Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus’s legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant’s elegant dining room.
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

Amazing service and ambiance. The menu was classic/traditional TRUE italian food and their servers knew exactly what they were talking about. The buffala motz and proscuitto app was so fresh and delicious. For an entree, the fettuccine pasta with mushroom ragu and black truffle was incredible. I'll definitely be back.

Service was terrible. Food expensive. Won't be going back nor recommending to any friends.
I can understand that any restaurant can have a bad day. But it seems like everything was wrong this past Sunday morning.

Sant Ambroeus is delicious with exceptional service. I had been before and loved it so I took my mum there for her 60th birthday. The starter was delicious as was her main. Strangely my main (spaghetti vongole) was incredibly salty. To the point that I could only have a few mouthfuls. I explained this to the waiter and he dealt with it perfectly... he offered me to have it recooked with less salt or to order something else from the menu. I didn't actually want something else so I said thank you but no. The maitre d' then came over to apologise and told me that my main wasn't going to be on the bill. She was lovely and there wasn't an ounce of either of them being disgruntled or rude about it. Very professional.

Then to top it off they offered us desert and we declined (because we explained my mum is diabetic) and out came a platter of fruit with a candle in it.

All in all - impressed as ever despite the salty main course. They know how to fix a problem with poise and professionalism! I will definitely be going back on my next trip to NY.

been going since this location opened & always enjoy the service & food. however, its become so pricey - especially drinks (and the pour of martini & wine rather meager for the price), that it will now only be a 'special occasion' treat. bummer.

Had lovely dinner with daughters. We love the spaghetti carbonara.
A little dark for reading menu (for mom) but otherwise a lovely, welcoming small restaurant
with great food.

Been there before and think service is going downhill. Forgot my companion's side dish. Couldn't get the waiter's attention for @ 5 minutes - and restaurant is tiny. My entree was tasty and hot but side came cold. For the money, I suggest going elsewhere.

We were there for Restaurant Week lunch, so I can't speak to their regular prices, but our lunch was a fantastic deal. And the food was just amazing -- I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Capping things off, the service was perfect -- polite without being obsequious, and attentive without being pushy. This was an experience I will remember for a long time.

Asked for scrambled eggs and arugula salad and I misunderstood waiters suggestion so I ended up with an omenlet. Fine but it what I wanted

I came to Sant Ambroeus in the West Village to celebrate my friend's birthday and take advantage of the NY Restaurant Week menu. They had some of their well-known Sant Ambroeus dishes on the restaurant week menu. The Spaghetti all'Arrabbiata was absolutely delicious. It is spicy, but so good that I could not stop eating it. They had a great dessert selection. I ended up choosing the seasonal apple tart, which was a great way to end the meal. The service was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was intimate. It was a great West Village restaurant. I would go back for another occasion.

Lovely bistro. Service and food is beyond superb. Intimate space; suitable for couples or quads. Kids and large, loud groups ought to look elsewhere

Went with friends during winter 2018 restaurant week. Outstanding dishes were the mixed salad and the skate, the others were good or okay. Sophisticated though loud setting, quick and correct service. We spent more on drinks, wine & water, but that's the deal with restaurant week.

Ambiance and service trumps this unassuming and intimate West Village hot spot. I was greeted by a pleasant and friendly host, whom I believe I spoke with on the phone as well, remained friendly and accommodating throughout my stay and definitely set the tone right. Everyone from the bar staff to the floor staff were very good and the dinner setting was just impeccable. Food was also very delicious, and so were the wine and cocktails. Perfect place if you would like to impress a date or even for a business meal. I would definitely come back again.

The food was 'meh' for the price, the wines by the glass also is a poor selection for the price. We have been to this restaurant several years ago and it has lost its luster.
