We bring the very best of Southwestern culture and cuisine home to the Lowcountry. Our menu has been an Islanders" preferred dining spot for over 20 years and with dishes like our famous grouper, to our bone-in cowboy cut black angus ribeye, our outrageous chimichanga to even lobster fajitas, we're sure to have a new favorite waiting for you. From the sounds of the live Ranchero guitar player to the smells rising from our mesquite grill, Santa Fe Café is a much welcomed reprieve for the senses. Even when you're outside underneath the stars on our Rooftop Cantina, we've got you covered.

This is the best food on the Island (we are residents and my husband is a Culinary Institute of America grad) and in spite of the annoying ambiance we seem to always encounter, we will always return and recommend the food as being best on the Island but......we have encountered this annoying situation for the 3rd time on Sunday night! I deligently make reservations and on arrival we are told that “your table isn’t available but we have.....upstairs”! We were entertaining out of state guests and I raved for days about this place only to be 1). seated in the first table to the right on top of the steps and not only had to contend all night with people (other guests and wait staff) coming and going and had to move or get up to supply ample room for passing and 2). seated adjacent to a rather large family group with children who were being children loud and distractive!
I feel like our faces are on a plaque as we arrive and it says...these suckers will sit anywhere!
We spend many dollars here and don’t hesitate to order drinks galore and I’m beginning to wonder why!
The wait staff are always amazing but the host stand always greets us in an unusual negative, unfriendly manner as though we are a nuisance to them.
In reference to Sunday night we were not given any other options than the table we were seated at....it completely ruined my evening

Food was decent, ambiance is nice, especially outdoors on the deck; but beware that this establishment is not baby friendly! Took our 1 year old for an early dinner at 5pm, and they were very obviously annoyed that we brought a baby (attitude about having a stroller, getting a high chair, etc...) even though I did mention it in my reservation that we would have a baby. They made us feel extremely uncomfortable and were unbelievably rude (host, waitress, buster, literally all workers). My advice is to not go here with children! Every single other place on the island was AMAZING towards children except Santa Fe.

Use to visit this establishment over a decade ago and finally returned to the island recently. Great memories which were substantiated with excellent food, superb service and a splendid atmosphere. Would recommend for any occasion. Bon Appetit !

A welcome change from the mostly-mediocre food on HHI. Great menu - everything looked awesome. We followed the advice of other reviewers and I started with the Painted Desert soup - really creative and tasty. Then my husband had the pork chops verde and I had the ribeye burrito. WOW - both were absolute winners. And a nice wine list. Highly recommend!

Food is pricey and ordinary. I ordered a Grouper for $30.00 because it was recommended by my friend. It was good but not worth $30.00.

Enjoyed dining on the rooftop patio. Was early in the evening (6pm) so not sure how crowded/loud it may get later, but was nice and quiet while we were there. Had shrimp tacos and they were good.

I have been coming to Santa Fe Cafe since they opened many years ago. It is a "can't miss" stop on any trip to Hilton Head. The southwestern offerings are always top notch, but the menu is much broader than just southwest. This is a super solid choice for everything on the menu.

We came for the early bird with a large group (kids included). Our waiter was awesome—even had the chef special make “crispy” tacos for my whiny son. The food was outstanding from the salads and soups to the entrees and churros. Love the red sangria and the margaritas as well. We will definitely be back. 😊

As usual, Santa Fe Restaurant Provided excellent menu choices in a friendly environment. It has been the go to choice for foodies with a taste for Southwestern cuisine on Hilton Head for over fifteen years. It is my wife's favorite restaurant, so we have gone there many times over the years; we have never been disappointed.

Good food
Inside noise level made talking and listening difficult for two of us with some hearing deficiency. Rooftop bar and dining looked quite nice but too chilly for us to use it. They did have propane heaters through out the seating area.

A friend recommended this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed!! It was so good that we booked another reservation for three nights later. One dining experience there simply wasn’t enough! Our server was so attentive and friendly, and not a single detail was overlooked. The food was outstanding - the painted desert soup was the best soup I’ve ever tasted!!

Every time we are there we are seated in the kitchen area. It is loud and when we leave our clothes stink and must be cleaned. The food is very good, I love the Painted Dessert soup. The burrito is one of my favorites. The margaritas need more tequila. I gave the ambiance a low rating because it is so loud.
