About Sant Ambroeus - Madison Avenue
Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus’s legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant’s elegant dining room.
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

Sant Ambroeus - Madison Avenue Ratings and Reviews
I always think of this restaurant when I come into the city and want to do a special get together with my son. We began with my treating him: our sipping prosecco together at lunch . He was 22. This week marks a progression: his treating me and his fiance to breakfast before their busy business day .
Breakfast was delicious:
We all had scrambled eggs with tomatos, parmesan, tiny potatos , wonderful toast and jams
and plentiful coffee. The quiet table I requested was reserved and ready for us.
Service was gracious as always, and the ambiance beyond lovely. I highly
I used to love this place, but it has gone down hill. In the middle of summer they are boasting Kumato tomatoes on their menu, when we're ripe for heirlooms. They advertised burrata, but it was mozzarella. Finally, both my date and I got sick that evening at the same time. Don't think I'll be coming back.
I ordered a Kale salad. The waiter asked if I wanted to add protein, so I said tuna would be nice. He brought me my kale salad, and on the side was a plate with canned tuna that was basically just chucked straight out of the can. In a restaurant of the caliber I would expect at least some olive oil and salt on the tuna. It looked disgusting. Like cat food. The kale salad was OK.
Sant Ambroeus is like a home away from home if you had an excellent personal chef and gracious service staff! The food is delicious, fresh, and inventive, and the atmosphere is elegant but comfortable. The wine list won't disappoint, with bottles that are affordable and those that are a splurge. The welcome here from each employee is particularly special, and coming back to Sant Ambroeus is a joy each time... Happy dining!
Sant Ambroeus never disappoints with its fresh salads, perfectly dressed, and the best cappuccino in town. Always feel like I'm in a European capital not just because of the excellent service but the number of languages being spoken throughout the dining room.
