A friend recommended this restaurant and we weren’t disappointed!! It was so good that we booked another reservation for three nights later. One dining experience there simply wasn’t enough! Our server was so attentive and friendly, and not a single detail was overlooked. The food was outstanding - the painted desert soup was the best soup I’ve ever tasted!!
Every time we are there we are seated in the kitchen area. It is loud and when we leave our clothes stink and must be cleaned. The food is very good, I love the Painted Dessert soup. The burrito is one of my favorites. The margaritas need more tequila. I gave the ambiance a low rating because it is so loud.
This has become a favorite place for us to enjoy great Mexican food and entertainment while vacationing on the island. Experienced and friendly staff and a creative menu can always be expected when dining at Santa Fe!
Sante Fe has been a fifteen year favorite of our family while on vacation in Hilton Head but the restaurant seems tired and the food was not as good as in the past, especially for the price. Could benefit from menu and décor update.
Our 2nd time there in 4 weeks. A bit expensive, but the presentations are fabulous, service is great, and the ambience a definite step up from most HH restaurants. We'll be back!
The food was fantastic. The art soup is definitely a must have and the rest of our meal was truly authentic Mexican but with a little twist.Great service- never had an empty glass and food was brought at a timely pace. Churro dessert was the perfect ending 😬
Food and service was very good - no complaints at all. One thing that I noted, however, was that the "special notes" that I included with my OpenTable reservation were not followed or noticed. I asked to be seated upstairs but was instead shown a table in a complete different area of restaurant. When I asked about seating upstairs, I was told sure and we went and sat upstairs. Apparently, the note on my reservation was not noticed - not sure how this can or should happen. Otherwise, restaurant was fine.
Always enjoy dining at Santa Fe Cafe, great southwestern style menu, friendly, attentive service, and authentic atmosphere. Creative twists on familiar Tex-Mex entrees plus other unique entees. Reasonably priced drinks and food. Painted desert soup is a must try.
The host was surly and unwilling to get us a nice table. The wait staff was delightful and solved the problem.
Really liked the grilled shrimp cocktail appetizer.
Overall a great restaurant! My daughter and I were not crazy about the breaded halibut special -- which was disappointing -- but everyone else loved their food! The service is great and, while it IS near fine-dining, it is a fun alternative to the stuffier fine dining restaurants on the island.
Not kid friendly. We had reservations and arrived on time. 2 groups our size, who arrived after us, were seated before us. We waited 30 minutes. We were told they were waiting for a particular table to open up. We were then put in a corner. It took 10 minutes until we saw our waitress. The service was simply awful. It was clear the issue was we had kids. The food was really good but we won't be back because of the way we were treated. Our kids are well behaved. This just isn't a family friendly place.
My 3rd visit over a 10 year period, and it never has disappointed! The woodfired grill and atmospher make the food and experience so enjoyable;) The pork tenderloin with fried sweet potatos is amazing and the Blackened Redfish makes for great sharing! The service was awesome too! Can't wait to visit again... Cheers!
The food was very good as well as the service. Only problem was sitting at a very small table that could not accommodate all the food that was ordered. Overall though it was a pleasant time.
The food and service were wonderful. Linda, our waitress took great care of us and always with a smile. The ribeye burrito was out of this world
We were welcomed by a very understanding maitre d' despite our lateness-parking in front of or around the restaurant was at a premium, and the search took at least ten minutes, to a spot on the grass under a tree. Once seated, we were greeted warmly and efficiently. Drinks and dinners soon followed. Although seated near the door, we did not feel that we were in the mainstream. The food was delicious and original. There was certainly enough that both of us could have taken it home, if we weren't attending the theater. Teas were refilled in a timely fashion as well, plates removed and we were made to feel well attended.
Had to send back wine...it had been opened too long. Food was great. Service was very attentive and responsive. Enjoyed the visit and will return when back in the area.
Food and service was great! The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. We have been many times and will continue to visit.
