Sant Ambroeus - West Village
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

Amazing and friendly service, great outdoor seating situation and delicious food! We tried mostly the specials and they were all amazing. The only thing was the outdoor dining tables were not the most comfortable, they were curved table so we were constantly moving dishes and cups around so they would all fit and not spill to the floor.
beautiful food and service! Great with the covid protection too!
The best there is. Wonderful service and delicious food.
We celebrated my step-daughter’s surprise engagement here after my husband and I had brunch there a few months ago. The service was fabulous and the location and ambiance are ideal! They took great care of us and had the table set with champagne popped upon arrival! The food was out of this world. Soooo glad we came back for the dinner menu. This is easily one of our new favorite spots!
Lovely restaurant. I happened to snag a reservation last minute and we lucked into the best table in the restaurant. Food was excellent and the service was great - attentive, but discreet. Highly recommend
Staff was great. Food perfect.
Was a very lovely evening and a excellent meal...food was good and the service excellent...would recommend...
Awesome food, ambiance, service and city vibe. I would go back!
Valentine’s Day Dinner- excellent. Never a disappointment!
Branzino wasn’t seasoned. Pasta dishes were fine. Dessert was ok. Antipasti was the favorite. Cool west village spot with decent food.
Amazing and authentic food and excellent service. You will not be disappointed!
As always - perfect
I had lunch during NYC restaurant week. Though small place, felt cozy and welcoming, staff was professional and caring, food was very good and I enjoyed myself. I definitely recommend it as a neighborhood gem.
very special place. The best of the Sant Ambroeus restaurants.
Went as a group of four for Restaurant Week dinner, which had a terrific and well-executed menu, however the noise level from two groups of 10+ tables was entirely too much. It made any possible conversation among us impossible apart from barking a groans and gesticulating a lot. Too bad. The food was very good -- I especially loved my polenta with sausage & mushrooms main coarse -- but it was overall an unsatisfactory evening for all around. Wine pours were a bit stingy but otherwise we were well served.
The food and ambience at Sant Ambreous is great and exudes warmth that only NYC restaurants would
Excellent, quality food. Excellent service.
incredible food. Restaurant week was a great time to try it. I strongly recommend tha spinach ravioi and cauliflower steak appetizer. My companion seemed to love what she ordered as well, but i was too entranced with my own selections to notice what she had. I suspect that bhe only way to go wrong here is to not go here.
The food was amazing and the staff was just above and beyond. Def going back.
A perfect evening. The lighting is bewitching. The diminutive space is right for the neighborhood and makes you feel like you've stumbled into a secret. The heavy velvet curtain inside the door shields those blessed to be inside from harsh winter chill and is reminiscent of passing the velvet ropes outside of Little Nels in 1988. You cannot select a bad wine from their list. The food is all enticing on the menu and, although decadent, its deeply-delicious on the tongue. The Cacio e Pepe pasta served on a thick ribbon of pasta was perfection al dente. The kale pesto on a homemade floppy pasta was complex and bright, and has the illusion of being healthy. The carbonara is just divine. Don't skip this neighborhood gem. Its worth every lira you have.
Always terrific! Great service, delicious food and great atmosphere.
Always amazing!
Milan meets Manhattan: As always, the quality of this place never disappoints! From the perfect neighborhood-appropriate look and feel to the friendly and accommodating staff, this is an area favorite. Whether it's Winter or Summer, this is a West Village treasure that I cherish every time I visit....which is often!
The ambiance and food was good. However, we had to wait a long time and keep asking for our coffee. My friends who were from out of town were disappointed and irritated at the unbelievably slow service. I get languishing brunches but this was ridiculous. The server kept blaming the barista. When we'd look at the barista, he wasn't doing anything!
They were very quick to pick up payment though.
Great food and service
The waitress & staff were very attentive! Chicken salad panini was very yummy! Of course the bread ( sunflower & olive bread) are so soft & delicious!
Charming place in a great Village location. Individual glasses of wine are too expensive. $54 for 2 glasses.
I have dined here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. Our waiter, Manolo, made the evening especially nice with his attentiveness to every detail. I look forward to going back. I’ve tried many dishes here and every one of them has been great. All of the fresh pasta dishes are delicious and for a real treat, anything off the truffle menu is a culinary delight.
Love it best food and people and service!
It was amazing the pasta was cooked to perfection and the shaved truffle desserts were worth the money.
I felt like I was dining in a super pleasant & laid-back neighborhood place...in Milan! Seriously, the Vitello Milanese was super crisp, perfectly salted and just flat out better than any I've ever had in Milan, and I've had many!
The crowd is arty and casually chic, the service just right too, attentive but never overbearing. Just deducted one star for the relatively high prices...I wish the Vitello Milanese was $39. instead of $49.( at lunch)
This cozy corner in the Village is the perfect spot for people watching and enjoying luxe milanese food in an inviting environment. Feels like a neighborhood bistro, but the menu and decor let you know that this is not your grandmother's Italian restaurant. Great wine list, unexpected specials, a must-go.
This tiramisu made my night. It was also the largest slice of tiramisu I’ve ever had. I also regret not ordering the orecchiette which the table next to me ordered and looked amazing so I’m going to have to go back for a redo ahahaha.
Make reservations in advance or the wait will be at least 2 hrs.
Sant Ambroeus is always a favorite! We were here celebrating a 26th birthday. Their gnocchi alla norcina was incredible as was their spaghetti carbonara and prosciutto and burrata appetizer. All dishes were delectable and the portion-value ratio was generous. The host was accommodating to our request for a corner table or booth. Thank you! We will be back.
Food was overpriced even for New York City. Caesar salad was $23. Fish was $49. Food was good. Just taking advantage at these prices. To be clear, I understand NYC prices. This was just unreasonable.
One of the best restaurants in NYC
Service was beyond terrible
Service & food always exceptional
This place is one of my absolute favorite. So much so that we ate here two nights in a row so we could try something from the truffle menu again. Cozy, sexy, warm and friendly all in one. Love it.
Perfect! And the complimentary desert always a plus here
