This restaurant has a fun and stylish aesthetic. We came here for Sunday brunch. The food was okay, but slightly pricey (then again, most brunch in NYC is pricey). We ordered our coffees and food at the same time. In less than 2 minutes, the food was in front of us. It took another 10 to get our drinks. I had the panetone french toast and my mom had the cheese omelette. I enjoyed the french toast, although it was cold. It came with three different types of sauces and fruit. The sauces were really good, but very sweet which I didn't mind because I have a sweet tooth. My mom's omelette hardly any cheese in it. The waiter was really nice. All in all, you are paying for the vibe and ambiance, and not so much the food. Our meal wasn't bad, but not especially memorable either. I definitely want to give this place another try because it is really cute.

Not good service by any means. No one came to our table after the food was brought out. We had to send back a dish; no apology for serving eggs Benedict with a hair baked in the eggs. Disappointing experience all around.

Very disappointing. The food was mediocre at best, especially the pasta. We are not normally price sensitive with regard to restaurants, but the food and wine prices were excessive especially considering the quality. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

What a find this charming small restaurant is. We found it by accident on Open Table and were so happy we took the chance and booked the table. Our service was excellent and consistent throughout the evening. My dish of black ink spaghetti carbonara was delicious and perfect for a chilly New York evening. The poached egg on top was a great touch. If you are seeking a small intimate Italian restaurant look no further. I would return without hesitation.

Restaurant was empty of patrons, which is never a good sign. It looked run down and dirty. Our server was very nice and overly attentive. After leaving the restaurant, a few hours later, I got sick on the food. Never going back.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Sant Ambroeus Soho last December on an impromptu trip to the city; we got brunch there. We both recently moved here and thought it would be fun to go back there for our anniversary dinner, since we were so impressed by it when we found it. First of all, the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming- they all seem very genuine. The restaurant itself is cozy and cute, but classy at the same time. Between the plate collection on the walls, the warm lighting, and the round-the-room bench seating set up, Sant Ambroeus somehow exudes the comfort of an intimate Italian cafe, but manages to simultaneously feel elegant-- definitely a good place for a special occasion if you do not want to get overly fancy.

That said, it is over priced. The food is good, but not great. We shared the tofu ricotta to start; the brioche that came with it (along with the bread basket) was great, but the tofu was bland. However, the texture was incredibly smooth and the portion was big enough. For entrees, I got the orto (roasted vegetables, celery root puree, and bulgur), and my boyfriend got the salmon. Mine was good, but not worth the price-- nothing superb. My boyfriend liked his as well, but the portion was not very generous. However, the cocktails are great! The romana and the picante were very tasty.

Overall, Sant Ambroeus has a great ambiance, and the food is good, but not good enough to justify how much we paid. Still, I'd recommend it if you're looking for something intimate, or a good brunch place.

I love these Sant Ambroeus for being very authentic Italian cuisine, but this one missed. Not only did we wait forever for the entree—we think they forgot—but I had linguine volgole and it wasn't very 'Italian' at all. The ingredients were great by themselves but it wasn't properly made so the dish didn't come together with flavor. Very disappointing since it the one place I would tend to trust a dish like that.
Everyone was pleasant but they obviously favored regulars there, which normally doesn't bother me but waiting for our missed order made all the fawning much more ridiculous.
With all the choices in NYC these days, I'm not sure I would hit this particular location again.

It has been more than 2 weeks and my best friend and I have not stop talking about that Saturday we when to Sant Ambroeus SoHo for her birthday brunch. Everything was amazing even when I had to wait for her cause she was running late like always. The beautiful barista offered me the menu and recommend a mimosa just to get me started and it was really good. The hostes that saw me earlier had ask me nicely to wait for my party so we could be seated and so I did at the bar. After my friend arrived late it was a full house but they sat us down right away. After we sat down everything that we ordered came floating to our table and everything was perfect from the handsome server to the warm atmosphere. When we finally made a choice for dessert the server came over with it and a candle lit on top of it, they heard me wish her a Happy Birthday when she arrive or before we sat down either way. Thank you for making it the most amazing Birthday Brunch we ever had. I know that she will agreed we me when I say that we will be going back with a bigger party.

