We have gone here a few years and it has always been good but our meals were especially outstanding on our last visit.
Server was delightful. Enchiladas were horrible...dry and not flavorful.
While the waitress and staff was absolutely wonder. The whole thing was absolutely ruined by the absolutely flavorless hunk of meat that was passed off as a ribeye. They also did away with the free refills for their soft drinks.
We had a great time, we dined on the patio and with the fireplaces and overhead heaters we were very comfortable.
We had a wonderful going away lunch for a friend. The food was delicious, our waiter friendly and attentive and the room was beautiful. We would certainly come again. We also enjoyed the gift shops.
Food was excellent. Service was great and atmosphere was very good. A hidden gem out here
Food was very good but service was so slow! It took a long time to order drinks and longer to get them. Same with the food. Over 2 hours for a light dinner.
We’ve been here a few times in the past Around 5, but this time we had 7:00PM reservations. We requested to sit on the patio and there weren’t any heat lamps, and we were seated pretty far from the fireplaces, though we asked for a closer table. It was chilly. The server was friendly but slow and disappeared for long periods of time. Our food was ok, but not exceptional, as we’ve had in the past at the Santa Ana Cafe. The steak on my salad was over cooked (well done instead of medium as requested) and my husbands fries were cold by the time they brought out the food. The drinks were strong, which was nice. All of us, party of 4, disliked something on our plates. One in our party, the weird soggy croutonS on their salad, I disliked the seasoned pears on mine (cut too big) and my mother in law disliked the seasoning on her ham on her Cobb. I’m not sure if it was the same seasoning choice for all the parts we chose not to eat much of, but it wasn’t balanced with the other flavors of the dishes. Overall, it was disappointing and we probably won’t visit again. So sad because we loved it so much in the past and we’re excited to take our out of town family members there to try it.
I thought that the rib eye would be prime beef, not choice.
I would recommend Santa Ana Cafe to a friend with the great experiences we have had in the past, and what it is like now. In the past they had an awesome buffet, now it is a limited menu. In the past wait staff was plentiful (more then 2 for the whole patio),attentive, helpful with drink orders, menu questions. Now they are scarce, not knowing the menu, and filling in from another area of the resort. I made reservations online, when our party of 10 showed up to the place I had told them was great, they sat us on the patio with a wedding rehearsal party. My party was very disappointed the buffet was gone. On several occasions we had to stop our conversion to let everyone in wedding make their speeches. We stayed being we all drove a minimum of 10 miles, and were a fair distance from other restaurants. The overall experience has gone downhill. We have been staying, eating, playing golf at this resort for over 15 years.
Outstanding cocktails! Outside seating was beautiful. Great menu to choose from. Very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.
Breakfast Buffet was excellent. (Be aware that it closes at 11AM.)
Wilbert server, always excellent.
Environment is beautiful.
What a disappointing experience. There were 4 of us dining. Here are the complaints:
1. our food was served luke warm. One of our party sent her food back to be heated.
2. the gnocchi was almost inedible b/c it was so sweet.
The food was mediocre for the most part. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas, and a friend thought her flat iron steak was passable.
All this and the $$ was pretty steep for what we got. however, the servers was great. NOT their fault!
I had requested an outdoor table ... the enclosed porch was hardly outdoors. That was a disappointment.
We enjoy going to Tamaya to sit on the patio by the bar and watch the sunset. And will continue to do that, but that's our last visit to the Santa Ana cafe.
We are staying at this resort and ate here for the convenience without many expectations. I was very pleasently surprised by this restaurant. I ate both dinner and breakfast and.tgry were great! Best Huevos Rancheros ever! Food was attractive and well presented and the portions and taste were excellent. Service was friendly but not hovering, which I like. Not cheap, but great value for the money.
Have eaten there several times. This was no exception to the fine service, atmosphere, food and drink that we have always experienced. Ate on the outside patio. Party of four. All selections were excellent. Service professional and courteous. Will always be among our first choice candidates when entertaining friends from out of state.
Had the prime rib dinner buffet. Green chile corn chowder was the highlight, though the prime rib, pork ribs and grilled vegetables were very good too.
