Sant Ambroeus - West Village
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

One of my favorites restaurants. The cacio e pepe is phenomenal!! Love the intimate West Village location.
My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, and the staff knew that we were celebrating. They gave us a table in the corner by the kitchen. Our waiter didn’t even tell us the specials. He brought out the wrong entree and didn’t even apologize. When we got our dessert they just threw it right on the table without a candle or anything. It was beyond noisy there.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend it for anything intimate. Very poor experience.
Service was terrible. Our entrees took over an hour after we had our starters. Waiter disappeared and needed manager to bring us our bill.
Fabulous food. Great service.
Sexy room , great people watching. The best pasta in all
Of New York. The service is sometimes distractedly European and they aren’t always the most welcoming at the door . Prices are high but so is the quality of all the food they serve...
Our local Sant Ambroeus is a joy and a blessing. As always, our server was professional, charming, and unobtrusive. As always, the food was wonderful. As always, the wine suggestion was so satisfying. As always, every person greeted us like we were the people we were hoping to see that night. (The village has changed so much over the years that some restaurants make the old folks feel like shabby embarrassments.) My 89 year old mom couldn't hear anything said at our table and that was sad, given we were having a special reunion. But that is a problem at every restaurant, and we shouldn't have tried a reunion out. Not your fault. We adore Sant Ambroeus.
Food is truly amazing. Well prepared and simple ingredients. The cacio Pepe and veal Milanese were outstanding. Great service from Damian too!
Love the friendly vibe and excellent good!
We return time and time again!
We had a wonderful table for two tucked away in the corner. Service, wine and dinner were all fantastic!
The only problem was the noise level. Food and service excellent
Staff is amazing and food always delicious
Excellent all around. Great food. Attentive staff. Wonderful wine. Perfect vibe.
Simple, elegant and special.
Food is spot on - service is spotty. Waiter seemed completely distracted (write things down, if you can't remember) and did a poor job at checking in. Also, probably need to have an additional bartender or a service bar - there was a considerable wait from ordering a cocktail to receiving one. These are easy improvements - the food is delicious and the atmosphere is classic NY West Village.
My favorite restaurant!❤️❤️❤️
This was perfect for a business breakfast. Quiet. Out of the way.lovely food!
Great experience but the food was subpar. The ambiance of the restaurant was great but I would expect a higher quality dish if I'm going to spend $100+ on dinner.
Went to Saint Ambroeus in the West Village. The Restaurant Week had a nice selection. Had calf's liver
and pasta which were both delicious. The tiramisu was very fresh and light. Ambiance is intimate and charming. Would definitively go back.
Loved everything about this restaurant.
We dined outside, but the waiters couldn't have been more attentive.
The food was incredible. We will definitely be returning.
Lovely RW lunch. Started with the Liver with polenta and onions, not used to as a starter but an appropriate size portion and tasty. Then pappardelle with wild mushroom ragu and truffle sauce. Delicious. Service attentive and pleasant. Did the wine pairing, very nice as well. Like the old world atmosphere and La Scala décor!
The waiter lied about our tip and made it $200 for himself.
Great food and service. Good time, charming spot.
Food was just ok. Have had much better for the price. Tables are very close together so it’s not easy to talk
This is a small restaurant of 14 tables and a bar with a casual atmosphere and table settings. The breads are served with olive oil and the water bottle is free of ice. The Fegato alla Veneziana was generous portion well cooked with a comestible gravy. The Chitarra all'Abruzzese had a well made lamb ragu over al dente pasta with shaved cheese. The wait service was very attentive. The bathroom is tiled and clean. A very nice local corner restaurant.
Pasta was magnificent- all four of us had a pasta main course and each of us spoke glowingly about it. Best dessert tray ever - really hard to decide. The four we chose again, all were delicious! Can’t wait to return!
Dined here for Restaurant Week. My friend and I enjoyed a delicious lunch. The ambience, service and food are exceptional. Great menu with plenty of options.
Food was disappointing. Fegato was very stringy and veiny, not like recent occasions when it was very good. Sauce was tasty, but the overall impression was not great. The skate wing was okay but the sauce was overwhelming.
The chicken was good and the dessert - a plum tart with hazelnut ice cream was good.
Had a lovely lunch. Feel like I took a small trip to Italy!
Deliciosos platos y abundantes! Recomiendo el hígado con cebolla caramelizada sobre polenta grillada!
Mediocre over priced pasta. I had the pappardelle for $32. Had to keep asking the server to bring more Parmesan and fresh pepper just so it would have some flavor. The staff is very attentive and nice with coat check etc. and the restaurant atmosphere is cute. However, that’s not enough for me to ever need to go back
Excellent food....from the apps, meatballs, eggplant, salad.....to the entrees....all the pastas are exceptional and the fish. The staff is extremely gracious, totally not snobby, and very professional in a relaxed way. My go to restaurant for special occasions!
Excellent food and ambiance!
Weekday Breakfast is a fabulous time to be at the West Village location. So quiet and intimate.
It was my boyfriend and my 2nd anniversary, and we couldn’t have asked for more spectacular service, food, or atmosphere!
Loved it. Terrific spot with great pasta and standout Caesar salad.
Food was fantastic! Very fresh and authentic. Excellent service. It’s a great neighbourhood spot and a must visit spot for all of my NYC visits!
Authentic Italian cuisine, exceptionally well prepared and portioned. Staff was pleasant and quick. I loved the place and the food.
Always good. Nice welcome and warm inviting atmosphere. Great West Village place for lunch or dinner.
It’s just the best!
Excellent service, food, and ambiance! Especially for Christmas time
