The food was very good. We were disappointed that it took almost 90 minutes for us to get our entrees. It was like the kitchen or server had forgotten our order, which was made more apparent by serving our lamb chops medium well, which was overdone. We ordered our soufflé at the beginning of the meal, as they said it took a little longer. After being there almost 2 hours, we were ready to cancel that order. They made it right by having it delivered to our hotel room, but the kitchen and servers seemed much more interested in serving tables doing their elaborate tasting menu.

Restaurant lost it's Michelin star in 2013 and is in no danger of earning it back. Mediocre service, with very long wait between courses. Much of the food, including the bread service was bland and unseasoned. Vegetarian tempeh entree was inedible. Wine selection and service, and dessert were good. But for this price, should have been excellent.

From start to finish, every person and every dish was wonderful. Since I dined alone, I had the pleasure of talking to Jesse, Brian, Marc, and the manager (Daan, I believe). They were delightful and informative. I loved the food and wine pairings!

We had anticipated an excellent meal and were not disappointed. The bonus was the fabulous service. We always enjoy the Fairmont Hotels as they are efficient and polite but manage to maintain a welcoming level of friendliness. (Some nice hotels look down their noses at guests!)

We will hope to come back to Santé

The atmosphere was dark and cozy, not noisy. Bread course included 4 different kinds and two butters. The service was extremely good, our wait staff very attentive. The food was good, with unique and creative preparations, but worth it.

We had the chefs Pre Fixe. A world class experience. The staff was attentive, professional and very caring. The food was exceptional in every way. Wonderful night out for our 17th wedding anniversary. Could not have been more impressed with service and food at any other restaurant.

Sante was awesome! We did the tasting menu and it was creative, well-balanced, and delicious. Several Michelin starred restaurants have not been as good as this place, so we would happily return.

A very gourmet experience but quite expensive. Food heaven. Food was beautiful. If you can afford it pay the extra $99 each for the wine matching.. wines here are very expensive, averaging $30 per glass. Don't forget to add the tax and the tip. If you are willing to pay the price do so. I found the whole experience a little intimidating and hard to enjoy given the cost. Quite easy to spend $400USD plus tip and tax.

From the Fairmont Website, I booked my dinner on New Year's Eve. There was no mention of a special event or dinner. Just normal reservations. I called to change the time, no mention of anything special, received an email with the incorrect time, called to confirm time again, no mention of anything special. Prior to dinner, I went to the website to look a the menu (again no mention of anything special). Once we sat down to dinner, there were no prices on the menu and when I asked the waitress, she said I was billed at the time the reservation was made. It was the next day that I checked my credit card and found a charge of $600! I was not expecting to spend that much and would have never booked the reservation had I known. I don't know if Open Table had my credit card on file or if Sonoma Mission Inn had my credit card on file. The chef did an amazing job and it was a one time experience however would have never spent that much money for dinner. I do feel there needs to be some time of compensation because it should have been very clear what I was booking and the cost. I can honestly say, I will never forget this New Year's Eve.

Sante is one of the few Michelin star restaurants in Sonoma County and it consistently delivers. We opted for the New Years Eve Special event. It was a chef's tasting menu of 6 courses. The presentation, creativity and cuisine were outstanding. And, as always, the service was impeccable. We brought our own wines and they ended up pairing beautifully with the courses. We are local and live very close by, so this is our special occasion go to. The price for this NYE special was $299 / person and included the tax and gratuity, so it was indeed a pricey evening, yet we thought it worth it for the experience. The one critiques would be that it described the event to include a DJ and dancing until midnight. Turns out this was relegated to a small area in the main lobby, open to anyone in the hotel. So, it was not that exclusive compared to how it could be interpreted by the description. We didn't stay till the ball dropped. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience.

Excellent service from our waiter. Meal was outstanding, we had the wagu beef, risotto, tuna tartare, souffle for desert. Sommelier was unfriendly and snoooty, I’m guessung because we only ordered a 85.00 bottle of wine, otherwise would give 5 stars.

We are 2 friends who ate separately at Sonoma Mission Inn over 15 years ago so we were excited to return. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. A once lovely room, with lovely table settings and excellent service is no more. The room was remodeled to resemble the breakfast room at an airport hotel. There were Formica tables, no tablecloths, table tops deeply stained with the rings of wine glasses past. There was a wall of lights that were visually unavoidable which could trigger a seizure. The waiter seemed either untrained or stoned or both. The sommelier treated us like 2 old ladies, not describing wines but basically telling us which wine to order. We sent it back. The food was disappointing as well, especially since were told The chef was previously at the French Laundry. The clientele wore very casual attire, as one might see in a coffee shop after a round of golf or a day of window shopping. And it is expensive, adding insult to injury. So no ambiance. A sommelier with attitude. A waiter from the twilight zone who also looked slovenly. High prices. Mediocre food. Save your money and eat well in Sonoma and go to Girl and the Fig, Oso, EK Lounge, Sonoma Grille, etc. I owned a successful restaurant in San Francisco (116 seats) so I feel qualified to write this review.

