For our first visit to Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa and SANTE restaurant we chose a meal off the Valentines “special” menu.
We were not disappointed at all and loved every course.
Our only negative feedback is that the portions are LARGE and we simply could eat it all, but they offered to make a takeaway box for our picnic lunch the next day.
Food was excellent.
Everything was great except the dress code.
It was Valentine’s Day and we had people wearing t shirts and jeans next to us.
Pretty weak in my opinion!!!
great menu and wine list. Service should be better....its a Fairmont
Excellent, friendly and attentive service, a vast wine selection and high quality by the glass wine offerings.
Lamb for two was plentiful and delicious!
We stayed at the SMI and ate brunch the next morning. Everyone was friendly, the service was excellent, the selection was interesting and delicious!! Dinner, next trip!
Delicious Lemon Pancakes. Service was attentive and personable, knowledgeable and friendly.
My favorite breakfast in Sonoma!
We enjoyed our experience at Sante. We were there on a Sunday evening in late January, so it was very quiet. We had top notch service including the hotel food services manager checking in with us about our meal. The food was exquisite. We shared the roasted lamb. It was tender and flavorful.
Overall great, but my choice of a side dish (squash) may be the reason why I'm not giving it all five stars across the board. I had just enjoyed the most delicious squash side at Charter Oak in Napa Valley and this did not even come close. There was also nothing extraordinary about the potatoes that came with the main dish - I need more flavor. Wine, though: excellent! I will be giving dinner here another try, no doubt.
Sante offered a varied but tasteful menu, and the best part was their Sunday Supper. Keep that up and I'll be back for sure! The lamb shoulder was delicious as was the sunchoke soup. Wine prices were a bit high compared to similar caliber restaurants. Ambiance was ok, though sitting next to a window I was hoping there might be a lit courtyard, pool, firepit etc to look out on to make up for the draft coming in through the cracks. Our waiter was very informative, though gave the impression of being rushed.
It was my birthday. European foodies in town for the occasion. I was embarrassed. This is NOT a Michelin starred restaurant and it’s ridiculously over priced. For example, châteaubriant isn’t encrusted with whole black pepper corns. It just isn’t, anywhere. Google it. The cut was superb, but overwhelmed by WHOLE black pepper corns. Another example, Apple pie is not made in house and was not fresh. The crust was a joke, literally we belly laughed. Visualize baked apple sauce surrounded my cardboard. These people know food and don’t mind paying for it. I was genuinely embarrassed. If you go, eat at 38. The Wagu burger was superb with a glass of Hamel Ranch cab.
Staff was so personal and friendly. I was there for mother daughter dinner and they made the night more fun and enjoyable. A delicious experience.
We have gone to Santé for more than 10 years for special occasions. We were extremely disappointed for the first time. Menu has changed and food was mediocre. Our waiter was not attentive.
The Sunday supper for 2 was a great deal and the branzino was delicious. I would order again.
Sante, once spectacular, has become a good restaurant with excellent side dishes.
Pros: Brussel Sprouts with black garlic and mushrooms l! The mashed potatoes were classic and delicious: simply presented with inventive flavors and flair. The dismantling of the banana split, presented in display fashion on the plate, was gorgeous and had a childlike whimsy that delighted my hubby. Brian, the dining room manager, is caring and attentive.
Cons: clumsy and late delivery of drinks and food even when restaurant is nearly empty; also servers seem overly chummy and casual like a local diner.
Still, I’d recommend it while staying at Sonoma Mission Inn, because it’s festive and still thrills in small doses.
We were looking forward to Christmas Eve Dinner. Staff was nice. Food expensive and terrible. Pasta was swimming in soupy sauce with whole peppercorns. Steak was ok but expensive for type of cut. French fries really not worth it. Thin and tough. They credited us for part of meal but that isn’t the point.
Sadly, we will not go back.
We are foodies and wine lovers, and we thoroughly enjoyed Christmas Eve at Sante having The Feast of The Seven Fishes eight course fixed menu.
