 20 years and it is our first choice for grilled fish - or it was our first choice. Too bad that this experience has changed our opinion of the restaurant.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service!
I eat here a lot. It's my favorite in Greektown.Spreads and bread and soup are all great. Kabobs including swordfish kabob are very good.I haven"t had fried calamari in a while but it used to be good. Their market priced fish are very good but whitefish is not. Fireplace makes for really nice atmosphere.
We totally enjoyed Santorini Greek Restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food and wine were outstanding. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great meal.
Great service and food
Do not go here if you have any dietary restrictions
We always have a wonderful experience at Santorini. It's a very welcoming, cheerful atmosphere with a crackling fireplace and delicious wood-fired seafood. In particular, the shrimp tourkolimano, charcoal-grilled octopus and whole-fish plates are not to be missed. Greek wines are delicious, food-friendly and very affordable. We'll be back again and again!
Lousy Restaurant. The food was below average and the service was terrible. Better places in town.
A delicious meal. My friend and I shared the whole red snapper. It was fileted perfectly and we only found a few very small bones. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Lamb kebab tasted sour due to marinade or it was bad meat. Grilled octopus tasted like elastic and not well cooked. I would not eat there for lunch again, ever.
Pleasant spacious restaurant that our whole family enjoyed.
Food overly salty.
Service was first class!
Would be great if the server could separate the checks when there are 6 or more. Most people dont care to pay for others drinks and desserts. Many restaurants are doing this now as a courtesy.
We appreciated dessert on the house and it was special!
I recommended Santorini to this group and I will do so again.
Free valet is a plus in deep winter!
Happy and fun place to dine. Service was incredible and food was delicious!!!’ Loved she red snapper and Greek salad!!! Sorbets were a hit too. Again, for a casual place, the service was amazing and uplifting!!!
Everything about this place was mediocre. Not bad but better choices in Greek town
So disappointing! It has been a while since I have been to Santorini and it will definitely be a while until I return. The food was subpar and definitely not worth the price. There were three of us and out of the three only the person that ordered the lamb chops thought the dinner was good. The taramosalata was the worst I have had in greek town. It was gummy and definitely not fresh. The tirokafteri was ok, but not worth going back for. We also ordered gyros and vegetable moussaka. The gyros was ok, not great. The fries that came with the gyros seemed like they had been sitting in a pan all day and just thrown on the plate. The vegetable moussaka had not flavor at all, except for the sauce on top. It seems to have been frozen for a while and then reheated.
The lamb chops were superb and the portohydro was excellent! Loved the grilled octopus appetizer and the fish roe cold spread. Forta was our server and he was knowledgeable and attentive. We will request his service again.