Third year indulging in the Christmas Day Feast. Excellent as always.

Although only minor flaws, service was not as spotless as prior years. We repeatedly needed to ask for cutlery, water, etc.

Greeting at check in was a little odd... we were early, and instead of taking our name and informing us of wait time.... we were told to report back to host at reservation time.

They upgraded the seafood selection, adding oysters and mussels to what has annually been a fantastic seafood selection. The appetizers were also great, with an unusual but incredible little mason jar of squash mousse being a real surprise. Second year running, the goose was so dry and tough it was un-chewable. Replacing prior years big roast beefs for prime rib made for an excellent change. Overall everything was great.

The Christmas Feast at Sante has become a tradition for us, and we plan to return next year.

We have been dining at Sante Christmas Eve for many years. This year the experience was horrible. It started with our table which was right next to the kitchen and the hostess refused to move us. The tables did not have any tablecloths. The restaurant looked like an upscale Denny's. Next came the menus. For whatever reason the usual a la carte menu was missing. I asked the waiter why and he sent over the manager who explained that the restaurant decided not offer the a la carte menu but rather offer only a tasting menu and or a price fix menu, neither which was appealing to us. Bottom line we chose the price fixed menu for three and our bill came to $517.00. Our bill for the Christmas Eve dinner in 2016 for three came to $217.00. That is a big difference. We will certainly end our tradition and never step foot in Sante again.

Michelin star. A couple of friends who had been there years ago and loved it. My expectations were high; perhaps too high. Where do I begin. The hostess was nice. The busboy was nice. The waitress was stiff and her voice was jarring. The bread came late after we had to ask for it, but when it came it was the best part of the whole meal. Not a good thing. We ordered the special butternut squash soap as a starter. The presentation was cute. They put the creme fraiche at the bottom of the bowl and then poured the soap from a carafe over it. Nice touch, except the soup was weak, lukewarm, and flavorless. And this was a Special of the evening. Rather than order the tasting menu, which is wasted on two folks with small stomachs like us, we ordered entrees a la carte. My wife ordered the salmon with lentils. It looked terrible on the plate and tasted terrible on the palate. Worse salmon I ever had. Having reviewed the menu online prior to this evening, I had planned to order the filet mignon. I was told that tonight it would be three ounces of filet and three ounces of braised short rib for $48.00. Oh well. False advertising? Bait and switch? The presentation was nice, the meat tasted good. The steak had been prepared as ordered. Perfect! The potato and vegetables were invisible, but hey this is haute cuisine, not Applebees! Interestingly, after finishing that short rib I had had enough anyway. Now for dessert. Probably should have gone for the chocolate souffle, but was more in the mood for apple crisp-type of creation. It was the size of a small croquette and awful. I needed a microscope to find any apple. Once again though, this dish left me strangely full. I am not a novice to fine dining in general and Michelin star restaurants in particular, so I can make comparisons. Perhaps this was an off-night, but I was really disappointed. BTW, overall the experience at Sonoma Mission Inn was wonderful!

We wanted to take our friends out for a special Thanksgiving dinner. We thought we could count on Santé to be the perfect spot. I made the reservation months in advance, never expecting a buffet.

The food was mediocre at best and was extremely cold. (As an example, tamales were on the buffet table, and the husks felt like they were straight out of the refrigerator.)

The service was quite poor (dishes from the various courses were left to collect on the table), the food was quite poor, and the tab for four (including a $115 bottle of wine) was a whopping $930!!

Will we ever go back to Santé? Never.

Service was outstanding. They remembered us from our visits for Easter. Food was varied and delicious as we have come to expect. Price with wine was well within what we would expect for the overall experience. We will be back for Easter and Thanksgiving again next year.

The tasting menu was amazing. The chef cooked everything from the scallops to the wagyu perfectly. The ingredients were fresh and so thoughtfully picked out. The timing through the courses were perfect. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I'm so happy with the service we received and the food.

We are "foodies" and wine explorers who are "locals" & live just down the street from this fabulous Sonoma restaurant. Yet, it took us two years to find our way here.

Already provided details in our food blog: #efficientchef. But first kudos go to Exec Chef Andrew Cain- super precise and still inventive with fresh twists on what you thought might be familiar, but each dish shows some very creative touches on favorite profiles.

Then, our Sommelier Mark was a sheer delight in his knowledge and presentation. We brought our own: 20-year old 1997 Stags Leap, not knowing how well it would show. Mark knew exactly how to handle it so we could enjoy it over the three courses of dinner. The corkage fee was a great value thanks to Mark's service!

The service by Whitney was equally a delight along with the unique bread service of Della Fattoria (Petaluma's best) made for a superb 2-hour journey.

THE BEST OF SONOMA * for fine dining.

We had the multi-course tasting menu with wine pairings and it was exceptional in every respect. My favorite dishes were the amuse-bouche of creamy custard and caviar and the incredibly tender and flavorful wagyu beef and its accompaniments. My husband's favorite dish was the black truffle risotto with white truffle foam. The wines paired with each course enhanced and were enhanced by the chef's creations. Service was superb and the entire experience was memorable.