The arrival of Chef Marcellus at the Fairmont Sonoma has really really really improved the menu. The Sommelier is also superb as is the wine list.
We will be returning over-and-over.
Lovely evening with wonderful food and service. I hope to be back soon!
The food is not terrible, but it is overpriced for what you are paying for. The server said the beef was a steak, but it was actually a roast. Unfortunately, this place did not live up to the highly rated reviews.
Really special night!
We had brunch and dinner at Santé both were very good. We loved the French toast and Dutch baby, then for dinner the cacio e Pepe was very good.
In order to accommodate all of the Thanksgiving dinners they converted the lobby into a dining room which negatively impacted the ambience of the experience, it might as well have been in a ballroom. While the food was very good it would have been better to have a few more appetizers and a few less desserts. Due to the crowds the service was strained. Would I go back there for a Thanksgiving meal, no, but would return for a dinner on a not so frenetic day.
My brother and I have turned Thanksgiving in Napa into a tradition. Sante did not disappoint. The apps were great and the soup with truffles was divine. The mains were solid - prime rib was a nice break after 3 Friendsgivings. The desserts were eclectic and definitely something for everyone.
Overall great value for the price.
Service was very unorganized. Meal was nice. Desserts were a treat.
The service was exceptional throughout the hotel, however the food was only fair in preparation and quite cold, in fact nothing brought to the table was near warm. I believe it was because it was a pseudo buffet in that most of the tapas, deserts etc were in the buffet, while the main entree's and vegetables were brought to the table.
Since the food was prepared in the kitchen and brought out in many smaller portions, they got cold.
My wife and I go out to Thanksgiving dinner almost every year and this was the worst food we ever had and when you add the cost for the dinner, it was hard to see how the cost related to the dinner.
won't be back.
Thank you for your interest.
Three of us went for their Thanksgiving buffet. We were greeting and seated immediately in a back room by the swimming pool. The starters and soup were buffet style. Delicious selection of cheeses and meets, salad and beyond wonderful soup. Family style dinner of prime rib and turkey, gravies, stuffing, vegetables. All delicious. Tender and moist, great seasoning. Dessert was buffet style and the detail and flavors were meticulous. Little parfaits, cakes, mousse, all wonderful. My only complain was it took about 2/3 through the entree to refill water glasses, ask us how everything was, offer more wine or beer. No complaints with food, however, and overall everything was great. For a $500 meal I would have expected a little more attentive service, that's all.
The food was amazing. The sommelier recommended the best Pinot noir to pair with our chateaubriand. The pistachio burrata was a great shareable appetizer. Then we ordered the chateaubriand for two with béarnaise and pepper sauces. Amazing!!! Wonderful evening.
Everything about Santé was lovely including the ambiance and service. In hindsight, we ordered the wrong thing. The roast lamb shoulder was flavorful but exceptionally fatty. We wish the waiter had forewarned us. We would have ordered something else.
Menu was limited but covered all the bases...meat, fish, chicken, etc. Smaller portions but still very filling. Definitely glad we ate there for our anniversary and look forward to eating there again.
Our wait staff from hostess, to server to sommelier and more were all fantastic. They made our evening. Next time we are in Sonoma we will check if Vincent is still @ Sante.
We were staying at the Sonoma Mission Inn and chose to have dinner at the hotel. Wow, what a disappointment. The food was just ok (duck breast was rubbery and prepared with seaweed?!, fillet was a generous portion and good). The service was quite poor...slow, inattentive. The hotel is nice but skip Santé.
Hostess was rude and no one acknowledged our special occasion. Very disappointing for the high prices
We enjoyed fabulous food, wine and service at Sante! Highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and the ambiance was delightful. Definitely plan to go again.
Heavy here many times! Always a very nice experience for staff to the chef. 5 stars!!
Really enjoyed the evening. Was surprised at how limited the menu was. Wine list was terrific. Great place for a group.