Had an excellent meal on the last day of Summer Restaurant Week. The $29 3-course menu was sensational - nice choice of options, large portions (an entire fish, so 2 filets!), all delicious. My lunch companion was equally enthused by what she chose. Would definitely go back.

I've been to Sant Ambroeus in Greenwich Village which I found to be a cozier restaurant with better atmosphere than the Soho branch. SA Soho is not as warm and inviting nor was the service on the night I was there. Ice water was "warm" and my friend had to ask for ice. The server brought the meal before we even finished our appetizers, then, tried to rush us through. Although the food was appealing, the overall experience was not so much.

Went for the NYC restaurant week special, the wait staff were phenomenal - always making sure everything was right at our table and ensuring that we always had water or wine! Not sure if I would go again for dinner at the regular price, as you can find quality italian fare for much less in NYC, but the outdoor seating right in the heart of soho was great!

We came for my brother's birthday and were extremely disappointed in the service. Our reservation was for 8pm and our entrees didn't arrive until 9:15-9:30pm and the air conditioning must have been broken as it was really hot in the restaurant. On top of that, we had already gotten drinks from the bar so we literally just waited on the food forever. Apps came out pretty slowly too, but not terrible. They comped 1 pasta and then brought us out complimentary desserts at the end but we declined them because we were so hot and just trying to get out of there. That was such a shame too because I would've loved to have sung my brother Happy Birthday. We never let the restaurant know it was his birthday though. It was weird, we felt a bit like because we weren't regulars or famous people (there were a handful in that night), we were given back seat status. The tables on either side of us were seated after us, ate and left (left!) before our entrees came and both had parties of 4 while we were 3. It was a real shame and I'll probably never choose it again, despite the food being delicious. I'd probably be willing to give another location a try.

This is a regular neighborhood spot for me and is usually great. Yesterday was a one off- received food with the hair that no one wants to see in it- repulsive. They replaced it but we were still charged-which is fine- but no one came to acknowledge it. Seemed pretty blasé for them to literally act like it wasn't disgusting that the small dark curly hair wasn't hangin out in the middle of our food.
Like I said, usually a great place but I'm pretty grossed out for awhile and might take a break from there for awhile.

The service was not great--they forced us to sit in the bar area even though the restaurant was half empty (a Tuesday) and we had reservations. The same treatment has never happened to me at this location or any other st ambroeus restaurant though, so I was a bit surprised and disappointed.

always liked the one in West Village but this one topped that. Food was top notch. Best Cacio et Pepe. Pasta cooked perfectly. Salmon tartare excellent. Only improvement Would be to the tuna tartare , it was bland. Service was wonderful and unlike Sant Ambroeus inWest Village tables were better spaced so did not feel cramped

A long term fan of both the Upper Eastside and West Village locations, I must tell you that I was quite disappointed with my experience in Soho. We were given the table right next to the Maitre d' station - which mean people waiting for their table were hovering over us most of the night. Everything about this evening was the OPPOSITE of my prior experiences. The vibe was noisy, crowded, and slightly downscale. Please do not ruin your reputation by delivering a meal and evening that isn't comparable to your other venues. Again, I've eaten in your other restaurants for MANY YEARS. LOVING every meal. However if this had been my first experience, it would have been my LAST.

The server and the sommelier were charming and ultra knowledgeable regarding food and wine. They had the hospitality and taste on a level that only Italians truly seem to possess, as though it were just part of their skin. Conversation was impossible because the noise level is intolerable. But for that food, that service, that wine and that utter kindness, I will go back often. It's really about excellence in quality more than anything else. I'll bring earplugs next time. The world needs lessons in courtesy from Italians!!
