Sant Ambroeus - West Village
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.
Sat – Sun 9:00am to 11:00pm
It’s just the best!
Excellent service, food, and ambiance! Especially for Christmas time
The staff was incredible. The hot chocolate was incredible. The pancakes were incredible. 10/10 recommend!
Exceptional food, service and ambiance. Quiet enough to ha Eva conversation but still festive and authentic Italian food
Great and attentive service with lovely cozy atmosphere. The menu is small but varied with choices for all tastes.
It was sp pretty outside and in. Very quaint and romantic. Food was amazing. You could tell it was a neighborhood gem . So glad we were a part of it. Will def be coming back. Everything was great from the moment we walked in.
Beautiful restaurant with outstanding friendly service! The wine was superb but expensive. The food was reasonably priced but was a bit disappointing. Overall a nice experience and we will return.
Everything was amazing. My new favorite!
Food was great but service was pretty disappointing, as it was difficult to track down our server. We ordered cocktails at the beginning of our meal and didn't get them until after we had eaten.
Outstanding value for money, decadent food
always so happy with the meal and serviced received @ Sant Ambroeus. so delicious!
Never a letdown , everything about this restaurant is perfect. The ambiance is a perfect date night at this gem , and ever so discreet!one of my favs
I had a friend visiting from London and we wanted a cute & charming place. This was definitely the place to go - the decor is so beautiful and the meal and service matched! Highly recommend
I had a dinner reservation for a party of 2.After finishing our dinner and a bottle of wine we decided to order another one. This is when the manager came over and told us that it is only 2 hours per table(which was never mentioned when I made the reservation)and that she had next reservation and we should move to the bar(which was full). And I was actually still working on my meal. Not even asking if we want to take a look at the desert menu.Just a very blunt request to move, not apologizing. After such disrespectful treatment we just left and continued our evening and Leelabar, which had a better wine anyway.Just for the record, one bottle that we order at this venue costed around 100$.So we were left very confused as of why we were treated this way, while still bringing them profit, and not just lingering around sipping one cocktail for hours. And for the record, there were tables with the same people staying way more then two hours,as they were there when we arrived. Would never recommend this place, horrible aftertaste.
The service was the worst I've ever experienced (one person didn't receive their dish, we never received our drinks until after our meal was served), however they did comp our meal which made up for it but still I wouldn't go back. I appreciate them taking responsibility for all of the mistakes, however I would use caution to ever try to go there again.
Lovely place for dinner. Excellent pasta. Your spaghetti carbonara is wonderful!!
What an amazing dining experience from start to finish. Our servers were amazing, made wine and food recommendations that were just perfect. We started with the prosciutto and burrata appetizer which was delicious, moved onto the truffle papardelle, also delicious, but the highlight was the Dover sole. The best fish I have ever had in a restaurant, perfectly cooked and presented. Dessert was a profiterole which was also great. We will be back again for another special occasion!
My absolute favorite restaurant! The food, the ambiance and the staff are incredible.
Excellent restaurant with very attentive and friendly service from the host to the servers. It is a beautiful setting as well. Food recommendations were awesome. Wine as well. Would go again. Neighborhood gem for sure
Nice spot on a rainy day. Was cosy and we had good service. Food was nice and organic but was not warm when delivered (eggs).
Excellent coffee in a small pot was a nice touch.
A charming delightful Restuarant. Highly recommended. We will be back. Food excellent as was the service and the ambiance. Loved it.
Absolutely the best; great food; great team!
Appreciated table 8!
The salads and pasta entrees were exceptional. Pasta was perfectly cooked. This was extremely worth it. Can't wait to be back.
Wonderfully romantic, convivial Italian ambiance & food, especially more northern Milanese style.
Our party of 3 enjoyed 2 different pasta & fish entree (branzino), plus superb roasted side of asparagus. Wines by the glass very rich & aromatic. Our guest, a visiting, cuisine-wise Parisian, loved her clam-based pasta. ONLY real drawback--a fairly large dog that middle-aged & somewhat tattooed, motorcycle couple was allowed to bring in to this otherwise elegant venue. At first the dog even sat upright on banquette, but then to our relief was placed under table, silent & unseen. But I swear I smelled dog hair. Insane
accommodation of vey obviously BOGUS "support" pet. Restaurant staff pleaded that they had no legal recourse. Just curious: even at home, do all these staffers with dogs allow them at their own table?
Wonderful staff and food!
Love this place for a lazy afternoon. The best.
Small, charming place with a great ambiance. Tight quarters but that is part of the deal.
honestly, these folks are, simply put, a class act. so much intelligence and reserve in their service, extraordinarily thoughtful demeanor and extremely perceptive. they know how to run a restaurant experience. to give an example - one older gentlemen in our party ordered, simply, a "light beer." typically, you would get an eye roll from the waiter and a listing of all the beers they have. not here - much more european mindset. "light beer" was the instruction, it was up to them to find a suitable match (they nailed it) - if the gentleman wanted to indulge the beer list, he would have asked. anyhow, small detail, but appreciated - they know how to restaurant. another member of the party was watching a desert crepe being made in the middle of the restaurant with rapt attention. the chef saw him watching with fascination and came over later with a free crepe saying "i saw you watching, i made you one." no reason to have done that other than pride. special place. btw, it's also a more formal than some of the photos would have you believe. in sum, there is an *artisanal* sensibility and intelligence in the staff. they are thinking, watching, observing, and doing it right. :)
Wonderful as always! Best food and service.
Nice italian food in a very quiet place (the only quiet place we found in New York) in a very nice neighborhood (something of the "when harry met sally" atmosphere)!!!!! Try the standard menu. It is very good value for money!!!!!
This is a high end, attention to detail restaurant. All wait staff are in tune to specials of the day and actually have to try them all to be able to explain the taste to the patrons. Quickly becoming a NY mainstay.
Deliciosa comida! Muy buen ambiente
Frank Sinatra playing, plush comfortable seating, fine dining service, and well executed, delicious meals. Could not have had a better experience here!
Excellent restaurant week lunch. Good ingredients and filling! Excellent service.
Not at all a good experience. Initial order wasn’t available. Service was unbelievably slow and bad. I realized I was sitting in Paris and not NY when it came to the pace, time, service.
It’s my favorite one & I live uptown. It’s always fantastic
My friend and I both ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese and when it arrived the pasta was far too soft. Nobody came out to check on how the meal was until we were pretty much finished and when we told them that the pasta was overcooked they barely raised an eyebrow. The waiter appeared three minutes later with a selection of desserts and asked asked if we wanted one and we chose one to share. When the cheque arrived we were surprised to see the cost of the desert included to be honest and no feedback at all on our review of the pasta. I have eaten at the Lafayette location many times with no complaints and very good service so was surprised to have this experience here.
Like s Mini trip to Capri !
Great ambiance, music and service!
The good is fresh, simple and abundant and delicious!
Had reservation for 6:45pm
Bread was stale
Butter had an "old" or a taste to it sort of like it's been in and out of refrigeration several times.
Veal dish that was fried and was so bland as well "that horrible taste" you get from not changing
grease often enough
Coffee was served with small pitcher of clumps of soured half and half.
They tried to have a "do-over" but served once again with the same soured clumped cream.
tiramisu was 2 lady fingers and piled high with marscapone (wondered if that was spoiled
Needless to say it was a.... stomach turner from the get go!
