Sant Ambroeus - West Village
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.
Great food and service
The waitress & staff were very attentive! Chicken salad panini was very yummy! Of course the bread ( sunflower & olive bread) are so soft & delicious!
Charming place in a great Village location. Individual glasses of wine are too expensive. $54 for 2 glasses.
I have dined here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. Our waiter, Manolo, made the evening especially nice with his attentiveness to every detail. I look forward to going back. I’ve tried many dishes here and every one of them has been great. All of the fresh pasta dishes are delicious and for a real treat, anything off the truffle menu is a culinary delight.
Love it best food and people and service!
It was amazing the pasta was cooked to perfection and the shaved truffle desserts were worth the money.
I felt like I was dining in a super pleasant & laid-back neighborhood place...in Milan! Seriously, the Vitello Milanese was super crisp, perfectly salted and just flat out better than any I've ever had in Milan, and I've had many!
The crowd is arty and casually chic, the service just right too, attentive but never overbearing. Just deducted one star for the relatively high prices...I wish the Vitello Milanese was $39. instead of $49.( at lunch)
This cozy corner in the Village is the perfect spot for people watching and enjoying luxe milanese food in an inviting environment. Feels like a neighborhood bistro, but the menu and decor let you know that this is not your grandmother's Italian restaurant. Great wine list, unexpected specials, a must-go.
This tiramisu made my night. It was also the largest slice of tiramisu I’ve ever had. I also regret not ordering the orecchiette which the table next to me ordered and looked amazing so I’m going to have to go back for a redo ahahaha.
Make reservations in advance or the wait will be at least 2 hrs.
Sant Ambroeus is always a favorite! We were here celebrating a 26th birthday. Their gnocchi alla norcina was incredible as was their spaghetti carbonara and prosciutto and burrata appetizer. All dishes were delectable and the portion-value ratio was generous. The host was accommodating to our request for a corner table or booth. Thank you! We will be back.
Food was overpriced even for New York City. Caesar salad was $23. Fish was $49. Food was good. Just taking advantage at these prices. To be clear, I understand NYC prices. This was just unreasonable.
One of the best restaurants in NYC
Service was beyond terrible
Service & food always exceptional
This place is one of my absolute favorite. So much so that we ate here two nights in a row so we could try something from the truffle menu again. Cozy, sexy, warm and friendly all in one. Love it.
Perfect! And the complimentary desert always a plus here
Delightful, comfortable and friendly, all enjoyed meal and experience
Overall the food is the only saving grace of this place. Serious and significant amount of waiting time even if you have a confirmed reservation. It’s a very small restaurant and they overbook the place. Slow service and staff isn’t very friendly. If you are looking for a relaxed dinner without any hassle.. this isn’t the place.
Excellent service, food was great, presentation is great except tables are so closed to each other and so noisy
We went as a family and was an absolute pleasure. The quality of the food is excellent, pure pleasure. The same for the service. Strongly recommended.
Food was beyond our expectations. Met Chef Ricardo and paid him my compliments. Cannot wait to go back!!
Had the Caesar salad and the mushroom ravioli with black truffles. Amazing. My husband had the caprese salad and the fettuccine bolognese.
Fantastic restaurant in every way.
We felt like we were in Italy from the moment we were shown our table with a friendly , “Prego!”. Service was thoughtful and food was authentic and delicious. We will return.
The linguini in the cacio e pepe was hard and the sauce was oily. There was an eggshell in one of the avocado toast’s that was ordered. The caprese salad and the caeser salad was good. Service was excellent. Rose was good.
Consistently good! Very good in fact. Had the anchovies with butter and the insalata di mare to start and split the Branzino with my friend. Had a delicious Vino bianco from Sicily to wash it all down. Attentive and friendly service always. This restaurant has a great West Village vibe. Both a neighborhood gem and a draw for europeans because of the delicious, authentic italian cuisine. Always good for people watching.
Ho mangiato qui con la mia ragazza a pranzo, volevo venirci da un po’ e ho mangiato veramente bene. Un po’ costoso ma ne vale la pena.
Nice quaint restaurant in West Village. Dined for restaurant week but only a few choices were from regular menu. Normal portion sizes. Food was very good and service was excellent.
The food was awful, which was surprising, as the Madison Avenue location is great.
First, our pasta was so salty, it was inedible. They had to remake, causing another long wait.
The second go round, the vongole pasta contained so much red pepper, I had to shake off the sauce, eating plain pasta.
We were then served grilled salmon swimming in olive oil. We were forced to send it back. This resulted in us leaving the restaurant dissatisfied and hungry.
Was there with a friend, girls weekend. Everything was fabulous!
Fantastic! We love this place.
Great Place!! Great food!!
It was awesome. Our waitress was so attentive and treated us great! Highly recommend
All was really good! Always amazing! Great service
Great value on a Restaurant Week menu. Will definitely return.
Me and my wife’s annual monthly date and she had a great time
Also our server was amazing as well.
Wonderful food, and great value for restaurant week! A really nice way to try something new, we'll be back.
Outstanding as always. Every trip to New York includes a visit to Sant Ambroeus for Linguine Cacio e Pepe. I brought my niece and didn't say a word that it was a special visit and everyone treated all of us as if it were an occasion - which it always is!
Love this restaurant, service can be spotty at times however. This past visit the restaurant was almost empty yet our server seemed overwhelmed and somewhat exasperated at times. All in all, though I keep coming back for the fabulous food, cocktails and wine!
Great food. Love to eat outside when weather nice. Fabulous service also