My review is for the dinner buffet, which is Friday and Saturday nights during the summer. The food is outstanding. I'm a buffet aficionado. The Santa Ana Cafe evening buffet has a smaller selection than the best Las Vegas NV buffets, but the quality, in my opinion, is higher. Be sure to try the Pork Mole, the Chicken Green Chile Tamale Pie, and the House Smoked Salmon. I haven't had better anywhere, including Las Vegas and several cruise ships.
My dtr ordered the chicken enchiladas. The portion was very small. I ordered the ribs. Tasty but almost impossible to take off the bone. I shared with my daughter since she was pretty hungry after the baby enchiladas. My husband ordered the prime rib buffet. Prime rib was tasty but cold served with hot au jus. He said the best part was the salad bar.
The food was excellent. The service was slow. We had a table for 8 so the 22% gratuity was already added to the bill. That leaves no motivation for the server to work hard. Other customers came and left before we were finished eating. The server attended to all other tables first. If you have a few people it’s probably a 5. If you have a large group I wouldn’t recommend it.
My granddaughter and I enjoyed our meal on the patio. The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful. The food was very good. I enjoyed the smoked pulled pork sandwich with “cole”slaw, which was really kale slaw. It was, however, very good.
Amazing food and service! So good we went back the next night! Try the green Chile strips. So good!
It was my first visit back since the remodel of the cafe. Food & service, as always, were excellent. The patio is delightful on a warm evening. But a walk on the grounds after a leisurely meal was the frosting on the enchilada! Danville Dove
We went for my husband’s birthday. The staff was wonderful. The buffet was delicious. Ambiance was lovely.
The server was wonderful, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Ordered off the menu a Chimayo Club that was very hardy; bred was dry. Also had French Dip that was excellent. Disappointed that there were not more patrons in the restaurant for a Saturday night. On a cooler evening would have eaten on the attached patio.
Everything about our dinner and service was excellent!! We will be back for sure!!
The buffet is the best in the Albuquerque area. There are enough selections to please most, but what really stands out is the quality of the food.
We have eaten at Santa Ana Cafe prior to their remodel, and preferred it at that time. This time, the service was fraught with errors and the timing of food delivery was really off. The food was good but not great. This restaurant is really close to our home so it would be nice to have this as a favorite option, but I don't think we will return any time soon.
We love eating out on the patio. It was a perfect night. Thank you for great food and service.
Best Buffett ever!
Great food, service, and ambiance. The outside patio is wonderful! Loved Marina our waitress who could not have been more accommodating to 8 women. Thank YOU!
Very good meal with excellent service. The staff was helpful, responsive and quick. The new decor is pleasing and we would go there again anytime.
Very pleasant ambience. Food was good. Salmon in salad was cooked just right. Steak salad was different but very good
Server was fantastic. Food was above average. The atmosphere has changed with the remodel and though new, has the feel of a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. The outdoor seating was nice and quiet but it lacks the incredible views of the bar and grill area. For the money and views, I'd choose the bar/grill any day over the cafe. Or, if you want to splurge, the Corn Maiden is quite good.
The food was okay.. Was expecting a better cut of Ribeye steak. The wifes Salmon was done great... You could use frosted mugs for your draft beer to set it off better.... It wasn't as we expected, more like a Café....
pancakes were mealy. Chili was bland. Sausage was probably knackwurst. Very good waiter.
Our waiter Christof was great! Food was delicious! Also the restaurant has recently undergone renovations, the chairs the atmosphere was all amazing. Love this place and go here very often.
I happily remember the elegant Sunday brunch buffet once served at Tamaya. When that disappeared we came for lunch on the patio; the food was very good. The past couple of summers we continued coming for an occasional lunch and found the food quite good. Based on past experience I brought a friend for lunch on June 26. To my dismay, the food was quite disappointing particularly the tacos which seem to have replaced the legendary fajitas! My guest could not eat her salad.
The waiter was outstanding in his careful attention to our needs - never in evidence, but always there. Bravo!
Would think twice about returning for lunch.
Just disappointed that the breakfast buffet selections were so meager and that there was no sense of opulence whatsoever. Most items were served in very small bowls, and items like smoked salmon were served in small pieces. Short-order Chef for eggs didn't seem to know how to do fried eggs, only scrambled and omelettes. For $23 per person. I expected overall bigger, more prestigious presentation.