Great service, food and loved the music!
A favorite of our family member who has been on the island for over 40 years and tried every new restaurant.....we also like Bistro 17 started by the same person!!!
Here from Colorado and wanted something southwestern for dinner for 10. Used OpenTable, got a quick reservation and was absolutely impressed with service, food and atmosphere. So impressed, 5 of us went back several nights later - impressed again!
Good spot, food is always good, service a bit slow tonite
Shrimp tacos were good. Crab cakes and guacamole were excellent. Good local beers. Very nice time overall.
Food was great but never got the drink I ordered
Waitress said sorry but offered no remedy
Great night up. Yummy dinner. Great waiter.
This place never let's us down, we never miss dinner here with every visit!
Excellent menu choices and variety. Friendly service and atmosphere. Grouper that was recommended was outstanding.
Sone of the best margaritas ive had in all of Hilton Head. The house margarita was amazing. I also had a goat cheese stuffed poblano pepper and a tomale that was absolutely amazing with thier red sauce! I highly recommend this place. To top pff our great experience the roof top live Spanish singer was out of this world. Worth a visit or 10!
First time visiting the Santa Fe Cafe after having several people recommend it. Was glad we took their recommendation.
Food was very good and so was the service. We will add The Santa Fe Cafe to our list of places to eat when we visit.
Loved the guitar player on the upper deck, server/bartender Geneve was awesome. They had Tecate beer which was great and only $4. Ceviche was excellent. The steak I had was the special cut and had a lot of fat. It was tender though. Did not like the fried onion strings that came with it
Favorite restaurant on island for many years, always return once or twice each trip... consistently delicious food and great service, fun atmosphere.....can close eyes and pick anything on menu and it's great, but Cowboy Cut Bone-in Ribeye, Grouper, Chimichanga, Beef Burrito, Crab Cakes are favorites. Won't disappoint!
Great dining experience . Lou was a wonderful server. The noise level was moderate. Always fabulous food.
We visit Santa Fe each time we visit Hilton Head and have never been disappointed.
We were in Hilton Head on vacation for 4 days, sadly we didn't end up at Santa Fe until the night before we left. We tried it on a whim since the menu looked inviting (and I love Mexican food). Santa Fe had great choices from more 'classic' Mexican dishes to more creative options. Everyone in our group agreed that it was the best meal of the trip...and my 3 year old even ate all his food—HA!
Been dining here for years. Consistently good food served in a fun space.
Hadn't dined at SFC in 5+ years. Decided to go there for dinner our last evening at HH and it was a great choice. Guacamole app terrific as well as main courses. Great service as well.
Food took over an hour to come out. Server did not acknowledge the issue. Ceviche was poor. Salmon was over-breaded and overcooked. Other food was decent. Other tables seated after us were served first. Not sure what the issue was. We won't return.
Nice atmosphere and good food especially the painted desert soup
It was good food. Prices were moderate. Everything tasted very fresh. I would go there again.
The queso dip seemed to pretty much be melted Velveeta with some peppers sprinkled on top. The chips that came with it were stale. Salsa was good. I had the pork chop, which was pretty good, although the presentation left something to be desired. REALLY dark in the restaurant, so the presentation wasn't as noticeable until I took a picture. I think it's dark on purpose...
Food was great as usual. Only problem, they stuck us in a corner table with no room. My brother, dad, and I are all big guys so it was uncomfortable.
We reserved a table at Santa Fe Cafe 3 weeks before the time of our vacation and requested to sit outside because we wanted to hear the live music. When we arrived we were told no tables were available outside and that it's not possible to ask to sit outside on Open Table. There was nothing in the description of the restaurant on Open Table to indicate this, it actually mentioned the outside seating which was the entire reason we wanted to go there. After I complained the host found us 3 seats at the outdoor bar. We saw empty tables when we sat down at the.bar and one of those tables was empty the entire time we were there. The food was good but we wouldn't have gone there had we known they wouldnt give us a table outside
