Santorini's menu boasts a wide variety of traditional Greek dishes, wines and cocktails. The goal is to reintroduce customers to Greek food with a mix of well-known facorites and specialty dishes that many people can only find in Greece.
The entire look and feel of the restaurant has been designed to make customers feel like they have been transplanted to an island in Greece.
Friday & Saturday: 11am-2 am
Can’t believe the place was closed for remolding and yet you took the reservations. Really great to be a stranger in city, dropped off by a cab and left stranded.
The restaurant was closed for renovation. We called few times and the message indicate that they are open for business and to leave a message.
First, no mention of the restaurant is closed and after we arrived, the signs on the windows. We were very disappointed.
They should have stated on the answering machine about their renovation and the restaurant is closed blah blah ...
Booked a table for four people a week in advance. We were so excited. When we got there, all dressed up, we saw signs stating that they were closed for renovations.
Accepted reservation. But restaurant was closed for repairs. Had a good traveling and poof had to make immediate change of plans.
Very disappointed in either the restaurant or open table.
Food was very good, however, all 4 of us thought we were rushed beyond compare. Our waiter Aldo was very good, but we ordered our appetizer and meal at the same time and we received all of our food within 15 minutes. What was supposed to be a leisurely meal with friends turned out to be rushed escapade. It was also very noisy.
The food was spiced perfectly and was served quickly. This was a fantastic place to go before walking over to the Oprra House.
Second time in 2 months that I was in Detroit and had dinner here. Food is excellent! I’ll be back for a third time next time I’m in Detroit!
Excellent service and delicious food! We had a great time and would return again.
Went there on my wedding night. The food was amazing, and had awesome service.
We went to Santorini a few years ago and I didn’t think the food was authentic nor very good overall. But the service was excellent.
Hopefully just a bad night, but service was very slow, meat was overcooked, beans were cold. They redid the order but was not impressed.
Was seated at a table with a glass of tea on it. Asked to be seated at a clean table and was told the table was clean and they would we it for me. Watched this repeatedly at tables attend us. Our waiter was very personable and the food was excellent. Wondering if hostess would have wanted to sit at a table with the last guest food still on it.
I don’t often leave reviews, I work in the industry so, I understand that things happen and people have off days. BUT it was a LOT.
We were given bread and sat and sat and SAT. And waited, and waited and WAITED. When our server came to the table it was as if he was in a hurry. We ordered our appetizers and after they arrived there was no follow up AT ALL. He had the table to my left, and checked back with them quite a bit. We were given more attention by the support staff than our actual server. (Not a bad thing- I was glad SOMEONE was paying attention to us.
I fought the urge to get up and look for him, because who wants to be that person (people in the industry will know what I’m saying).... but, I felt like I was a bother. After our appetizers were cleared we waited.... and waited and waited AGAIN. When he did come back, he seemed surprised that we wanted to order sandwiches. Come to think of it, he wasn’t even the one who dropped check or picked it up...... he really must have been busy. ( this was before the dinner rush, not during- we were able to get out of work early and dine before our reservation)
My experience, this time wont detour me from returning, just maybe I’ll say something next time. I love Santorini!
The good part was that the food tasted good. That is the sole reason for the overall 2 star review, and the end of the good things to review.
The bad part, first my wife and I picked this restaurant because their website says they have daily lunch specials, and happy hour until 3pm. Neither of those is a thing anymore. Apparently the previous management decided to nix those to simplify operations for the kitchen, but decided it wasn't worth updating the website.
Second, when management has to simplify things for the kitchen, the restaurant has kitchen problems. Our food took nearly an hour to come out. My party was about to get up and walk out when our waiter finally brought the food out after about 55 minutes. Nothing we ordered was special, one regular gyro, two chicken gyro's, and a burger.
Third, the wait staff was lousy. We had 3 different waiters come to our table in the 10 minutes after we sat down, ask "Have you been helped yet" - we had been seated by the hostess - then proceed to ignore us. Throughout the hour we waited for our food to come out, we had to ask three times for ice before we received it.
I've had poor service before at Santorini, but after this time I won't be coming back.
Santorini is a Greek restaurant in Detroit's Greektown area. There are other, older Greek restaurants in the area, but Santorini became our new go-to spot after just one dinner! The braised lamb with rice was perfect -- a huge portion and less expensive than the other Greek place we used to go to down the block.
