Santorini Ratings and Reviews
Always a fun time and very good greek food.
You just have to get the Sagnaki Opa where they flame the cheese at your table...... OPA!!!!
Their Beef Kabobs are awesome as are the Lamb Chops. And they flambe' the Creme Brule for dessert right at your table.
Nice wine list from all over the world but I get a Greek Wine because so few places have one and it goes with the food
Service from our waitress Alore was awesome. She has great customer service skills. You will be lucky if you get her...or beat the odds and ask if she is working and if so beg to get in her section. But to be fair, I have been here multiple times and always had great and friendly service from everyone.
Anything goes dress code wise from casual to classy...just don't dress like a slob and you'll fit in.
Our favorite in Greektown and love that they take RSVPs instead of making you wait for an hour in the street or a cramped lobby like the other places down the street do.
Our server was excellent. The food was very good. I think the atmosphere could be stepped up a bit, it's a huge space with a bunch of tables and booths, not very 'Greektown' feeling to me, IMHO. Also, I though the flaming cheese could have been better, it was still a bit hard.
While visiting Detroit we reserved a table at Santorini. We chose to eat outdoors because the weather was so nice, not realizing that we would be sitting in the street while traffic whizzed by. Our bad choice and the table was not just wobbly, but nearly broken so we changed to another. The waitress was very nice, but the place is so understaffed that she was unable to provide us with good service. Our meals arrived and instead of asking if we wanted another drink she had to attend to the table next to us because their order was wrong. No one came to see us to ask if everything was ok and if we wanted anything else. The woman next to us got her meal, but her husband didn't get his until she was finished. When we finally saw the waitress again we were nearly finished and the glass of wine we'd liked to have had with our meal was an afterthought.
The food - the dips were fine - tzatziki was tasty as was the hummus, but the eggplant was tasteless and needed salt (which was hard to come by). The moussaka was obviously pre-frozen (every piece looked exactly alike) and not too tasty. My salad that was supposed to be filled with delicious grilled chicken, beans, cheeses, nuts was really just lots of lettuce with dried up chicken and almost no dressing. Inedible. Against our better judgment baklava was ordered and it too was tasteless and dry.
This places shouts TOURIST TRAP and we should have known better. I almost never give a bad review, knowing that any place can have a bad night, but when the food is so terrible I feel I have no choice. This was not a case of a bad night, but terrible management and a lack of caring about what kind of food is served.
I enjoy this restaurant. The decor is fresh and relaxing, and the food is good. The portions are very generous for many dishes. The only thing I don't like about Santorini is the noise level. Even when there are only a few tables in use, it's loud enough to make conversations challenging.
25th wedding anniversary. Had reservations, was sat at table next to very loud women who had way too much to drink. Moved table and while discussing drink order with waitress, she turned and said She was going to help table beside us and come back. Appetizers ok, ordered red snapper special. Was not fully cooked and tasteless. Such a disappointment on our very special day.
We tried many of the Greek specialties (lamb chops, lamb shank, gyros, kebob, spinach pie, lemon chicken). All were excellent except spinach pie a little too salty. Very fast and attentive service. It wasn’t at all busy on a Sunday night after both a Tigers and Luons home game. Noise level was quite loud given the restaurant was only 1/3 full.
We were trying to choose between a different Greek Restaurant that we were more familiar with but chose this because it was new and different. The drinks were fabulous as well as the food although it is a little pricey, I feel the atmosphere made up for it. Definitely recommend.
Haven't been to Greek Town in many years. The area is bustling and it was fun being a part of it. Santorini's was just what we hoped for. Good and plentiful food, very attentive and accommodating service. We were there for an early dinner and it was all around good. Very satisfied.
My family and I had dinner here the night after my sister's wedding as a way to wind down from the weekend. Our food was very good and our service was decent for the most part.
I took off a couple stars for service because there was an incident that while handled fairly well for the most part, I was somewhat disappointed in. While bringing out a bottle of wine and new wine glasses, the server accidentally knocked over the bottle of wine, shattered a few wine glasses and my aunt's martini glass and sent glass flying across the table. I was impressed with how quickly management came over immediately, switched out tables and cleaned up the glass on the floor. We weren't terribly upset about the incident, however, once our bill came, I was somewhat surprised that there was no discount on our appetizers or removal of an entree, etc. As a server in my past life, I would have expected some sort of acknowledgement from the restaurant for this incident which I felt my family and I were extremely understanding of. Also, the server was young and instead of just apologizing and moving on, we got a full story of how she got three hours of sleep and her entire day has been sort of off and that she broke a glass and her phone earlier. She was very nice, but we didn't need to hear all of that.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal and were able to converse with each other. I would go back.
Despite having reservations and being early we had extremely slow service. They were severely understaffed. Our waitress was very open about the situation and apologetic. We were patient although we had a show to go to. The food...my husband ordered the steak and it was disgusting. The presentation was offensive. The only thing that was edible was the tzaziki. Our meals were just offensive. I cannot believe that this was our experience at this high end Greek restaurant.
We never got to try the food here. We left after waiting for 25 minutes for someone to take our order, since we would have missed the event we were attending afterward. They were seriously understaffed--hopefully this is not a common problem at this restaurant but we don't know.
My wife and I ate there before the U2 concert. I recommend reservations thru open Table. It was busy after a Tigers game. We were in the booth by the bathroom and kitchen. Lots of foot traffic. Waiters had kiosk next to booth. Our waiter was friendly in the beginning and made suggestions, but after we got our food never checked on us. Never asked for more drinks. We finally saw him and asked for check to leave. We had the lamb chop and shrimp Combo- 2 lamb chops and 3 shrimp. There were green beans and mashed potato. Food was good. Not Great. Not something that I would travel two hours to eat great anyway. Price was decent. Portions small on the lamb chops. Restaurant was clean and good atmosphere.
We had an early dinner before a concert at Chene Park. The weather was perfect to sit outdoors. We started with a carafe of sangria and an order of saganaki. Opa! For dinner we had lamb and the combination plate. The food was just as good as my Greek grandmothers and the portions were plentiful. Erik, server was very knowledgeable. The service was wonderful. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing, delicious meal. We stopped by after the concert for dessert and a glass of retsina.