We tried the Saganaki Feta which was amazing! Soft, warm feta wrapped in phyllo dough, baked and drizzled with honey. Sooooo good!!
If you're craving Greek, you have to check out Santorini!
My sister and I arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation and they sat us right away - they are very accommodating in that sense. We both enjoyed our meals and the doors were all open so there was great people watching during dinner.
It was just ok! Nothing wow! Just ok and the drink was nothing to talk about just the cost of them was way to high! I been there I done that don’t have to do it again!
Based on the reviews I expected more. The place was fairly empty, the waitstaff was nice and pleasant, the food was good but I didn't think it fully represented Greek food. I ordered the Shrimp and Lamb chops. The shrimp was done well and the lamb was good, green beans and rice were so overcooked, overall it was okay. I've had better Greek food at other restaurants across the country. I was just expecting more based on the reviews. I would not discourage anyone from coming here, I just want to set the expectations.
One of the best Greek food I have ever had. Very reasonable price. Lovely place.
The manger was not engaging but the waiter was good and very informative of the wines and different specials from the menu . The manager was not engaging and had a attitude like you should feel honored to eat here and never made you feel welcomed or even see how your experience is.
The meal was wonderful. We always enjoy ourselves here. The waitstaff was very attentive. Enjoyed ourselves immensely
The food was just “ok” nothing special. The noise level was loud and the atmosphere was similar to a college caf.
Great classic Greek dishes prepared in a special way. The service is top notch and continues to be the best in Greektown. We had 3 kids at the table with 4 adults and the waiter was able to accommodate jokes for the kids with an impressive recommendation off the wine list.
Very good service, waiter was very informative and friendly. Food was great! Enjoyed it totally
Lamb waa very tender. No matter how it was prepared.
Delicious Greek food in a festive atmosphere. There was outdoor seating available, but if you want a quiet dinner ask for a booth.
Service was not great. Waitress forgot to put in our appetizer so we got it 5 minutes before our food arrived. There was a chunk of crusty food on our bread basket. My husband’s lamb was way overdone and my chicken was dry. The bread was great and so was the appetizer other than that we will not return.
Delicious food. Amazing service!
I have been here approximately 6 times and food is always exceptional and a great value.
Always a great time , great food, great wine 😃
My father and I both had lamb dishes. Really nice size portions and just delicious. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
Over all service and food were substandard. We chose this restaurant for the online menu which indicated lunch as well as omelettes as some in our party preferred lunch and some breakfast( Sunday at noon).
The menu we were presented with did not have breakfast options, as the waiter explained they have a different menu for weekends, starting with lunch only at 11. I asked if the chef could prepare an omelette for a couple of members of our party but apparently, whipping up a few eggs and cheese was just too difficult. My father in law ordered leg of lamb and pronounced it inedible.
The food was delish as always. The volume of the music was horrible. Could not talk w our dinner dates. Was sooo very disappointing.
Excellent food and service! Our waiter, Pete, was great. Food was served piping hot. Chicken & beef kabobs were excellent. They're known for their Greek food and did not disappoint! Will definitely be returning when we're in the Greek town area.
I love the experience! I go there so many times! My favorite waiter is RYAN!! He is so sweet! I try to request him everytime I come lol
We love Santorini! We have been many times and always enjoy the experience. The friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere make it a fun place to come for meeting up with friends, or celebrating an event.
We waited an hour after our reservation to be seated, waiter forgot our drinks and was very short. They were busy and couldn’t handle a full house.
Arrived a little late for our reservation but had no problem being seated. The service was good and the food was delicious. I had the lamb and my wife had the beef kebob and we were both very satisfied! I would definitely recommend dining here.
What we ordered. Vegetarian Grape Leaves. No sauce. Very dry. Tasted like just a quick reheat. Leaves a bit undercooked. Not much flavor.
Meat Grape Leaves. Leaves a bit undercooked. No sauce. Also dry.
Spinach Pie. Good but not sensational.
Vegetarian Moussaka. Good. Not the best ever though. Not very hot. Inside a bit cool.
Waiter was very nice.
Nice inside a bit loud but ok.
First time at this restaurant. Ate across the street at Pegasus last month, it was much better.
Will try again in fairness.
